Konti Isle, South End
Konti Isle, South End
A lot of people were making a sort of competition. Tap wasn't much a fan of such things. But she couldn't ignore the gleeful cry for lobster than the island was currently singing. Tap had to go where the money was, and currently it was crawling around the bottom of the ocean with the lobster at the south point of Konti Isle.
It was perhaps midday when Tap made her way to the south coast. Carried along with her was her mesh bag, a staple for any fishing event or job she attempted. She had her eating knife too just in case. She also brought along a couple days food, as she planned to stay at the coast for the next couple of days. She wore simple cloth, just her common brown shirt, breeches and leather sandals. Though she did bring along her leather gloves, in case the lobster she caught had spikes along their shells, common with lobster that lacked large claws to defend themselves.
The southern tip of the island was a good few bells away and so she didn't arrive until very early evening. There was still enough light out, though for her to go fishing for a bell or two. She shuddered, though, at the amount of people still present. Konti and foreigners alike. She tried not to get too close. She walked into the water just as she was, submerging herself and watching as her vision cleared under the waves. The southern lobster that resides here were shallow water shellfish, the opposite of their northerly counterparts, and Tap would not need to dive very far to catch them. Hand fishing, although the mist skill technique of fishing she knew, was rather difficult in this situation. Unlike oysters or clams who never moved, lobster had powerful tails that propelled them through the water in short jets, extremely quickly. The trick was to sneak up behind it and grab it either before it noticed the predator or as it becomes frightened and propels right at you, as lobsters tails move them backwards instead of forwards.
Another thing about lobsters is that they love dark hiding places. Reefs are fantastic places to find them and there are quite a few back home in Laviku's Grace, though over fishing has left them smarter and craftier than those living peacefully down south. If a reef inst present they reside inside drop off walls, under large rocks or any solid object with holes, refuse, wreck, etc.
As Tap became one with the water she whispered a quite and quick prayer to Laviku, as she did every time she entered his domain. During the Valterrian Laviku ordered the creatures of the sea to dive deep to avoid the havoc of the war of the Gods. And by doing so saved the ocean populace leading to the salvation of the humanoid race as they looked for food in the aftermath. Tap saw fishing as a gift from Laviku, whom would not allow it if he so thought she was not worthy. Tap made sure to thank her Father for such a gift of life.
