I have put this here because I haven't figured out where I want to add this to the city lore. It is my pleaasure to introduce you to a brand new sport:
IaNharoName: Ianharo
Concept: Ice bowling
Competition: Two player teams in a head to head single elimination bracket
Objective: Symmetrical cubes of icestone (morthwyl) are slid along a flat surface of ice in an effort to knock down nine cylinders (binia) of ice aligned in a diamond. First team to fifty-four wins. The final three matches (semi-finals and finals) are played to eighty-one.
Setup & Gameplay: Teammates stand on opposite ends of a twenty foot long length of ice that is nine feet across. The middle seven feet are perfectly flat but the foot on either side is uneven. A morthwyl may slide off the board or be pushed back in so there is a small aspect of luck involved. Each team is represented on each end and trash talk is encouraged. (Drinking is encouraged but silence is expected while an opponent shoots.)
Special forms have been made that rest on either end of the game along with heaping piles of snow and ice. Each player is responsible for creating the binia for his or her teammate. Using Icereaving, the form is placed on the designated spot (indicated by a solid outline painted on the game surface) then fills the tubes of the form with the snow from the pile. The magic of Morwen’s mark then converts the small amount of material into cylinders of solid ice that are arranged from end to end 1, 2, 3, 2, 1. This is repeated over and over again until the match is over.
Each team has two morthwyls. A player shoots (pushes) the block by standing off to one side. Just past where the first binia stands is a painted line that the players cannot cross. Crossing this line is a fault and the throw does not count. There are no tricks or techniques at this point since the game is new. The morthwyls slide fairly well since the game boards are created by those with two marks of Icereaving and the surface maintains a thin layer of water constantly. This makes the icestone slip right along.
Every turn sees each player throw both of their team’s morthwyl. If all nine binia are crushed on the first throw, the player gets a bonus point and does not need to throw the second block. If both players from the same team clear all nine binia in the same round, an additional point is awarded.
