Nemori was surprised by the redhead’s intervention, having not noticed her arrival. The redhead stood up for the youngest of the group, inserting herself into place. The boy was clearly taken back by her words and opened his mouth to speak before being interrupted by the oldest of the group.
“Some of the snow melted had melted weirdly, right down to the stone in places.” The boy seemed of the opinion that it was easier to let the others talk then risk being mocked more for his youth. Nemori felt sympathy for him, he did a difficult job and seemed to be getting limited respect for the hardships he must have experienced in these past days alone. The stories they told were terrifying to someone who had never left the safety of the city. “It looked almost like a lake was trying to form or something. Clear water right to the rocks.” He moved his hands to gesture downwards and out before pausing uncertainly. “In other spots it liked like someone had tried to explode it the snow away, exposing the thicker ice underneath. It was very odd. Ain’t heard any explosions mind. Something like that I reckon the whole town would have heard it”.
Nemori watched with curiosity from a distance. The group’s attention seemed split. The boy was looking slightly miffed at the redhead woman while the others seemed to be scattered between the increasingly large group. She was almost thankful that she had not joined them completely, able to listen in from the side. Her knowledge of outside the city itself was limited. She was not completely oblivious of course, having read bits and pieces from survival guides and being told titbits in case she ever got stranded out in the wilderness.
