Hey guys. So recently I have been grading a Cook's threads and I've come across a lot of action of food prep before the actual cooking. I was unsure how to grade this task as she spent quite a bit of time explaining her actions of say 'pitting cherries' or 'cutting green onions' and I couldn't think of a skill in the current list to accommodate this. I couldn't reward cooking because the lore states cooking is when you 'add heat'.
With some help I came up with Food Preparation. At first it was just going to be Preparation, but I figured adding 'Food' to it makes it limited to prepping food to serve, like creating salads or de-bearding mussels instead of it also being confused with maybe prepping for something else like preparing a course curriculum for a class.
I was wondering what everyone else thought of this! I think its a decent skill with enough difference from other skills to merit its own classification. But please let me know your thoughts. If this is accepted by the majority I don't think I'd mind beginning the work up.
EDIT: Talking more in Chat has come up with this alternate idea. For a lot of people, including me actually, believe food prep is part of cooking. However since the lore page seems to emphasize the act of adding heat as cooking this eliminates food prep as n action deemed as 'cooking'. The alternate idea is that instead of creating an entire new skill the existing Cooking lore could be minorly edited to remove the emphasis on heat and add food prep as part of cooking.
