As was the plan, Quzon started to stalk his way towards the Male bear. Although, he didn't go in a straight line towards it. He liked the idea that Naiya mentioned to go at it from an arch. It was an idea that he took and modified. "Follow me. Stay low." He spoke to who ever wanted to attack the male bear with him. He turned to walk right into the tall grass in the area, stealing another idea from the Grassbears themselves. He slowly crouched through the grass in a wide semi-circle around the bears. He didn't know much about the animals, but knew he wanted to sneak up on them from upwind; walking in the breeze that blew towards him rather than the bears. Although, the areas rain made it slightly easier to hide his scent.

It took a bit of time, a helpful distraction; which the assault on the female bear offered , and a bit of intuition -- but the pale skinned man had found his path, using the tall grasses that towered around him to his advantage. He used his ax to open up the veil of grass to look at the backside of the large male bear. He had waited to find the perfect spot behind it.

"Attack when ready.." Speaking to whoever, or maybe just himself. A smirk tugged at his lips. An aura of excitement came from the specter of his immediate future, coursing through the grasslands, beckoning Quzon on. It was that excitement which forced him to to calm himself for what he needed to do next. He stood with his hand-ax to keep the grass out of the way, his other left arm extending out in front of him with his palm facing towards the sky as if he were about to pray, then focused on his breathing.

Inhaling through his nostrils, and then exhaling. With each breath he prepared himself for combat, beckoning his soul into action. In a way, this was a sort of prayer as he let all of his worldly problems slip away so that only that moment mattered. Willing the deepest part of his 'self' into action with a primal need to fight. His breathing grew slower as he felt his soul swell through his body like blood. His slow breathing helping to manifest it.

Quzon called it his soul, but most mages knew it properly to be called djed.

With a heavy exhale, Quzon began to emit an ethereal translucent green color from his palm. The small glow hovered above his palm in cloud of gas no bigger than his fist. He then held his palm in the direction of the bear. He had learned Reimancy at a young age as a test of will by his clan. It was a test that he passed, but being so young, he learned to control his elements through emotional trigger.

He willed the cloud of res to take the form of intense wrath. It was an emotion stronger than anger of 'fire', it took the form of burning Lava. And Amunet's complete lack of tact made wrath easy to feel. The outside of the gas began to bubble and crackle around his res, forming a molten shell that he kept control of by keeping its core filled with unaltered res.

He pointed his palm at the back of the bear's right hind leg, took aim, and fired. Forcing the ball to fly away from his hand, and after several meters when it was just on the boarder of his control, turned the res on the inside of the ball into molten lava.

The dense molten rock crashed against the bears leg above the knee, splashing droplets of super heated earth across its hindquarters. The radiant heat of being near it would be enough to set its fur on fire, but what the lava touched would scold and melt away flesh. He gritted his teeth as he missed his true target on the back of its knee. He resined himself to a small victory in at least hitting its leg and having it flow down to its leg. Quzon wanted to go for it's head, but given the groups tactics. He wished to slow its movment by wounded a leg.

Quzon then stepped out of the grass, waving his ax in the air, and roared. His voice booming out through the air to get the Male bear's attention. "GRAHHHHAHHHHAHH" As if what he did wasn't enough to draw its ire. "Tuka!" He called out to Naiya's hunting cat while pointing to the bear as a sign to attack. In preparation for a second volley, he took a deep breath to draw his djed from the depth of his being. The sensation feeling as if his blood were like a river overflowing. A smaller cloud of res seeped from his left palm the size of a gold miza.

The group discussed the plan of action among themselves. Debating and planning as to how they would go about saving the cub. The healer made her decision clear, she would not help kill the bears. Caesi gave a firm nod. She did not agree nor did she disagree with the healer's statement. She nodded in a gesture of respect for the woman's opinion. Turning her attention to the over turned wagon, she scanned the area. The parent bears seemed to be distraught and confused. Pleading to Caiyha for guidance with their guttural noises as they casually smacked at the wagon.

Out of no where she heard hooves pounding on the ground. Amunet had decided to break from the group and was heading towards the wagon. Caesi was shocked and surprised. There was no warning, she took off with determination and a fierce boldness that seemed so unusual for a woman of her size. Naiya spurred her horse into action, yelling to distract and circle and to not stop moving. Naiya surged towards the female grassbear, to help Amunet. Quzon had began to stalk towards the male bear. Going into a wide semi-circle as instructed by Naiya.

Caesi paused for a moment, she was unsure of where Jasmine went. Cursing under her breath she followed Quzon, though she did not dismount from her Strider. She let Quzon go first, as she quietly and stealthy stalked forward. The male grassbear's attention appeared to be on the female that was presently being attacked. Rearing up on two legs he gave a loud roar that seemed to shake Caesi like the earth was trembling. The male grassbear was about to start attacking those who was hurting the female.

However, before he could Quzon was producing what appeared to be fire. Fire was spurting from his palm. Caesi blinked at it, her focus on the man with the fire that was emitting from his person. It was strange, odd, something she had never witnessed before. The fire hit the bear's right hind leg. The fur upon the bear caught on fire, melting away flesh with ease. Caesi spurred her mount into action. The magic was amazing, but she had to get her head in the right place to help the best she could. Gritting her teeth, she tightened her legs and knees around her strider. Balancing herself as she drew an arrow from her quiver.

Caesi found this to be difficult, nearly impossible. So instead she slowed her mare down, dismounting and took aim at the bear, firing an arrow at it. The first shot missed completely, soaring through the air and embedding itself into the ground. Caesi cursed as she kept her distance from the male grassbear, circling the large beast. Pyxis had galloped off from the fight, staying a safe distance away but near enough that if Caesi needed her she would be there.

Grabbing another arrow from her quiver, she nocked it and took aim. Her breathing was rapid and she continued to walk around in a circle, giving the bear distance as she let loose her arrow once more. She aimed for where she thought the lungs would be. However, the arrow missed it's mark and landed into the grassbears thigh.

Quzon waved his axe in the air, roaring a booming noise that was intimidating. Calling forth Naiya's hunting cat to help distract the male bear, as a weird substance appeared at his left palm. Caesi had no more time to be distracted by this strange use of magic. Instead she nocked another arrow, inhaling deeply to calm her racing heart, she exhaled and let the arrow fly. She aimed a little too high, missing the lungs once more. The arrow embedded itself into the large grassbears face, burying into the eye socket.

Caesi blinked as the bear gave a pain filled roar, coming down to all fours. His large paws went for the arrow that was protruding from his eye. This gave the group a small window. Caesi nocked another arrow, preparing herself to take aim. She looked over at Quzon, who seemed to be ready to attack with the magic again. She sent a small prayer up to any of the Gods that would listen, to keep all safe. The rage in the grassbears other eye was evidence that it may have gave them a small window of a distraction, but the two of them were about to have a really pissed off papa bear to deal with.

The Telling of a Tall Tale

Jasmine listened to the people around her. Many had plenty of ideas on what to do. It would be making a final decision that may prove difficult. Amunet had pushed the fact that though both adult bears were a danger she would not help kill them. Watching her from the corner of her eyes the blond wondered when a drykas would become so soft hearted to deadly creatures too close to the city. Looking towards the wagon she began to find a spot; where she could get a rope in the frame so that Chaser could pull the wagon off the cub. Quzon's tale of fire made the woman nervous, but she knew they would need everything in everyone's arsenal.

The pounding of hooves caught the blonde's attention causing her to jerk around seeing Amunet. Growling with a scowl she turned Chaser and followed after Naiya. How could the young red headed woman put all of them in danger by charging in the way she did. It was crazy and unprofessional in the blond's mind and eyes. Pushing the strider harder she grabbed an arrow and her bow. Notching it the woman took aim at the bear and let her arrow fly. Thankfully all it did was brush the monster making her look to the pair of women riding towards her. Roaring she stalked towards the pair ready for anything the humans could dish out. Still mentally cursing the red head she spotted where the rope needed to go. Quickly tying one end to the next arrow she pulled her arm back forcing it to stay straight before releasing it. The weapon flew through the air quickly going through a rather large hole stabbing into the wood within. Steering Chaser around the bear making sure to stay out of reach of her powerful claws. Once close Jasmine jumped from the strider's back as she had secured the rope on the yvas already. Running over she jumped into the over turned wagon and quickly went about securing the rope as finally it snapped tight nearly taking off a finger.

Catching her breath for the moment dodged the paw of the mother bear as she went to slash the woman. Gasping and jumping away from the danger and the wagon so that the rope was not cut; the woman scrambled up and raced to Chaser as quickly as she could. Getting a good hold on the bow she spun around slamming the wooden part of the bow against the bear's face. Letting out another loud snarl Jasmine started scrambling as she had lost many of her arrows in the dodge before hand. Throwing her arms up the two appendages took the brunt of the creature's attack. The mother swung her paw knocking the woman to the side violently. Grunting all Jasmine felt on impact was rocks and dirt digging into her arm ripping flesh from her body.

The ConsequencesJasmine was caught in the side by the mama bear when she swatted the girl from the wagon. Four huge lacerations will start on her back and wrap around her side to just hitting her stomach. Once healed the marks with leave prominent scars from the attack. After hitting the ground the woman will have scratches and rips on her arms from the rocks, but no marks will be left once healed

The details came into her senses and mind as it seemed all around her went into slow motion. Her hand went out as Naiya rushed forward to scream ‘No’ but it was to no avail. In but moments the mother bear had the fierce red head clawed and in the ground in a few ticks. Jasmine’s actions were a bit more calculated but the same ‘No’ uttered was just as futile. Jasmine fared better but her senses picked up the compulsion that she would need some attention. Naiya had the strongest feel. If they had listened to the message on the wind, if they had looked deeper and realized this was bigger than all of them, they could have avoided a lot of this. Her actions were calculated with acknowledged risk. The twinge of her collar bone spoke for a moment as she moved quickly towards Naiya.

Maybe it was her size that kept people from listening to her. No one really paid attention to the point of view of a little nothing red head that just happened to be graced to heal. The arms pumped forward and back to gain momentum as quickly as possible in making it to the downed fierce warrior woman. Was she the only one that heard the winds? Was she the only one that saw the expanded picture of what was before them? It mattered not now as everything was in motion.

The nimble girl slid to her knee right close to the woman placing herself between the red headed warrior and the bear that was closer than she wanted to be to the bear. The girl bowed her head more down and didn’t look the bear in the eye. Her oldest brother and grandfather once told her that you stare down bears and wolves to spark fear in them. Your expression must be strong and unwavering with this type of hunt. The girl figured the opposite to be true. Her eyes lowered as she procured a submissive posture while her bare hand found a bare spot on Naiya’s flesh as the opalescent sigil sprung to life. The girl didn’t move. The one thing she had hoped would happen in the first place started making noise. The cub was scrambling out of the hole he was in and called out plaintively as this caught the mother bear’s attention. The Healer’s heart beat quickened as she shifted her eyes towards the cub as the mother bear went to pay her in little one some attention. The great head of the mother bear turned towards the humans sniffing the air briefly and then snorted a growl before doing what Amunet had prayed they would do. The mother bear started to shuffle her cub away from the place as the tall grass engulfed the pair soon enough.

Once the bears started entering the tall grass and the firey sounds behind her with the male bear and th Isur half breed’s battle was well engaged she turned her attention to Naiya. The medical side of the little young doctor/healer took over and she spread Naiya’s top to get a look at the wound. The wound was not closed completely but the edges looked like healing had started, the wound looked pinky and wasn’t bleeding completely. “Hang on, Naiya.” The touch had lent her a sense as her head went down towards her feet. The girl sent to remove her boots as gently as possible as it revealed one of the ankles was swollen and slightly off. Either it was badly sprained or broken. In either case it was non weigh bearing to say the least.

Her strider was right there with his nose in the way. “Hey big fella. “ The red head said softly to Wildfire as she gently would push his nose out of the way of her examination. She didn’t fault the strider for his concern in the least bit. Amunet had to get the taller red head towards her mare which had her medical supplies. Her hand went to the pregnancy bump as she closed her eyes to ‘feel’ out the baby, a kick, a flutter, something. There was some sense of distress as the the grace granted to her would reach out to the unborn child. The sense that the unborn child was doing better than the mother came to her senses. The healer went to the now abandoned broken wagon to undo her rope. Once she returned to Naiya that calculating mind furrowed as she moved in front of Wildfire. The soft click of her tongue and the sign for back beckoned the horse to back into a better spot on the side of the broken ankle.

She wanted to get Naiya over to the other side in case the mother bear decided to return. Animals can be unpredictable and she hoped that the care of the cub would have the mother bear busy and the instinct to take the cub far away from here would hold steady. It took her a chime or two to get the loop set and up around Naiya’s arms. “Sorry that hurt. Im going to go to your bad ankle side and get you up.” The healing would have helped with some pain but not all of it. The stout girl got under that side and lifted with her knee. There was a hissing between the teeth and a restrained groan as it pulled on her collar bone. “Naiya. Hang.. on.. to.. the yvas. “ The girl clicked her tongue to hopefully signal her strider forward towards where Shetanae was at. The Healer could feel her need for attention as well.

The hobbling trio of a mass of horse and women took a chime or three to get towards the relative safety of the grassy ‘knoll’ where Shetanae was at. By the time they reached that spot that was a scant fifty feet from the wagon, Amunet was tearing at the pain in her collar bone. She did not dare let go of Naiya. Her arms were trembling as she slowly lowered her into the grass and breathed heavily. “I .. will… do a few tack stitches….. “ she had to catch her breath a little bit before she continued. “and set.. your ankle. I need the … RiverFlower.. to clean it … properly.. and.. stitch .. properly. This will hurt. “ The girl was sweating profusely at this point. Prominent bruising was showing up on the pale skin in alarming colors of black, deep blues and deep purples along the neck collar bone and below it as that part of the shirt dropped over her shoulder a little.

The red head looked up to catch her breath a little more before shoving and forcing herself up to her feet and to her mare. The hand went gently down the shoulder and down towards the affected knee that was obviously swollen. Before the eyes, the grace surrounded the knee and the swelling reduced as the mare’s eyes perked up a bit. They would have to walk back but it looked better. Amunet pulled her yvas bag and pack off and settled back down with Naiya. Lifting her head towards Jasmine and raising her voice. “Get over here. I got to clean that up!! “ Hopefully letting the blonde girl know that Amunet was fully aware that she was hurt. The young medical doctor didn’t want to admit it and it was a subtle way of perhaps acquiring help.

The gentle hands were no nonsense as she parted the other red head’s top garments once again and looked at the worst of it. The water from her skin poured over the open flesh before reaching for a bottle of astringent and a folded linen cloth and pressed it to the wound. Amunet pushed her focus to be firm as she worked. “This can end up being a nice scar pattern but I got to clean the edges up.” The girl said to Naiya absently before bringing out a needle and sterile gut to tack the wound more shut. With a sure hand, the little lady started to use the larger pieces of ragged skin to bring the edges loosely together. “The baby is fine.” As if answering some unasked question that was inevitable, the Healer started in a way to have Naiya talking instead of focusing on her stitch tacks. “The baby is doing better than you are. “ There was an attempt at a bit of humor. Amunet’s bed side manner was known to be very good. There was a total of five tack stitches before she put more astringent on a folded piece of linen and bandage the wound for travel.

“You think once I get your ankle set and I can get you on your strider, can you ride?” The girl asked her as she went down to the denuded swollen foot. Her fingers went up the calf to feel for the bone placement gently. Amunet then acquired long pieces of wood and more linen. Using her dagger, she cut a four inch wide portion and ripped down to make stripes. Her face twitched with each tear as her collar bone twinged. The red head was very pale herself.

Wildfire reared and Naiya clung to him tightly to keep her seat. It was a struggle she may have done better to forget. While they two were off balance, the bear raised up to swipe a heavy claw at Naiya, catching her across the chest.

Shock barreled though her, and she lost everything, her seat, her spear, her mount as she fell backwards towards the ground. She tried to catch her fall, or something to keep this from being devastating, but she seemed to move extra slow as time sped by double around her.

She hit the ground and a second pain made itself known, her ankle catching poorly as she landed, knocking her fully on her back. She scrambled for her spear, finding the wood in the dirt she lifted it against protesting from her chest. She aimed the spear weakly at the bear, preparing herself to attack should the creature swing back around.

She lost focus, the next clear image she found was Amunet, hovering over her a warm hand pressed against her bare skin. "Bear. Move, go." she both warned and commanded, but Amunet had none of it. Naiya was warm, like a summer breeze, something filled her chest, eased her pain.

Pain brought her back to focus again, halfway hanging from Wildfire's back. She pulled against the yvas, the rope burning where it touched skin, lifting herself the rest of the was across Wildfire's back. Amunet seemed to immediately pull her back down, lowering her into the grass and back into the danger of being unmounted.

Burning in her chest, the cloth Amunet held bringing a new feeling of pain to her as well as a clearer head. Amunet told her the baby was well, safe, and that was good, perhaps the only good thing to come of this catastrophe of a search mission.

Can ride, positive Naiya didn't waste breath, simply confirming the girl's question, she pressed herself up despite the pain it caused in her chest. Set now, fast, am ready. She braced herself while she watched the woman ready, though she was clearly in pain of her own.

When Amunet set the bone, Naiya screamed. She knew it would hurt, but still the shout made it all the more bearable. She gritted her teeth as Amunet splinted the ankle, and Naiya called to Wildfire, a sound wasted as the horse hovered just beside her.

She grasped hold of the yvas, pulling herself to standing, then careful not to use her bad ankle, she hopped into the seat, hissing as her ankle bounced against Wildfire's side.

"You should go Amunet, you are more injured than the rest of us." She told the woman, leaning back in her seat to better reach the ties that held her bow.

Banti appeared at Wildfire's side, and Naiya realized that the mother bear had left, perhaps to get her last cub to safety, and that left the rest of them to deal with the male. Banti, Hunt she signed, her eyes following the feline as she raced into the fray.

Tuka yowled a greeting as Banti took a place opposite him, Kabek flanking them both. Naiya could see that something had indeed happened to the bear, as his back leg was alight with fire, black slime slowly rolling down his leg, causing the spread of the fire.

The bear roared fury and pain, turning to glare at Caesi, that left an opening for the cats, Kabek dove for his front paw, Banti leapt onto his back and Tuka raced in to bat at his face before fleeing. The bear swiped at Tuka first, barely catching the cat's tail as he fled. The feline snarled but swung back to a safe distance, waiting for his next opening.

Kabek tore at the leg he held with his hind legs, his teeth boring into muscle as he fought. The bear swiped at him, but missed as Banti took hold of his neck in her powerful jaws. She was too small to shake him to death, perched upon his shoulders, but it didn't stop her from trying, nor from tearing at his neck with her hind legs.

She slipped, hanging from his neck by her teeth as the bear raised up onto hind legs, and Tuka raced back in to help distract the bear, leaping to grab hold of the second paw as Kabek clung to the first.

Naiya drew an arrow from the quiver at her shin, pulling back to fire at the bears rear. Her first arrow landed between the bears legs, but the second caught his hip. The unexpected attack sent the bear spinning, all three cats leaping of tossed away from the creature as he sought the origin of the attack.

Naiya was a sitting target, so she pressed Wildfire into a canter, not to be caught by the bear nor jostled by a trot. She rode in circles remaining far beyond the bear's reach, she wouldn't take a second risk with an up close encounter with a bear.

The Telling of a Tall Tale

Having been burned, the bear had never been more aware of Quzon than it was in its entire life. Ever aware of that looming pale menace who drew nearer.

He walked a fine line. The more time he spent in the grass bears company, the less he'd feared it. Quzon was born into war and he had to believe that he now had his utmost wits about him. Quzon held the hand-axe with a vice like grip as he took one more step closer, an angry smoldering in his eyes. "I will feast on your heart." He growled. A threat spoken in Myrian that acted less as a statement, but rather, worked as an incantation to summon that festering wrath back into the forefront of his mind. His djed became reality bread through emotion, causing that gold miza sized gas of res above his left hand to grow into the size of an average apple.

It was tantalizing, those surges of emotion that fueled his passion willing the outer shell of res to burn with molten fury. The grass bears had enough intelligence to stagger backwards at the sight of the sphere of heat, either out of fear or self-preservation... but s soon as the bear took its step backwards, Quzon pounced on the creatures weakness by charging directly at it.

He erupted into a focused run, letting the lava ball orbit next to him. He was not the most agile of being, yet Quzon's blustering charged seemed to bolster by a sudden surprising grace. The Prowess granted to him by Myri empowered him with agility in combat. Once he had entered three feet of the bear, he stopped short to thrust his left palm forward; the acted flinging the ball of lava directly at the bear as the interneal res transmuted into lava.

Quzon closed the distance for one reason alone, he did not want to miss hitting the grass bare directly on the face. The Myrian basked in the sound of the bears pain filled roars as the glob of lava collided with the creatures head, splattering into its eyes, and cascading down its nose to set its head on fire. He wasted no time in running forward to swing his hand-aw with a savage strike to the general area of the bears neck; the strikes aim made slightly more accurate through his gnosis mark.

Once the blade of the hand-axe was lodged into its neck, he bashed his free hand into the blunt end of the axe to drive it in deeper. Then, used his free hand to rend it out of the wound. The bear's pained flailing caused its body to beat and batter against him, a bear claw slashed at his chest leaving several claw marks a he jumped backwards to get away from it, landing hard on his back. He didn't stay there for long as he stood back up to his feet.

"Bring it down! Attack together! Bring it down! Tuka attack legs! Horsewomen; attack the head!" His chest burned with pain, but it felt amazing. He loved the pain, it made him feel sanguine. The axe in his hand dripping with blood.

The Telling of a Tall Tale

The flurry of fiery attacks created confusion but it did much more than wound the great animal; it revealed purpose. This newcomer wielded power unlike spears and arrows and must be dealt with. On fire and in pain, the father bear turned to face Quzon as if ignoring the smell of its own back burning. When the second orb of burning light was formed, the bear did, in fact, take a few steps back. It seemed that he was not entirely sure what to make of the floating flames.

As the attacks ensued, the large female came back into the area. It seemed that she wanted to retrieve the body of her other cub; perhaps she did not fully understand that it was dead. The living cub returned as well staying close to its mother. The proximity of papa to mama bear was relatively small now and any cats making way towards the male from north or west would have to go through a very tense female. The cries of her mate coupled by the smell of her dead cub created a powerful rage inside the large and beautiful creature. Having already clawed a few humans, she was eager to take shots at the fast yet small felines.

This simple game of shared focus did well to keep the intruders at bay for a time. The lucky shot of a human struck the male in his eye and forced another cry of pain. This seemed to embolden the man with hands of flame into a charge. Thinking he had an advantage, the outlander lacked a true knowledge of grassbears. When they back up, it makes for a good time to leave. Charging a wounded beast of nearly a thousand pounds was going to prove foolish.

The quick speed of the large man caused the bear to stop his slow retreat. Just as the man came to a stop, he would be set upon in a three part motion. A few feet put him in range of the massive arm and deadly claws so the bear swung his left front paw up and across aiming to slice the man through his midsection from hip to shoulder. This upward momentum carried into the bear standing on his hind legs. Back on fire and legs ripped open, the male fueled its rage with the cries of its young and mate. The lava burst into its gut almost the second it reached the full height of nearly nine feet. This grievous injury buckled the beast which instantly came down with both claws aimed at the charging man wielding an ax. A hand ax in the thick of the bear’s meaty chest and abdomen would not do much aside from agitation. The full size of the beast, engulfed in flames was now upon Quzon.

The blade struck true just above the lava burn in the bear’s belly but the reimancer was now in a bad way. The cooking carcass was too large for him to move even with the power of his goddess to aid him. Furthermore, the expense of his res in the manner which he had done now left him drained. Because he had pushed his limits, the skin on his back split open down to his spine and the pain from the exposed nerve endings being crushed against the coarse grass would be excruciating. To make matters even more dire, the pain came in waves overtaken in bouts of rest fueled by delirium where the man would feel like he was in a childhood memory. The visions would be so intense and real that they will linger in his mind for weeks.

The group now has a choice to make. The great bear is all but dead but his threat is now a burning mess of meat, fur and teeth that have pinned the only male member to the ground. This man is injured and cannot help himself. If left alone, he will die. The mother bear has created enough of a berth around her dead cub to begin dragging it away from the wagon. The injured cub sticks close to her and any who attempt to draw near risk being charged. While she is in a defensive posture around her young, the matron realizes her mate is gone and that rage is sitting inside just waiting for a target; an excuse to charge. The burning bear’s hide is blown with the wind against the wagon, now on its side. There are two chests of expensive make. One is small and one is large, too large to carry but it might be dragged if properly secured.

The Telling of a Tall Tale

Jasmine saw Amunet waving her over to where the two women were. Standing up a wave of pain coursed through the blonde's side. Groaning her left arm wrapped around her body tightly trying to stop the pain. A wet coldness on her side caught her attention. Looking down the woman's side had become covered in blood from where the claws had sliced into her side. Hearing the battle on the other side of the wagon Jasmine quickly got to Amunet letting her see about the injury. Turning so that the woman could examine her right side, and the blonde could watch the fight a gasp wretched from her body seeing how the battle had ended.

"We need to get the bear off him. But first is there anything we can put the fire out with?" Jasmine asked.

Her cloak was the first thing that came to mind. It was still soaked from the earlier bout of rain. Hoping Zulrav would once again start pouring on the the blond got the cloak and used it to get the fire back. Jerking back several times the woman rubbed where the fire was hitting her skin trying to catch her on fire as well. Panting she ignored the pain in her arms and her side while working. Chaser neighed watching his rider worried. Jasmine tried to steer clear of the mama bear and her still alive cub. The animals had been put through enough torture by the Drykas people.

"Grab as much rope as possible. Tie it to the yvas, I am going to try and roll this bear off him using the horses. All of them will listen to me yes?" Jasmine asked looking at the other two girls.

A quick glance at Amunet's strider told the woman all she needed to know. An injured knee would not be something easy for the mare or her rider to over come. Though the pair that Naiya brought at first glance appeared fine just as Chaser was. While everything was in motion the blonde ran over to the stallion still ignoring the pain in her side. Clicking her tongue the strider trotted over to her waiting on her. Growling the woman finally got the knot untied, taking him around to where the dead male bear was. It took some coaxing for her to get the stallion close enough to tie the rope around the bears far leg.

The blue man threw a sphere of the same quickly blackening ooze at the bear, running up right between his paws to do so. The bear scrambled, and Banti let out a pained sound as she was caught partially beneath the paw of the bear. She scratched and clawed at the creature's leg, nut the bear was focused totally on Quzon.

Naiya lined up her arrow coming to a stop on Wildfire's back to adjust her grip and line up a shot with her bow. In stillness she only had her own balance to contend with as she sat atop Wildfire's back, that and the heaving of her mount's chest. She loosed her arrow letting it fly it missed, but the bear was so distracted that she had time to shoot a second and a third. One arrow, whether hers or not she could hardly tell seemed to strike the bear in the eye, she could only curse the luck that it was not heavy enough to pierce his skull and damage his brain.

It seemed to hardly matter, for in the next few ticks the bear fell smothering their companion and trapping him beneath the enormous weight. With a curse she moved again, coming alongside Drelah to get his help, they both joined Jasmine, allowing her to quickly add ties to their Yvas so they could pull the bear off their companion. She noticed the beast blink, a feeble struggle towards life and she dismounted with great care for her ankle before moving forward to stab him in the back of the neck, just below his skull. It was more difficult on a bear than a small animal, but she felt great relief when he struggled no more. "Feis zul rhotame." She spoke to the bear, honoring his passing before returning to the moment of saving Quzon.

"On three, ready?" She paused only a moment, using her good leg to hop back into place on Wildfire's back, then began her count, counting steady beats. "One, two, three." She pressed against Wildfire with her calves and clicked loudly at Drelah to spur him into motion. She was glad to be back mounted, but greatly regretted the decision to do so alone, her ankle protested the motion even though she had been careful not to bang it against Wildfire's side.

Still, the horse struggled beneath her, and she could see Drelah pulling his weight as well, he was a pack horse, this was what he did, still the bear was large, and this was a true struggle.

The Telling of a Tall Tale

Quzon could feel the pain following all of his nerves which lit up across his chest like fire, and the air smelled of scorched bear furn and flesh as he groaned in pain. Time almost seemed to slow down into impossible stillness, his body failing the budge from the weight that laid atop of him. The sustained sound of Quzon's beating heart throbbed in his ear, a beat that turned into a thousand echoed screams of battle within his mind. The sickening smell of burning bear began to mix and confuse within him into that of smell of burning man flesh, It was a smell that he'd grown accustomed to. There were moments in his life when he relished the opportunity to feast on other races, participated in the cannibalization of slain enemies.

And as he laid there, all he could do was wallow in his victory and pain.

He began to hear the cacophonous chanting Myrian's all singing a song of glory around him that matched the quickened echoed beat of his heart. His emerald eyes flickered in sudden realization that other Myrians were around, and that he needed to show he was a proud warrior by accepting his pain, trying not to groan or let his weakness lessen his victory. A gesture that kept his pride in tact, but left Quzon to suffer in silence.

The glory was the only thing that mattered to him until he began to scream out in his native language, singing out to join the Myrian chant blaring through his mind. “Let our bodies be as your blooded weapon, through our suffering we find victory! Through this sacrifice, glory!" His head shifted slightly, just enough for his mouth to press against the bear as he started to bite into it, his jaw clenching as he started to gnaw and chew into it wanting to keep eating until he tasted blood.

Quzon entered into a reverie, believing he was apart of a sacrifice ritual, eating not a bear but the remains of a slain human back in Taloba.
