Name: Roan Blacktide
Race: Svefra
Age: 18 - Born on the 18th of Spring 498AV
Gender: Male
Physical description: Roan was born with poliosis; a condition that left a tuft of icy white hair between his golden locks, a white patch of skin on his forehead, a stripe of white across his left brow and the thick black eyelashes of his left eye. Others find it strange. Personally he recons it adds character. He's a handsome boy with just a touch of androgyny to his youthful features. It is obvious he's not yet of age. Roan's eyes are brilliant blue like the tides of the Suvan within which he was born. He isn't overtly tall nor is he by any means short, built of lean muscle, with a jubilant sense of energy to his stride and his manner.
Home: A tiny rooftop apartment in Ravok. It is an open plan, single room with a hearth at the centre, a bunk for him and his son, a chest of belongings, a small table and chair in the corner. The floor and ceiling are panelled with old, creaking wood but the windows - the windows are the best part of the apartment. So big a whole person would fit though them, they look out to the lake Ravok.
Concept and history: Everyone must eventually grow up but to Rowan responsibility was taught at an age too young when at the age of 14 he got a girl pregnant. From there on his life was never the same again. Still he rose up to the responsibility of a young Svefra father of a baby boy whom they named Orin, a spitting image of himself or so his family said. And though it wasn't easy, though tears and sleepless nights and the first steps and the first dive Orin became his whole life. He was and is the single greatest driving force in Roan's life for the toils and troubles did not end there. It was late fall of 496AV that his family's ship was stranded in a great overnight storm and by the morning all by Roan and his baby were left unclaimed by the waters. The years after seemed to pass in the blink of an eye as the need for a new start took the two to Ravok where Roan found employment, an apartment, stability yet never would the zest for the waves abandon him.
Roan's a loud mouth. Whatever thoughts enter his mind, leave though his mouth straight after before he has the chance to think. He can be charming and charismatic though most of the time just finds trouble. Street smarts are his kind of smarts. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed (a symptom of his youth and inexperience) and certainly doesn't make the effort to instil those values in his son. He is however a curious creature, simply finding more curiosities on the streets of Ravok rather than between the pages of dusty old tomes. Like all Svefra he has a flare of the sea, a love of marine animals, the self and the sun on his face and though lake Ravok has become an apt surrogate home, often does he yearn for the Suvan. Often dearly does he miss it.
Religion: Like all Svefra, Roan is incredibly superstitious. He vehemently worships Laviku as he'd been instructed to by his father and grandfather from almost the very day he was born. Among his Personal favourites are Leth and Syna to whom he says a personal short prayer every day at sunrise and sunset, Lhex thanks to whom he could accept the tragedy that destroyed his pod, and oddly enough Kel and Wyn with whom he feels a certain closeness.
Companions: Nella, called more frequently by 'Scaredy Cat' rather than her normal name. Roan bought the raggedy looking thing when they first moved to Ravok hoping she'd keep Orin company when he was at work. She's a lean, thin girl with a brindled grown and grey coat that doesn't quite seem to all grow to the same length resulting in tufts of hair poking out every which way. She's got a white patch beneath her chin and massive yellow eyes that make her look like she's constantly scared of something. Eyes are the window to the soul after all.
Other pets: The only thing uglier than a baby swan is 4 baby swans. Pitiful creatures. Since the purchase in spring of 516AV Roan's been meaning to justify this purchase to no avail. Now he has 4 of them, the size of his forearm with scruffy grey feathers making a racket. He keeps them in a large, grass lined cage in front of a window in his room. They're ever so fond of him, following him out the front door every morning for a sunrise swim in the lake.
