"Speech." // Timestamp: 516av / Fall, 2nd

"Soon... my sweet Strider."

It was to sooth the alerted Strider, Brocton knew something was up, but he wasn't sure what it was, the best he could do with Jinx was to sooth her before something goes wrong, and he and Jinx were both alone, and that wouldn't end up well if the two were caught in a heap of trouble, in fact it could probably lead to death. There are many ways to die here out in the Sea of Grass, one of the most dangerous biomes known to mankind, and those like mankind. Brocton wasn't planning to die, he promised his mother that he'll be back soon before dinner, so he has all day practically.

The vibrant glows of Synas rays warmed Brocton, and the heat this early in the Fall meant for good hunting, and Brocton wouldn't give up days like this for anything, and it's mandatory for him to hunt, hunting for a Pavi is considered tough, and one Drykas hunting for more than a handful of other Drykas isn't actually making things easier for the hunter, in fact it only adds a little more stress to what he needs to do.

Jinx is a dark brown Strider; one that's stubborn, brave, and of course smart. She's pretty fast when she wants to be, but Brocton knows that she could push herself if she really wanted to, but he was unsure why she would pull back on running as hard as she can, a Strider like herself, there's a lot like her, but she's more unique than any other Strider out there.

Brocton sat on top of the Yvas, he calmly leaned forward and stroked the horses' hairs gently, abusing to her and doing whatever he can to calm the mare down, but she's still a little weird.

"Calm down girl." Brocton started, he was sure that something was wrong, but he looked around the tall blades of grass from where he was positioned, wind coursed through his hair kicking it back and he let it fly around the back of his head, though he was more curious in the grass. He didn't see anything, no not really, he wasn't sure what he was looking for, but then he decided to take a look up, he noticed an odd thing, something odd indeed.

He noticed... Crows and ravens circling high above the ground, perhaps about a hundred feet high, maybe higher depending the size they are at this point.

"Oh, so that's what your afraid of huh girl?" Brocton said, padding the mares neck gingerly. The Strider snorted and Brocton was sure that she would have said something snarky, if she would be able to talk. "Sorry Jinx, I just didn't know what your afraid of, let's go check it out."

"It's nothing girl. Jinx calm down ." Brocton cooed to the mare as he stroked the Strider's mane to calm her down- this usually works for the most part, otherwise he would need treats or something to calm her down; stuff like carrots or apples. Damn, if only he packed some, perhaps Jinx was hungry or something, Brocton could find a canopy of trees for her and perhaps they grow apples? It's not too late to pick apples, is it? The weather is still fairly warm and Morwen hasn't dldropped her snow in Cyphrus yet- so it still should have some sort of vegetation growing.

"Maybe, we could find some apples for you girl? I know you like those yes? That would help calm you down, right?" Brocton asked, as he looked up into the sky and noticed that the dark feathered birds had flown off away from Brocton and Jinx. Jinx snorted in return and continued to walk once more. Brocton relaxed his grip on the sides of the mare and was glad that she calmed herself down.

"Thank you girl." Brocton said happily as he checked to see if his arrows hadn't fallen out of his quiver or anything. Thankfully, they haven't, and he didn't need to worry about that any more, his longsword was still in it's sheath, good. About a few more miles, fortunate enough for Brocton, he could see a faint glimpse of q canopy of trees. He hoped to find some apples, maybe some decent game as well.

He lightly tapped his heels against the mares sides and she sped up her pace, Brocton gripped onto the Yvas and made sure to lean forward a bit, he didn't want the feeling of turbulence bothering him during the whole ride.

Eventually, they found themselves facing the Canopy of trees. Brocton was at a point where he could trust Jinx not leaving him without having to tie her down, after all, Strider's were meant to be free, as they're an important part of the wild, and they're important to the Drykas.

Brocton gathered his gear as they've stopped in front of the canopy of trees he didn't know how far they carried. It was a good thing he had his waterskin as well, and some extra food. The nearest tree had apples, and the branches were close enough to Brocton that he he had to jump up and snatch a few. He grabbed some and handed them to Jinx, as she ate the apples, Brocton stroked the mare and whispered, saying he'll be back. He hoped to keep that promise. He's not very good at keeping track of direction, but he can try to find his way back. He hoped that he could make it out safely.

The canopy was damp and almost dark inside. Brocton had an arrow ready as he walked through the small canopy it was creepy almost, he heard noises, like bushes rsttling. He wondered if there was anything he could find in here, and that the animals were still here. After all, if it was damp, there must be a small lake, or pond- maybe a river even, that's near by and he could hunt for fish and have fish for lunch. His stomach rumbled as he thought about food, it's only been a few Bells since he had been outside of Endrykas, he did have breakfast with his Pavillion before he set out.

Brocton crouched as he walked deeper through the small woods and used whatever light to his advantage. Thank you Syna for light. Brocton thought to himself, ever since Summer last year, and his visit to It one with Amunet and Lodai, he had a great respect for the Gods, and one for Ferem as well. He didn't remember her assistants name, but he could always go back and ask- maybe he should visit them some time soon, pay his reosects?

There was a faint rustle of wind, and then everything went silent. Somehow, the darkness of the canopy opened up with light, and more of the environment opened up before Brocton, ignited and clear by Synas glow, almost making things seem peaceful.

Further into the canopy he spotted a small river, from the corner of his eye, it flowed the direction he was looking at, whatever direction it was, he was sure that there were animals around it- somewhere where he could easily knab them as game.

Brocton would set up a snare of some sort, but alas, he dies not have any rope or strong material such like it. The hunter sighed as he looked around inside the canopy, he heard some animal noises, but couldn't quite depict what they are, or what they're not. Eventually, finding a water source of some sort would be good, because it would be soon that he would need to refill his waterskin as he took a swig of it. He cursed under his breath and continued to move on. He followed the river. Where there's a river, there's bound to be a small lake or something, again, Brocton hoped to not find any wolves or anything dangerous that might be out here in the canopy.

Brocton knew why the Drykas can't just live in one spot like the other cities and people can. Well, he partially knows why, most of the reason is because the Drykas take up a lot of the crops for food and resources. The Drykas were born as travelers, and even though most of them have not traveled around Mizahar, pretty much all of them tracked around Cyphrus.

The rushing sound of the river increased as Brocton followed the stream, he made sure to stay a few feet ahead, as he might not know what sort of animals live inside these waters. Brocton loosened his grip on his hold of the arrow.

He found, a pond. Sure, it's small, but it was big enough to fill his waterskin and quite fresh. Brocton put down his short bow on the ground, and kneeled, cupping his hands, he took a handful of water from the pond and took a nice big drink. He found the water source, now all he had to do was wait.

Finding a water source. It was exactly what he needed, though, he wasn't too sure of when a creature would come wander for a quench. Finding open water can be difficult, especially outside in the Sea of Grass. Brocton was beginning to feel nervous, his sympathetic nervous system was slowly engaging with the environment and his awareness slightly increased, the hunter wasn't so sure what to do. He was beginning to worry about his Strider. He wondered if she was okay, and nothing happened to her. Sure, she could run to the gates, so that she could alert the other Drykas stationed there and they would have to come and look for Brocton. He didn't want that, so he wondered if he could find game more easily. He figured he could set a distraction or something... he wondered if whatever he could come up with would work.

"Maybe, I could make some noise? Capture animal by killing it?"Brocton said aloud, though, he felt uncomfortable making a ton of noise out in the middle of nowhere. He felt ridiculous just thinking about it, maybe he wouldn't need to create a large distraction, hopefully...

"Well... it's worth a shot."Brocton told himself as he looked around and saw how he could make a snare of some sort that could trap the creature. He wondered what sized of an animal he could be able to catch, it would help him to create a decent enough sized trap for that animal. Brocton wandered around through the small clearing. He looked over and under bushes, trying to find some sort of thick vine that he could use to set a trap.

Eventually, he found a vineyard, collapsed over a couple trees surrounding a small river. Brocton smiled, he was glad that he found something. The hunter jogged over, despite his legs burning from walking all over these woods. He started heading over to the small vineyard, wondering what was waiting for him.

One thing for sure. He didn't want to leave empty handed.
