Summer 30
Today is a good day! Garland had nothing to do but relax and work on his muscles and train. He had been lacking in his training recently, it was less than a season before Garland's children were born, he had plenty on his mind, he had a family to take care of and with no income, he was in trouble right now.
He had been thinking of quitting the squire temporarily to become a mercenary or a woodcutter, but he wasn't sure if that would be enough for twins, he had went to two fortune tellers and both of them said that he was to expect twins. He had been thinking about it for almost everyday since he was told the news.
Today was his day to try and get the thoughts out of his head. He had sat down on top of the walls watching two fighters spar with each other, it had been quite a while since he had come back here so today would be a nice refresher, he was getting tired of sparing with untested squires or newly appointed knights.
Though it probably isn't any better here, yet here there were no guidelines to follow, no rules, a squire can train with knights and such, but usually the knights never actually take the spar seriously, they either lose to overconfidence or win without letting the squire learn from the experience.
Here in the pits, it was as real as it could get without bloodshed. Fights were as real as anything else here, the weapons were blunted but real, the punches were real and hard and the people were real, they won't hold back.
This was where Garland had learned to fight properly, the place where he would be knocked down to the ground with a sword in his hands only to get back up to fight harder and faster and try to win, to try and become better than himself, to become better than his opponent.
Today Garland watched and waited on top of the low broken wall of the ruins where the pits were constructed, well... not constructed, but re-purposed to be the Fighter's Pit.
He was itching for a real fight here, with anyone, he was even willing to just train with someone, to teach them the basics of fighting or something. He stretched a bit to limber up his limbs. He was waiting for an opponent to join him in the pits.
