Sloane was panting, her shoulder and arm beginning to tremble and ache. When Hansel spoke, Sloane sighed happily, arm dropping to her side almost instantly. Grunting, she rubbed at the twinging tired muscle, not used to keeping up such vigorous exercise, at such a pace, for so long. "Alright, alright." She huffed, pouting playful. "I'll let you escape then." She smirked, glad that they'd been able to end things on a positive note this time.
Sloane stood back, watching as Hansel gathered his things, smile lingering on her face. She'd been enjoying the afternoon, and was disappointed to see it come to an end. Since arriving in Endrykas, Sloane could count on one hand the times she'd really been able to let loose and enjoy what she was doing, and at least two of those had involved Hansel. Similarly, improving her skill with her bow and learning to use both a throwing knife and a dagger helped her feel more at ease in this new world, stronger and more in control.
"Next time..." Sloane perked up at the words, gaze flicking up quickly to linger on Hansel's face as he spoke. She smiled up at him, lopsided and exhausted, intrigued by the idea that she'd be able to practice her new found skill with him. She still felt that twinge of anxiety that she might screw up in some way, but it was less intense now and Sloane knew that it would continue to fade the more she got the chance to practice and familiarize herself with using the blade.
Hansel moved closer, and Sloane tilted her head curiously, eye's glinting with satisfaction and excitement, both at how well the day had turned out, and the days to come. He took the blade from her, and she let him, relaxed and trusting, as he pushed it back into its sheathe. It was strange, the Hansel she knew now seemed worlds removed from the version she'd met at the beginning of the season, and the more she got to know him the more interested Sloane became. Before, she wouldn't have imagined letting him draw so close to her, and she certainly wouldn't have let him take her weapon so easily, but things had changed it such a short period of time. She liked spending time with someone, without constantly worrying about what they may be planning for her, or what they may be saying in a language she couldn't understand.
Sloane rubbed at her nose, concealing a soft, amused smile when Hansel stepped back, arms coming up almost defensively, gruff tone raising with it. "I'll have it done by this time tomorrow." Sloane nodded, glancing over to where she'd left both of their bows. "I can come by your pavilion with it then, or the next day, just suppose how late it is." She shrugged, stretching her arm out as the muscles protested. "But don't you worry, I'll take good care of it." She assured him, before her attention fell back to the knife on her hip. "And again, Hansel, thank you."
OOCNo problem! I'll pop this up in the grade thread now Looking forward to the next one!
