Character ConceptAn Isur who is missing the pride of his race, their holy arm, and who never took much interest in making things anyway. He is much more interested in opening things up, and finding out what makes them tick. He is an investigator of people, somebody who likes to provoke people, just to see how they'll react. He can take a hell of a punch too, since he's not going to be throwing any anytime soon. He's not recognized as part of Izurdin's blessed people, and as an exile he is nameless in the eyes of his kindred. So he's given himself a name. A name worthy of his current situation. A son of evil. A father to what?
Rhyson's chief personality traits are Truth-seeking, Loyal, Deceptive, and Stubborn, Well-spoken, Mild Sociopath.
Rhyson was the garrulous leader of a street gang in his younger years, and while he never took up fighting in any real pretext, he did find himself to be increasingly better at procuring secrets and information making his group of youthful criminals stand out like a giant among children in the Citadel's Underworld. It was eventually in part because of his actions as a gang leader that Rhyson was exiled from Sultros.
Character HistoryAs a child, Rhyson became sick and his arm had to be lopped off. His parents were prepared to raise him despite his infirmity. When Rhyson grew to adulthood however, his bitterness and caustic delight in pulling people apart culminated in a series of unfortunate events which will be put to pen later. The result of his expulsion from Sultros, was his apparition in Ravok, and the beginnings of his new life as an investigator, inquisitor, and Person Who Knows Things.
Upon being exiled, Rhyson drifted. He spent a season in Kalinor, went over to Wind Reach for a spell. And left Kalea entirely around 460 AV. The next ten years he spent wandering from Eyktol to Taldera, seeing the coldest and hottest climes in Mizahar. Wherever Rhyson went, he left a trail of broken secrets and wizened criminals. His luck broke in 471 AV when he was captured and enslaved by a wandering Symenestra who further enabled Rhyson to practice his language. Unusually, Rhyson and the Symenestra developed a relationship beyond master and slave, and after following his master for close to 20 years, Rhyson was released from captivity and formally freed in 490 AV. The last 27 years of Rhyson's turbulent life have been the most obscure to any who might have been curious about his biography. Never having kept a name for longer than a couple years, Rhyson began going by Rhyson Halfhame in the last 7 years. He was freed in Sylira and had offered his services to his former master who declined. It is generally known that Rhyson has been a obedient if reclusive citizen of Ravok since 510 AV. It's only recently, in 517 AV, that the man has come out of his shell once more.
Why Rhyson? Halfhame's Connection to RhysolRhyson chose his name when he arrived in Ravok after he visited the Temple of Ravok and observed a ceremony performed by the Black Sun. The adoption of the name is both an attempt to ingratiate himself with the clergy, as well as an intimidation tactic, to be employed against those who are not native to Ravok. Rhyson's ideology loosely aligns with that of Rhysol's, and the Isur admires the god because he perceives what is widely termed "evil" to be, in actual fact, the disregard of others' wishes, and the determination of one's own fate by oneself. The name empowers, protects, and evokes the rejected nature of Rhyson's identity all very nicely. He will probably use this name for the foreseeable future.
As of his arrival in Ravok, Rhyson has become a practicing worshipper of Rhysol and regularly attends sermons held at the god's temple.
