Maka Lyko Appearance Race: Nuit (Formerly human) Gender: Female (In current body) Age: 19 (In current body) Birthday: Day 2, Spring, 498 AV. Birthplace: Anahtep Appearance: Maka has creamy blonde hair, pale white skin, and ocean blue eyes in her current body. Due to her being a Nuit, one may notice dark circles under her eyes, her blackened tongue, and her scrawny physique. Also due to her Nuit-hood, one will notice bandages and stitches binding and lacing her body together. Character Concept Seeking to escape her abusive human family, Maka found herself in an even more frightening situation after being mauled by a bear in the woods and letting a mysterious traveller turn her into a Nuit. Now, after finding a place as the traveller's daughter, Maka must face her future head on as a member of the undead. She hopes to achieve a sense of happiness with her new father, and to one day accept her new life as a Nuit, but her fears and lack of self-respect may place both goals out of reach. Character History Maka's undeath was about as fulfilling and meaningful as her human life. Verbally and psychologically abused by her mother, and haunted by her father's absence in her life, Maka found herself on the streets after a knock-down disagreement with her mother. Suffering the humiliation of homelessness, exposure to the elements, and the pain of being hopelessly alone, it quickly became evident to Maka that her life was ultimately pointless-and so she found herself wandering through the woods, hoping to be killed by some form of hostile wildlife. Maka nearly got her wish when a forest bear appeared in a clearing and pinned her to the ground. Clawed paws raised in perfect striking position, the bear readied itself to end the nineteen-year-old's life, however, Maka's death was not slated for that day. A nomadic warrior by the name of Gide had been passing through on his way to Ahnatep, and noticed Maka's predicament as he entered the clearing. Being a compassionate man, Gide killed the bear with a series of well-placed strikes from his sword, but he failed to do so before the bear could land several devastating attacks on Maka, mortally injuring her. Maka was rushed back to Ahnatep, and found herself on a large stone table in an underground compartment. Gide revealed himself to be a Nuit-an undead creature infamous for their body-jumping habits, and in a desperate attempt to save Maka's life, Gide forced Maka to drink of his ichor...ultimately turning her into a Nuit. Gide would then go on to adopt the scared and confused new Nuit, Maka, as his daughter and began making plans to teach her to accept her new undead condition.
