History: Yacob never wanted to be the leader of anything, even in a de facto sense. Like many of the Pridesun ranks after Jonas' "miraculous" change of character, he was an outsider, an outcast, his pavilion swept away years before by pirates, slavers, disease, and disaster. He had no-one else, and so went where many other lost sheep went: to the Pridesuns. And when Jonas was slain by the gods, leaving the pavilion rudderless and without an ankal, Yacob did what he must.

He leads hunting parties, foraging patrols, rations water and food, trains the younger members in survival techniques, even negotiates with other pavilions. For all intents and purposes, he is the ankal of the Pridesuns, but he never seeks that recognition. He simply doesn't care for the title... not yet, anyway. He has bigger things to worry about, like making sure his people live to see another year.

History: Try as he might, Dashiel cannot remember his real name. It's been two years since his Chaktawe family group was ambushed and enslaved by raiders in the deserts south of Cyphrus. A handful of his family managed to escape, fleeing north... but only he survived to be found by Endrykas, and the Pridesun Pavilion. They took in the half-dead boy and named him "Dashiel" ("He Of Quick Feet", in Pavi), courtesy of his speed. It was soon discovered that the young boy was also surprisingly adept at surviving, knowing how to make a fire, skin an animal, and even cook. Sedon had taken him under his wing, perhaps seeing a possible successor to him as cook for the pavilion.

History: The Stormgrass Pavilion isn't particularly old, created by Inyel's grandparents; the title of Ankal was passed down to his father, and then him when his father passed. Inyel has been Ankal of the pavilion for approximately 8 years now; he has two wives, and five children between them.

History: Nara was born in Riverfall during a trading stop, and while she spent the first month or so of her life there, has little memory of the city in connection to her childhood. Growing up, she took after her mother and specialized in the study of herbs and medicine. She discovered she was unable to have children, and while it took some time, she eventually found someone who loved her despite that. She married into the Stormgrass pavilion at around 26, becoming Inyel's father's second wife. Despite not being able to have children of her own, she helped raised Inyel and his sisters, and her skill in medicine proved to be invaluable. Stern but gentle, she has a no-nonsense bedside manner.

She also doubles as the pavilion's storyteller, having a knack for spinning stories; this comes in handy when she has to entertain the children.

History:

Markus Wildblood was birthed to Fiona, and Huron Wilblood. Huron's the father of Markus, and he taught Markus all that he knew, and Markus was the first born of two other siblings, Jonathan, and Dean.

Markus wanted to be like his father in each and every way possible, and his father appreciated the fact that his son wanted to be him also. That's how Markus learned his skills. Though, after Dean's birth, Fiona had passed, and she was no longer with them. Markus wanted to keep her family name alive, so he stepped forward with his father to help out his siblings. The three of them grew really close together, and one day; the four of them went on a hunting expedition. Though, they've encountered a wolf pack, with a few cuts and scars from the encounter, the three of them forgot to count their father as he was left behind. Though, their father stepped up to protect them. Now, Markus was the Ankal of the Wildbloods, and he moved into the Diamond Clan to elude some of the bad memories, hoping that starting a new life with his brothers would be different. They've came across a few more new people, and Markus fell in love with one of them, Samaria.

Though, unlike his brothers, Dean had never met his mom, and he was told of her creative mind, that he had inhibited. He's a more sociable character than his two brothers, and he was the one who had invited the three women to join their family, as they were looking for some more people, and now their clan has somewhat laid a foundation for the six of them.

History:

Samaria Whitevine was born in Avanthal to the Whitevines Hold. She first started out being an ordinary Vantha,but she wanted to travel the world as she was young. She heard stories about the outside of Avanthal, and she wanted nothing more than to venture the outside. Her family had helped her to learn how to hunt. She wasn't too independent, she relied on others to give her support, and when the year 516av came around, Samaria was hiding in Alvadas, where she heard secrets of people who were protecting the Vantha in Winter. As time passed, and a season change later, she was thankful for not being dead. She traveled with a caravan, and found her way into Endrykas. She meant to stay for more than a few days with the caravan, as she had grown adapted to them. Though, she met a Drykas- Markus Wildblood, who was there for her when she needed him. She was there for him as well, and they met when they were chasing the same wild boar.

After a few years, Samaria had adapted to the life of a Dryas, and she had managed to bond to a Strider who had accepted her as she was.

History: Formerly known as the Sunstrike Pavilion, Caradoc chose to rebrand his family in the wake of the Djed Storm, to recognize the deaths of his kin and to pay respect to the sun's lineage in his family tree. This Pavilion can trace itself back to being among the first group of Drykas to emerge from the bowels of the earth following the Valterrian and survive. They have, for the most part, been a thriving part of the Amethyst Clan, their wealth and renown resounding in the horseclan tents. Families send their children to learn from the esteemed navigators of the Mourningstar, and ankals marry their daughters to the family's abundance of healthy sons in order to gain prestige and welcome to their gatherings. This Pavilion is one of the many that wanders away from Endrykas from time to time in the warm season of the year, although they care not to stray more than a fortnight's ride from the moving city, and they pay mind to the Run.

One benefit to their nomadic lifestyle is that the Mourningstar are very keen on adopting lone Drykas, and useful slaves, to bolster their ranks when losses have occurred. This has kept them strong as their bloodline never stagnates and remains fresh with the additions.

He has a shrewd mind, a taciturn disposition, and the presence that one notices. Respect has flourished between himself and those pavilions that are neighbours, business partners, and the homes his wives have come from, and even his enemies, where they exist, are given, and have offered, respect. The man already has his heir lined up, in the case of his passing, his oldest son, whom he has shared his knowledge of Webbing already, in anticipation of death befalling him at any time. Caradoc had three wives, and he has twelve children from them. From those twelve, he has seven grandchildren.

She is a severe looking matron, with a stern set face, brooding grey eyes, and a noted lack of humour, but she's very kind. Soft-spoken. Gentle. Although one instinctively flinches when she raises her hand, it is to great surprise when the following gesture is often a caress, or pat. Whether or not this is intended is up for debate. She has just had her seventh child, and has been extremely weary since.

History: The Ankal's youngest wife is a rather plain, unassuming girl from the Reddawn Pavilion. She's not very gifted, but what she can't offer in skill or beauty, she can provide to her husband with a figure that promises strong children, and a long enough life to produce many. The woman is kind and warm, although still young and quite naive, and seems to enjoy Caradoc's presence and spending time with him in the hopes of learning more of his pavilion's skill. She is currently in the first trimester of bearing her second child.

History: Fourth son to the previous Ankal, and having been born just mere minutes after his twin sister, Bran Mourningstar never really aspired to be anything more than an indispensable unit to the Pavilion's structure. He offers a sort of pithy insight to his brother and their extended family that isn't much seen among their closest neighbours, and his comfort and familiarity with birds is without peer, a clear contrast to the family's focus on their powerful Seme bloodline. Bran has his own contingent of trained crows, and while he's an esteemed navigator and is often busy, he can be consulted for lessons in the skill. He has four children, and is expecting a fifth as well as his first grandchild.

History: While her brother became the esteemed navigator, Bron made her trade the breeding and keeping of the pavilion's proud Semes. She bonded closely with her brother Meical over the trade, and while she was married off to the Blackhorse pavilion, they remained close well up until his death, and to this day she's worn a strip of black cloth for his memory. Her return to the Mourningstar came when the Blackhorse was decimated by the plague that stripped the horseclans of their numbers, and because of the merging of the survivors from both, they came out stronger than before. She remains with her husband and their six children after his second wife (mother of four of those children) perished to the plague, the current head breeder and at the ear of Caradoc and Bran both. She's a grandmother to three beautiful sons.

History: Carys was considered Caradoc's favourite wife, and as a daughter of the Emerald Clan's ambiguous Darkwind Pavilion, she could nonetheless be considered the jewel of the grassland, with her great beauty, her open personality, and the way she could dedicate herself to a hunt with such a singleminded intensity that, and this was said often by children, the animals she hunted would approach her willingly for the honour of feeding her family. Of course, Carys had worked hard for her skill as a huntress. Unfortunately, the beloved second wife of the ankal was taken from the Mourningstar Pavilion during the cruel plague that struck the city in 512 AV, and the grassland has seemed duller without her. She had born Caradoc five children.

She never married out from the Sunstrike pavilion, and remained fixated at her brother's side, riding proud with her role as a woman of the watch and filling the disappointment in her life with stalwart duty. She died to a Zith attack, but not without victory.

He kept a pair of Seme that were both without competition, proud and powerful animals that were his pride and joy and were two of the esteemed forebears of the current line of Mourningstar Seme. He provided four children for his family before his death, the final two being born posthumously as identical twins.

History: Idwal suffered the unfortunate death of being thrown from the back of a stallion and having had his neck broken upon impact, and so he isn't much spoken of among the Mourningstar except in hushed conversation during times of bad luck. He had two children to carry him on after his death, and while acknowledged by the family as a whole, they are sometimes warily regarded, as if they two may befall an unfortunate fate. He was brother to Caradoc, and so that afforded him some measure of pride, and that pride may have led to his downfall.

They are a generally introspective and philosophical group, somewhat set in their ways yet welcoming of those wishing to learn or appreciate their craft and they are well known amongst the horseclans.

The former Ankal, Tybor, recently abdicated his position to his eldest able-bodied son, Lugos, so he might enjoy his twilight years surrounded by family. He acts as his son's advisor and is currently on the lookout for skilled armorers and leatherworkers since the death of his brother, Temur.

History Born a fourth son to the Ankal's third wife, Lugos never anticipated he'd wear his father's title one day. Instead,
he dedicated himself to his craft, having a particular affinity for what few metals and stones could be found strewn across the Sea of Grass. It was this affinity and affection that drew Semele's attention and lead to her bestowing her mark upon him. However, after the Djed Storm and pox that followed claimed or maimed his eldest brothers, he loyally stepped into the role of heir and has now fully taken over his father's position as Ankal. He is a steady sort, easy-mannered and as warm and earthy as the Goddess he follows and has proven to be a fair leader thus far.

Her relationship with Lugos is more of a platonic one than that of Selosi's, and built on respect and admiration, yet the two have had a child - a boy, Odair, who is 18 months. History As Tybor's eldest living grandchild, Karmanor has always felt a great deal of weight on his shoulders.
He is a stoic and serious individual, having been so since his youth, and has worked hard to hone his personal craft to benefit his pavillion. The game he brings back from his hunts are processed and used by various members of the pavillion with no part of the kill going to waste. He began showing greater interest in spear-making after the death of his mother over a year ago, feeling the need to embody what it truly means to be a Proudspear, and has taken on the role of caretaker and provider for his two younger sisters, Antheia and Pirra.
When he isn't out hunting or scavenging then he is seen shadowing Lugos,
learning what he can from his uncle and Ankal.

History Although the second born son to an Ankal, Tybor knew early on that he would be the one to take his father's place. History Izila and Tybor had known each other since their youth and married as friends and partners, Izila bringing a more mystical element to the Pavillion due to her background and upbringing within the Sapphire Clan. They have two children - Lugos and a daughter that was married off - yet it's widely understood that the pair consider the entire Pavillion to be their brood. Izila is a den mother, counsellor and guide, ever-ready to assist and support her fellow Proudspear kin and kith. She is a deeply spiritual woman yet playful and impish, given to airs of mystery and the odd flight of fancy. History Despite being the first born son of an Ankal, Temur always knew his path would take him in a different direction.
He turned his focus on to his craft early in life, gifting his position as heir to his younger brother so he might fully dedicate himself to his work. Deeply devoted to his craft, he curried favour with Izurdin as a teen - having learned of the God from his grandfather - and remained a faithful follower until his death. He never married, preferring to commit himself to his Pavillion and craft - of which he was marked twice by the God of Industry, both hard wrought - but he did take on his nephew after his sister's death, rearing him as his own son and imparting on him everything he knew. He was a valued and revered member of the Pavillion and his death has left a tangible void that most feel can never be filled.

History Tanren had always been a restless spirit, forever longing for something else. Her marriage to Sa'aras Heidecraft did little to lessen the itch - if anything, it exacerbated it. As much as she cared for her husband as a friend and partner, she did not feel for him as he did her. Instead, her eyes wandered to an old friend following the Great Race of 482, her tryst resulting in her falling pregnant with Wymez. It was a secret no one questioned - especially following the death of Sa'aras - and one she took to her grave three years later.

History Although neither the most popular nor the most populated, the Silentstriders manage well enough. Their chosen trade revolves solely around the Zibri and they have worked to create a robust yet intelligent version to the breed to act along the Drykas Seme as beasts of burden.
