APPEARANCE


Anukis a hot mix of all the cultures she has met through her life, absorbing fashions and trends as the fancy takes her. Her long dark hair has been bleached honey blonde by Syna and woven into dreadlocks styled after sailing with Svefra. Her preference for light fabrics, simple jewellery and bare feet she copies from the Sea-folk too. Inspired by the savage Myrians, she has had blackwork tattoos etched into her limbs and décolletage, while bone spikes pierce both sides of her nose. Strong brows and broad nose settle amid a square face with wide cheek-bones. With heterochromia of the eyes her left eye is a true-blue while her right is dark brown. Wind-swept and Syna-kissed, a lifetime of journeying has forged Anuk's 5'8" body into 168lbs of lean muscle. Unorthodox for a lioness is her love of water and swimming, which is obvious in the layer of ocean salt that's often dried on her skin and hinted in her scent. She carries herself with a fiery warmth about her, which feels nurturing or aggressively aloof, depending on her mood. When her humour is tickled a toothy grin and gravelly laughter tempers her look.

As a lioness she is deep-chested, with a short, broad face, round perked ears and strong claws and jaws. Her length matches her human height, though her tail adds almost 3ft and ends in a dark russet, course tuft. At her shoulder she stands 3ft. Her body is 130kg of imposing muscle meant for charging large prey and fending off scavengers and threats. Her blue and brown eyes are carried into her lioness form. As are her tattoos, which appear as ripples and cowlicks in her fur, giving her a bit of a scruffy look for a lioness.

CONCEPT

Anuk is a young adult in lion years, still full of energy and only just has she got her roar down. Aloof and independent, yet sociable, she thrives when living alongside a close-knit community. Matriarchal, Anuk is not fond of men and will always prefer the company of women, taking a little after the Myrians. She has little tolerance for the sensitive or weak. Any in her 'pride' she deems need a little roughing up, she will step into a nurturing mothering role to bully them into being strong. Fiercely loyal and brave, she protects those she accepts as her kin ferociously. It can be a blessing or a curse to receive Anuk's affections. Perceptive, Anuk notices the tiny details, making it hard to lie to her without her sensing something amiss. In contrast she misses the big picture, living for the moment by her instincts and whims, she hasn't the foresight for overarching ideas or plans. Caring in her own way, Anuk is warm of heart, if intense. Unlike her lion kin, Anuk loves to swim! And curiosity definitely may kill the cat. When she isn't in the ocean or a pool, Anuk is exploring everything around her.

FAITH

Anuk does not pay heed to gods and goddesses, living for the moment with a fierce survival instinct and a loose grasp of the 'circle of life' & her role within it. She does not ponder over death, except in avoiding it or dishing it out.

 

LAVIKU

Anuk learnt about Laviku from Svefra she travelled with and ever since has admired LAviku's power over the seas. A kelvic, Anuk doesn't have the inclination to worship. Although one day she hopes to gain The Sea King's favour, maybe his mark—so she better get prayin'!

HERSTORY

9 SUMMER 516AV	Anuk is born on a clear, starry night in the Ekytol desert to traveling wine merchants making their way to Falyndar seeking exotic plants and fruits to create new ranges of wines to sell at home and abroad for profitable coin.
FALL to WINTER 516AV	In a year Anuk has surprised her family by her kelvic shifting, unknowingly passed downin her mother's side. She has traveled with her parents by ship from Yahebah to the coast of the Falyndar jungle wilds. So far she has spent nearly her whole life aboard a ship, learning to swim as soon as she has walked. Anuk makes fast friends with the Svefra in her family's traveling party, adopting their fashion sense, their free-spirited outlook, even their love of Laviku.
WINTER 516 to SUMMER 517AV	Anuk's family stumble across Myrians on one of their excursions up the jungle rivers. During a tense standoff, Anuk shape-shifts into a lioness and practices her mightiest roar, which isn't too mighty yet. It makes the Myrians smile, though, relieving the tensions. They break bread with the tribal hunting party & trade spices, materials & weapons in return for passage in the jungle. The Myrians make an impression on Anuk, whose fierce instincts aligns well with the matriarchal warriors.
SUMMER 517AV	Anuk draws the affections of a Myrian warrior who has lost her tiger companion to an old wound. The Myrian coaches Anuk a little in the spear and jungle survival. Before the tribes part ways, her newfound Myrian friend sneaks a tattoo artist to Anuk in the hopes that giving the kelvic her own set of marks will encourage a bond to form. It's not meant to be.
FALL 517AV	Anuk feels restless as the urge to bond alights in her, stronger and stronger. While her mother & father plan to make the journey home to Ekytol with their new wares, Anuk feels the tides of the bond pulling her to further shores. She shares her heart with her mother & bids her family farewell in the morning to start her journey to seek her bondmate.

LIONESS SENSE	Though she can see colour, Anuk sees mainly in blue and greens, with highly developed night vision, hearing and sense of smell.
A SHARP TONGUE	Anuk's sense of taste is poor but her tongue is covered in papillae -- small, backward-curving spines -- that help scrape meat from bones.
PROWESS	Anuk carries lion strength in her human form, but her speed is limited to her lion form. As a lioness she sprints up to 80km/h for short bursts.
