Over the course of three days, Ialari was at first, unable to get up off the floor where she ended up sprawled across the pillows. Arith and Reth in the meantime, remained close to her, rotating between wrapping themselves gently around her and making the rounds throughout the small room. It took the better part of the first of the three days for Ialari to be able to crawl her way up onto the bed. During the periodic, yet brief, moments of being awake, she drank the water and ate bits of bread that she’d brought to the room. She knew she wouldn’t have the strength to get to the kitchen for at least a couple of days. By the second day, the pain in her muscles began to fade which allowed her to at least drag some of the pillows from the floor to the bed to make sleeping more comfortable. By end of the third day, she finally began to feel a bit more like herself again. The heavy bouts of fatigue had vanished and the pain in her body had dulled to more of a tolerable ache.
The first thing she did when she was finally able to walk without falling was head to the bath chamber where she soaked in the warm water and let the remaining discomfort wash away. After her bath, Ialari made for the kitchen where she ate a large, hearty meal as her hunger had taken the place of her body pain in urgency and strength. When she was finally washed, well fed and feeling more comfortable, she returned to her chamber. Once there she retrieved the bracer from the stand next to the bed and examined it with a more well-rested perception. Before she even entered the room she could feel the bracer’s presence which told her that the imparting had been a success. Looking over the details of the bracer, Ialari noticed how the spiraled seashells had become as hard as steel and were solidly attached to the bracer’s main body. The copper net pattern had taken on a brilliant shine that perfectly contrasted the jet black color of the iron it was melded into. Although not apparent at first glance, a closer look revealed the faint hint of a secondary pattern of scales faded into the iron. While that hadn’t been intentional, Ialari surmised that the presence of Arith and Reth must have had a minute effect on the imparting process. Perhaps somehow, the memory of her father’s hammer and its snake motif allowed the presence of the snakes to impart a hint of themselves onto it as well. As they were living, breathing extensions of Ialari’s own blood, it wasn’t too far-fetched of an idea.
The leather straps and brass buckles too were made ever more sturdy by the imparting and made for the perfect additions to what felt like a complete work. Along with being able to feel the bracer’s presence just as she could feel that of Arith and Reth, Ialari senses that her intent has successfully been ingrained into the bracer. Kavala had wanted to learn blacksmithing techniques from Ialari but the isur realized that, as a konti, Kavala would lack the strength to adequately work metal the way she would need to. Also, Kavala was not an isur and thus wouldn’t be able to manipulate metal the way Ialari could. The bracer however, possessed a bit of Ialari within. Wearing it would allow Kavala, with the right tools in hand, to shape metal with the force of an isurian arm. While it would only work within the confines of smithing, the added force to a hammer strike would allow for much easier metal working.
Ialari now hoped that Kavala would accept the gift which wasn’t guaranteed. Her hostess had already turned down coin in exchange for service. It was a possibility yet it was one that Ialari didn’t worry much about as the act of imparting, as painful as it had been, made her feel happy. Ialari, satisfied with the final product, put the bracer back on the stand and began working over the details in her mind of her next project; reestablishing a link to her Dominion. As she considered all that was involved, she gently caressed Reth’s head; the large snake had weaved its way up her leg and around her torso. Arith had already found a way onto the stand where Ialari picked him up, she decided it was a him, and and let him wrap himself around her arm. “Now, where to put that door…”
