Meriann: 1st gnosis Laviku from birth.
As natural as living. Could never be without it.
Eventual Akaija (sp) gnosis?? Learning to search out the secrets of SB and of others (part of her original Concept) and after developing and learning to control the emotions she wears on her sleeve...

Needlessly driven to excess: Offered drugs and becomes addicted, thinking a 'pure' high is just round the corner. Thinking she can exert her will over the effects of the drug but she cannot. Family try to make her better but eventually are forced to leave her behind as they search for the Kelpfires.

Spring 518
Family she met in 'Tales In The Night'. Hiver the father, Julian the talkative one and Goddri the quiet one. Develop relationship. Goddri is a desperate addict, Hiver a miserable father unable to 'fix' his family and Julian a twisted thief stealing to fund his brothers addiction. Meriann is foolhardy and rushes in to try the drug, wondering what the effects are. Gets hooked. In denial... then thinking she can best it. Then eventually falling into despair... then redemption, depending on plots/relationships/whathaveyou? (Spring and beyond).

Redemption through magic. Swap drugs for magic.

Additional Info: Hamish is a hard, hard man who was sculpted by the woe and tragedy of losing his son to murder. His life could be drawn as all the facets of a wave. He started off poor and hungry as his mother struggled to bring him up by herself. The early years were bad but began to improve once his mother moved in with a group of other single mothers who all pooled their resources and their time to help each other out. Thus his childhood was a time of meagre but pleasant happiness.
He grew up and started a family with his childhood sweetheart. They were tough but kind enough, although they kept to themselves for the most part. Their deepest desire was to escape the Sunberth trap, and they worked hard to collect savings to achieve this goal.
Then their son, aged 14, was killed, and from then on the man has descended into a downwards spiral of rage and aimless retribution as he seeks to find the identities of the three teenagers who killed his son and bring them to his idea of justice.

Additional Info: Emile is the reluctant light to Hamish's dark, in that she is equally as angry and hurt over her son's death, but she sees a need to seek the deeper truths. She is pragmatic and level-headed, stemming from the greater responsibilities she held in her youth. Hamish and Emile grew up together in the shared home that their mothers lived in, but the girl was given responsibility over her younger sister who was unwell for many years before her unfortunate death. After her sister's death, she slipped easily from carer to young mother after her and Hamish's relationship grew. They shared a twin goal and Emile lived it more than most. She worked furiously and as hard as she could just so that she could see her small family leave and go to some place better.
It was not to be, and this shattered her in complex ways, but she knew that her life would end in Sunberth and she has resigned herself to this fate. However, whilst she's here she wishes to understand why her son's body was brought to her so mutilated and who the killers were so that she can join her husband in a true, bloody rampage. Then she can die with comfort, knowing that she has found her son's true murderers.
