Anna Cook Appearance Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 21 Birthday: 21, Winter, 496. Birthplace: She was born in Zeltiva but is herself unaware of this, though she has a suspsion. Appearance: She has long, flaming-red hair which she usually keeps in a tight bun. She has dark blue eyes and pale skin. She has a sweet disposition and a charming smile but is modest in her form of dress and in her manners. Those who come across her might say she has a touch of anxiety or nervousness about her—or perhaps an acute sense of cautiousness the way she seems to guard herself as she walks in the public sphere. Her gaze might flit from place to place through a kind of watchfulness. She seems rather thin and delicate but has a quiet strength of will she keeps beneath the surface which one might glimpse if staring into the depth of her penetrating, deep blue gaze. Character Concept Anna—or Hannah as she is sometimes called by those who know her best—is rather uncertain of her parentage, having been taken by slavers at a young age. She is a quiet follower of Ivak and personally sees life as a series of misfortunes and triumphs; that destruction and death is a part of life—not that she wishes to accelerate death, she simply sees death and destruction as an opportunity for new growth. She herself is an ardent pacifist and learned a decent trade in sweing and just recently decided that she would like to become a healer, though she has no idea where to begin. She also has an interest in basket weaving but never had the time to properly lean the trade. Apart from this, she is also a passable seamstress and is able to mend many types of clothes and fabrics. Cobbling is a trade with which she has minimal skill, but she knows enough to be able to patch a shoe with fix that’ll hold until the wearer is able to get it mended properly. She is a moderately good spinner and learned this skill in an attempt to lessen the amount of money she must charge people of few means. Often, for the poor, she will render her services for free. She has aspirations of helping people and making life easier for those who are in harm’s way. One of the most important things she can do for a person, she believes, is being present for people when they die under her personal philosophy that no one should die alone. She managed to learn a little bit of Pavi from one of her brothel sisters; that skill--limited though it was, led to her having quite a few John who spoke the tongue being attracted to her for that reason. As a consequence, her understanding of the language increased to moderate levels. She made a tidy sum for herself in this manner. While a follower of Ivak’s in her own, quiet way, she also sends up many silent prayers to, what she calls, the nameless god who lives in her heart, hoping that those prayers will somehow reach the right gods if her faith and petitions are strong. Character History Anna was kidnapped by slavers at the age of 6 and pressed into service from that time onward. She was a waif and struggled to earn her board and keep even while needing nurturing as a child. When she was 16 she was sold to a brothel and worked as a prostitute until the age of 21 when a severe beating delivered by one of the more boorish of the patrons led to her ardent desire for escape. It was this desire that first turned her on to Ivak, and it was to him she sent her prayers—that she would have the strength of will to achieve her goal and free herself of her current life. She, with the help and charity of her brothel sisters managed to pool enough money together to buy her freedom. The only thing she carried with her from the time she was a child was her name, “Hannah” or “Anna” in some pronunciations. She keeps this seemingly simple name close to her bosom at all times, desiring never to change it as it is the only thing in the world, she believes, that is truly hers forever.
