This is a little late in coming out today, but I was literally at work the vast majority of today. I just wanted to do a little public thank you for how much folks are enjoying the Verusk Plot and getting into it. I've seen several Verusk inclusive threads and I'm enjoying reading them outside of the main city Event.

As promised, here's your Verusk Saturday Fun Fact.

Because Verusks are hybrids of humans and Velispar, they retrain some traits of their parent races. While there is no entry in the Wiki about Velispar, let me tell you about them. They literally live thousands of years. Much like other creatures that don't have a high survival rate as hatchlings, Velispar are born in clutches like snakes with dozens of sibling offspring hatching out together from eggs. They are mindless killers when they are small, voracious of appetite, and need to feed constantly. They are not born with any sort of sentience. However, they take on the knowledge of whatever the creatures knew that they eat as long as they consume their brains. A lucky clutch would have a set of Velispar parents carefully selecting meals to guide their offspring in their early childhood awareness.

As they grow, they grow more sentient and know what they know based on what they have eaten. By the time they are hundreds of years old, they are often skilled in a whole host of things including magic and are wise, having settled down with their appetites waning along with their growth rates.

Pr-Vaterrian, a clutch of Velispar being born was often coveted because cities liked to keep one or two of them to dispose of criminals and those wishing to die due to disease or grief or even extreme age. They made very effective means of corpse disposal and often when mature would act as council to the city. These hatchlings and adolescents were dangerous until mature, so they were often kept in justice centers and confined for the safety of the people.

Verusk have a similar ability when it comes to taking on knowledge. Instead of consuming the flesh and brains of people, they just need to reach out and touch someone to share their memories and assume them as their own. This makes them incredibly compassionate and understanding of others, no matter what the race. It is also somewhat miraculous they don't need to kill their memory donors to take on their memories.

I have a couple of questions:
1. If someone grabs a Verusk, can the Verusk use that touch to read a memory, or does the Verusk have to initiate the touch?
2. Related, if two Verusk touch each other, can they simultaneously exchange memories, or is it limited to one way at a time?

The Verusk have to consciously do the memory sharing.

Two Verusk can't share memories between them. They can only take memories from sentient creatures that are not Verusk or Velipsar.

When the Verusk do the memory reading thing, does the person being read feel anything unusual?

Nope. But the person the Verusk is pulling from has to be remembering the memory. They can't just rummage through the brain

Hello Syka I want to introduce myself. My name is Entropy, and I am the new AS of both Riverfall and Syka. I want to let you know that I am excited to contribute to the already rich story line and player base in Syka. In my eyes, Syka is a great place for the PCs to really have a hand in shaping themselves and the city around them into something better. I was just kidding about Entropy dropping you all your Weds small time Verusk Fun Fact.

Here it is.... their blood has antibiotic qualities to it. If you smear it into wounds, their blood - which has a luminous quality - will tend to keep that wound from getting infected. It does not HEAL wounds though. It just staves off infection, much like honey can.

So your writing assignment is to discover this in thread with your Verusk!
