Syka’s Spring theme is Transmorgrify! Sophia has been turned into a Dhani.

Image Sophia is a golden eyelash viper. She is fairly small, but extremely fast.

As a Dhani she is about 10 feet long. She has golden yellow eyes and scales that cover her brow and cheekbones. Her body is also delicately scaled until it melds into a thick snake tail.

As a snake, she looks like the picture here. She is around 7.5 feet long (228cm). Her brow is pronounced and appears like 'eyelashes' above her eyes. In both snake and Dhani form she has very long fangs that hold a potent poison.

As a human, Sophia looks exactly how she always has done, exept for the fact that she is a little shorter, at 5'4".

Sophi’s Birthday - 83, Spring

Illness - Calendar event.
❖ A mysterious illness - a bad cough and rash - courses through the settlement. It is almost an epidemic because it effects 1 out of 3 people. Roll a 1d3 to see if you got hit with it (on a roll of 1). It is not fatal but lasts for a miserable ten days. Track down the source and see if you can solve the mystery.

❖ Design something unique to Syka in game or in the lore. This can be anything from a new sort of rope swing to a pet that is unique to the setting.

❖ Discovery of Pavena. Hopefully have Sophia involved in some quests relating to this. Build up her skills in order to be able to make discoveries. Hope that there is some sort of herbalist stash/plant collection waiting to be found and catalogued.

Sophia spent her youth on the seas with her Pod. The cities listed were not ones she actually resided in, but the closest ones to her Pod, and they frequently went to land during those times.

Past Seasons


Summer 519 :

Last season Sophia really started to get to grips with life in Syka and got to start on some long-term goals. This season I want to really build on the foundations I got down in Spring. I need to do a lot of work on getting her business off the ground, and I want to continue to explore her connection with Phylonura.
I also want to toughen her up a little more. There are some calendar events that will help with this, and I plan to work on her weapon skills too.

Syka’s Spring theme is Jungle Fever! Sophia’s obsession is: Collecting/acquiring/hording something (item tbd).

The obsession should be woven through all Sophia’s threads this season. Sophia should encourage others in their own obsessions too.

Challenges

❖ Be involved in some sort of beach roleplay - a bonfire at night or a pit roast or even some fishing expeditions.

❖ Become involved in a community event or activity such as building something the community needs or repairing or upgrading something the community already has.

❖ Discover one of Syka's Secrets (see Goss for ideas).

❖ Help a neighbour with a project.

❖ Master a skill and have a conversation with a god associated with that skill (D.A.T.S).

❖ Tell someone a story that somehow involves the obsession.

❖ Write at least 15,000 words.


Spring 519 :
Sophia was inactive during the last 2 seasons, so Spring will be used to catch up. She will be building up her skills in order to live and survive on the island, and also gaining skills to assist in the creation of her business.
I also want to explore Sophia’s Gnosis more this season. She is a Witch, and is currently outside of her assigned biome. She feels disconnected and lost and I really want to see what she can do to try and feel more connected to the island.

  • Make at least one proper friend!

Syka Seasonal Challenge


Syka’s Spring theme is centred around music. Sophia’s threads and plot will be based around the lyrics of one song.

The song is about slowing down and realising that everything you need is around you already. I think this is a good theme for Sophi this season, as she really needs to stop charging ahead, and really try to figure out who she is, and how she fits into the world. She also needs to really connect more with her Gnosis, the island and the other people who live there.

Gnosis


Sophia has 1 mark of Phylonura, the Gnosis of Caihya.

Her Gnosis mark starts at her left wrist and covers her entire forearm, up to her elbow. Sophia is a Grassland Witch and so her mark represents that biome. The base, near her wrist, depicts the golden green grasses that cover the Sea of Grass, swaying in a gentle breeze. A trio of Cyphrus horses runs through these grasses, and above them a beautiful blue sky stretches over, a single eagle gliding overhead.

Notes from the Wiki:

On use :
“…witches will feel the need to eliminate invasive species, thin or thicken herds, nourish floundering herds, and encourage animals to move in or out of an area depending upon what's needed for the domain's health. These witches, while not always accepted everywhere, are indeed important.”

“These ‘witches’ instinctively know, because of their marks, what it takes to groom and transform the landscape into its most productive and healthy aspects. They know which plants belong, which do not, and which animals can immediately help or pose a threat to a delicate ecosystem just on the verge of recovering.”

On personality/social :
“Unlike normal people, Caiyha's followers often have a hard time socializing with normal people and tend to have rather feral traits that are not unlike Kelvics. Called Wilder or Wildlings, these witches will almost always take the side of Nature over People if forced to do so.
They can be fearsome creatures, powerful wizards, and sometimes formidable fighters. They have the ability to utilize their landscapes in ways other non-Caiyha followers rarely can do. This group, unlike other non-marked folks, have a unique ability to live wild and survive within the wilds whereas other people would perish.”


On location/domains :
“A witch moving into a new domain will often rapidly receive an additional mark which allows her to interact with her new habitat domain if a witch is needed in an area. Otherwise, he or she will have already received an additional mark that will allow her to interact within her new domains before they moved …
Witches in biome domains that are not matching their marks can still be somewhat effective, in that they can speak to the plants and animals in that domain, but they will not have the inherent sense to know what's needed and what’s out of sync until they receive the matching biome mark.”


Sophia is a Grassland Witch in Syka – a rainforest biome. She will be feeling a little lost and out of touch. She will be able to speak to the plants and animals and get senses of what they are and what they can do, but she will not be able to tell if they are meant to be there. She will not know exactly how the rainforest works and whether or not it needs healing. She may have senses of wrongness or rightness, but she will struggle to link them with particular things. Sophia would struggle to live completely wild in the rainforest, although she will still fare better than non-marked kin.

Business to open Fall 519 A.V.

The Syka Herbarium is the home and business of Sophia Sunshore, resident Witch of Syka, and located approimately halfway between the Syka City Core and Uta's Place. Connected to the open-sided home of the herbalist is a platform housing all manner of potted plants and herbs, and a bench with a few wares on display. The platform links to a small philtering lab where all the shop inventory is made. Both the home and shop are decorated with strings of seashells and herbs hanging up to dry.

The inventory of the shop is always expanding as new plants are discovered, and Sophia is more than happy to create custom blends for anyone who asks.

  • Teas (mixed herbs): 2sm per 10 bags, 5sm per 1lb loose.
  • Oils: 1oz - 5cm, 6oz - 5sm, 8oz - 7sm. The price of oils will increase with rarity.
  • Soaps: 1-5sm depending on size.
  • Lotions: 8oz - 6sm
  • Balms: 1sm per oz
  • Insect repellent: 1gm per bottle


Candles, insence, perfumes and basic herbal remedies will be available in the future. Sophia is happy to accept custom orders. She will also listen to requests for herbs and items not listed, however they may take time for her to research and/or experiment with to create a suitable mix.

Housing


SYKA LOCATION: Sunny Shores

Location: 5 acres claimed between the City Core and Uta’s Place. Approximately half her land is on the beach with the other half stretching back into Syka, through the jungle fringes and then into the deeper rainforest.

Current: A large tent set up on the beach.

Planned: She has an agreement in place with Randal to build a simple home. There will be a large platform, slightly raised off the beach that will make up the main area of her living quarters. The right side will be one step down and there will be a firepit where Sophia will do her cooking next to a seating area. On the other side is where she will work, and there will also be a small, raised area surrounded by gauzy mosquito nets where she will sleep. The platform will have no walls, and will instead be supported by beams that hold the roof, and a short lip will run around the structure to save people or things falling off. In particularly blustery times she will be able to roll down and tie canvas sides to keep her possessions safe and dry inside.

Future plans: Sophia would like to create an area to grow herbs and other useful plants. Possibly an open space (maybe not so great on the beach), or another platform where she can grow in containers and keep the plants sheltered.
