History Lua was born on a particularly warm summer evening in 494 AV, to Theodore and Hedvika Petri. Her parents had already had three children: Kaya, Karin and Karl. Why they decided to name them all starting with "K" but stopped at Lua, no one is really sure. Hedvika would tell Lua she wasn't too much of a hassle as an infant; the most troublesome was Karl. Her own troublesome nature came when she grew into a child.
When she was seven, she met Raeyn, an Inarta whose mother was friends with her mother. She was intimidating to him, because of her boldness and her lack of forethought when it came to speaking, and she saw him as a wimp who got scared easily. Teasing ensued, but overtime the two did grow a fondness for each other. Lua became incredibly protective of Raeyn, despite being smaller and younger than him.
Karin was the first Petri child to move out, in 504 AV. She was sixteen, and Lua was ten. A year later, Kaya moved out. It was an interesting experience for Lua, not having them at the family home. Karl, Lua and Femi were left. Karl was too focused on his lifelong goal of getting a boat to bother with moving out, Lua was still pretty young to think about moving out, and Femi was even younger.
In 512 AV, however, Lua finally had worked enough and earned enough to get her own place in the Okomo Estates. She wasn't too far from her parents, and neither was Karin. Kaya had moved to another peak altogether, so they rarely saw him once he moved out because of timing.
During the Fall of 514, Karin had sent the family letters explaining how she met a man named Eugene Redhands, and they had moved in together in the Solar Wind Apartments.
When Lua was twenty-one, Karl had finally bought himself a boat and planned to sail the seas. He had trained for it, so he was prepared, but the family was upset. Lua and Karl had been wrestling buddies, and she was sad to see him go. She hid it as anger, though, and didn't let herself cry in front of him.
Just a year ago now, Karin had announced her and Eugene's wedding. It was a lavish party and Femi and Hedvika both cried. Lua shed a few tears, but she hid them and quickly covered them up. Around this time Femi also had a partner, though it was agreed they did not plan to marry. Lua didn't hear as much about her partner as she did about Eugene, and never bothered to press her about it.
Theodore - Father
Name: Theodore Petri Race: Human Date of Birth: 43 Fall, 461 AV (56) Place of Birth: Lhavit Occupation: Potter Skills: Pottery - 35, Teaching - 15 If there's anything you should know it's that Theodore is considerate and warm. Of course he's also planful, kind and surprising, but far less strongly and often mixed with being sadistic as well. His considerate nature is what he's cherished for. People regularly count on this and his appreciative nature especially when they need comforting or support. Nobody's perfect of course and he has a fair share of lesser days too. His obnoxious nature and insensitivity sour the mood many a time, but his warmness is there to relift spirits when needed. Theodore was an only child of a higher middle class family. He was given plenty of entertainment as a child, however this was mostly because his parents were too busy working to give him a lot of attention. They were so busy, in fact, most of his early childhood was spent being raised by a nanny. His parents weren't negletful on purpose; they had important jobs that required a lot of focus. His father is the one who suggested he go into the pottery business. He had friends in the business who gave Theodore a job when he was seventeen, and has stayed in the business ever since, though switching businesses occasionally. It was through work that he met Hedvika, when he was 22; she had come in to buy a decorated bowl, and it was love at first sight for him. However, she didn't feel the same spark at first. She was the type of person to grow attatched to those she already knew. So he befriended her, and after two seasons they started dating. Another couple seasons later, they got married. Theodore was 24 when Kaya was born. He worried about him and Hedvika; he didn't want them to become like his parents. Because they were distant for most of his childhood due to work, he never had a close relationship with either of them. Luckily Hedvika's work at the opera house wasn't so demanding, and he was allowed time off to spend time with his child. They had more children as time went on, eventually deciding five was enough. Hedvika - Mother
Name: Hedvika Jilan Petri Race: Human Date of Birth: 23 Spring 459 (59) Place of Birth: Syliras Occupation: Opera Singer Skills: Singing - 42, Persuasion - 8 It takes a while to get to know Hedvika, but the biggest two things to know are that she's outspoken and curious. Of course she's also dynamic, active, and tolerant but they're tainted by and mixed with habits of being frightening as well. There are many times when friends count on this and her considerate nature especially when they need comforting or support. Her cynical nature aren't exactly fun to deal with, though more on a personal level than for others. Hedvika was born in Syliras, the capitol of Sylira. Her mother died in childbirth due to complications, so she was mostly raised by her father. He remarried when she was still young. If it weren't for her step-mother, they would've easily fallen into poverty; her father was not prepared to raise a child on his own, and he found it difficult to juggle both childcare and work as a guard. Looking back, Hedvika believed he married mostly for the help with childcare. Her father and step-mother were friends, sure, but she didn't believe they truly loved each other. In fact, they were probably in an open relationship. But this was negotiated and didn't ruin the family When she was an adult, Hedvika traveled. She lived in Kenash for a couple years, Riverfall for a season or two, and didn't settle again until she found herself in Lhavit when she was 23. She worked as a waitress for a couple years, during which she met Theodore. They married, and shortly before having their first child she was offered a job at the opera house. Kaya
Name: Kaya Petri Race: Human Date of Birth: 63 Spring 485 (33) Place of Birth: Lhavit Occupation: Cook Skills: Cooking - 27, Brewing - 23 Being the eldest Petri child, Kaya grew up ocassionally helping his mother caring for his younger siblings, once he was old enough. This made him protective over his siblings, even to the point of being overbearing. When Lua and Karl got into their play-fights, Kaya was the one to break them up in fear of them getting hurt. He is more emotionally open than other men his age, not afraid to cry or show vulnerability. He began work at The Shooting Star Inn when he was 22, having only worked small seasonal jobs before then. This is where he learned most of his cooking and brewing skills. He has been engaged a number of times, but can't see himself settling with one person for his entire life and so he's declared himself a permanent bachelor, much to his parents' frustration. Of course, he does have his fun with ladies once in a while. Karin
Name: Karin Petri-Redhands Race: Human Date of Birth: 86 Summer 488 (30) Place of Birth: Lhavit Occupation: Painter Skills: Painting - 35, Drawing - 15 Few know the true Karin aside from family, but she's intelligent and sympathetic. She's also creative, honest and outspoken, but far less strongly and often mixed with being thoughtless as well. Her deceitful ways and inconsideration risk ruining pleasant moods and could ruin plenty of evenings. Karin was one of the quiet children growing up, turning her nose at her siblings' rough housing and preferring to spend her time drawing or window shopping. She had plenty of friends and as she grew into a young adult she would go out with them more and more often. She got a paying job at the artist studio when she was 27, though she had been training to work there for a couple years prior. She visits her parents' home more often than Kaya does, but mostly because she too lives in the Okomo Estates and has more free time to. She is currently married to an Inarta named Eugene Redhands (right). Karl
Name: Karl Petri Race: Human Date of Birth: 22 Summer 489 (29) Place of Birth: Lhavit Occupation: ??? Skills: Sailing - 30, Swimming - 20 Karl is the "troublemaker" of the family. The black sheep, if you will. He was always energetic and competative, often getting into play-fights with Lua. He used to always win, but as time went by she grew tougher too. But what stuck out about him was his fascination with the sea. Whenever Karl was missing, he could usually be found at the docks watching the boats. He was even caught playing around on someone's boat, and his parents had to apologize profusely for his behavior. He always told his parents he was going to grow up to be a sailor, but they didn't encourage it. The sea was dangerous, and if he left for it they didn't know how often they'd be able to contact him. He got a few small jobs as a teenager and young adult, but when he was 26 he had earned enough to pay for sailing classes and eventually his own sailboat. His parents were annoyed and disappointed, and his siblings were upset. They didn't want him to do. Lua was particularly upset, because she was just getting to the point where she could overpower him in a fight. But his heart was set on sailing, so that's what he was going to do. He promised to visit often, and set off. None of the Petris have heard from him since. Femi
Name: Femi Petri Race: Human Date of Birth: 74 Winter 500 (18) Place of Birth: Lhavit Occupation: Potter Skills: Pottery - 27, Etching - 13, Singing - 10 Femi is the youngest Petri child, and from birth she seemed to be Daddy's Little Girl. She wasn't spoiled, per se, but her siblings liked to tease her because their father liked her best. Karl was the harshest with her though, causing the two to have a tense relationship. She was closest to her sister Karin, but she and Lua were also good friends where Lua would pick fights with Karl for making Femi cry. From a young age her father promised her an apprenticeship at the potter, if she wanted it when she was of age. She was set on that, and would research pottery and similar skills in her free time. She also learned how to sing from her mother, though it wasn't as much of a priority as pottery was. She got the job as her father's apprentice on her eighteenth birthday, and has been working there since. |
