Adder's head shot up. If his eyes seemed creepy before, they were outright sinister and just plain terrifying now. "Indeed," he simply spat, Blythe was convinced she saw a few drops of saliva escape his mouth, and she scrunched up her face in disgust, despite everything that was going on.
Adder's eyes were fixated on her, icy cold slits of pure hatred. He reached behind him and turned the key that was resting in the lock. Blythe stared at the tiny golden key, horrified, when he placed it in his pocket. The door was unlocked before? she silently moaned in her head, and now I got to get past him, get the key, open the door, remove the beam, AND run? she thought, starting to sweat, realizing she had no idea as to how she would go about accomplishing any of those goals.
Blythe was starting to panic.... anytime now Avalis... just shoot me some crazy idea! Anything at all! It would be really really handy right about... NOW!!! Or even like 5 minutes ago would have been nice, she thought, as Adder hissed, "I'm nothing like you... you're naive and think your perfect little life is untouchable. Truly coming to Sssunberth was a very sssstupid thing to do."
Blythe never took her eyes off of Adder, she realized that perhaps Adder was right; it was foolish for the youngest sister in her family, herself, to be sent off on such a dangerous mission, and by herself no less, but there was nothing she could do about that now, was there? She just had to make sure she remembered to breath, to think clearly, and pray, so that hopefully, she could get out of this place in one piece.
Blythe took a few deep cleansing breaths, hoping it would help calm her racing heart. In through the nose, slowly out the mouth, but it didn't seem to do much if anything.
Suddenly, Adder sprang across the room, lunging at her. He slammed into her, and pinned Blythe against the cold, hard, positively solid wall behind her. Her head shot back with the force of Adder's body propelling into her, and she clenched her eyes shut, grit her teeth, and muttered a low, "ooowww," wishing she could rub her head to ease the pain, but he had successfull grabbed each of her wrists in his scaly little hands, and pinned them up over her head.
"Pissssing me off was even more sssstupid," Adder hissed. "I swear on the lost virginity of my mother, I wasn't going to hurt you," Adder said as he moved his hands, from her wrists, forcefully grabbing Blythe's head, his thumb on one cheek and his fingers on the other. His hands felt rough, and cold; it sent a shiver up Blythe's spine, she didn't like it there, and she certainly didn't want it to be there either.
Their faces were only inches away from each other, as the two of them locked eyes, Adder staring at her with his golden serpentine ones, a predatory gaze, and an evil glint lurking in the outer reaches of his irises; and Blythe glared back at him, her soft lavender eyes trying to take on a cold edge, and failing miserably. Tears lurking in the outer reaches of the white space that surrounded her irises.
Blythe didn't need to be a genius to know that Adder wasn't about to keep his so called swear on his mother, he intended to hurt her, and Blythe must do her best to brace herself, and to hopefully, find a way out of this mess.
