Character History
Taris was born in Sunberth on the 41st of Autumn in 500 AV. His father died in 508 when he was 7 years old, and his mother died a year later of a short, painful illness when he was 8 years old.
Orphaned, Taris was left to largely fend for himself. Taris has lived on the streets since that day. He quickly fell in with the young thieves and pickpockets. Taris is picking up the thief's skills, despite his clumsy nature he inherited from his mother. This clumsiness has lead him to believe he is actually more skilled than he is. Thus, he often has a cocky attitude that he cannot backup when challenged.
His only family in the world is his sister Tairi, who is 5 years older than him. When they were orphaned they each took their parents' wedding presents to each other to remember them by (Tairi took their mother's necklace and Taris took their father's ring). Tairi has had a series of legitimate jobs in the near decade since they were orphaned, working in a variety of shops. She attempts to help Taris whenever she can, but they have largely gone their separate ways. However, recent months have seen them running across the others path more frequently than in the past and Tairi has been making a greater attempt to reconnect with her little brother, inviting him to meals and to spend time with her whenever she is not working. Taris always balks at these invitations. When he does agree to join her, Tairi always tries to convince him to give up thieving and take a job with her. Taris resents her for these attempts to constrain his independence and control him. He continues to return to Tairi whenever he is in trouble, just as he has ever since they were orphaned.
