71 Winter 518 The day before, Crylon had set out from the Gem and spent some time exploring and familiarizing himself with the Seaside Market. Today he intended to actually go there to buy some things, namely the basic equipment that would be needed to clear the land near the Gem. It would be a long task, and require numerous hands working, but it could be done. But first he needed to be able to equip those hands with the needed things, or else they would not be able to safely do so. Arriving at the market, Crylon began to explore. He had not brought too much money, 50 gold mizas only. Enough, he felt, to get the basic supplies he needed, and not much more. Any more, and he felt he would call too much attention to himself and be asking to be robbed. He needed tools for breaking down the structure, for clearing the land, and he supposed for digging when it got to that point. Gloves and coverings, thick leather if possible, to protect hands at work. Gazing about he hoped for some signs, but recalled from the day before there was no such luck. It seemed to be a mess of stands, some barely standing. There was also no order to things, fish merchants next to jewelry, a man selling armor next to fruit... Someone selling poison next to someone selling bottles of some sort of "healing" tincture promised to bring vitality and long life... Which looked oddly similar the poison seller from next doors wares. Crylon realized there was nothing to it but to wander about, hoping to find what he needed. It was when he saw a table covered in leather goods that he knew he had found the first of his supplies. Gloves, packs, purses... The last looked somewhat worse for wear, with a tear down one side and a strap broken, as if ripped off someone's arms. Stopping there, he peered down at the wares, the human behind it perking up at seeing someone interested. His eyes paused for a moment on his left arm, before a fake smile crossed it. "Ah, hello, good sir! I see you have in your wisdom decided to inspect Waze's fine wares. Never will you see better! What are you looking for?" A frown on his face, Crylon paused for a moment, letting a gentle finger poke at the torn purse. “Is all damage this? Want good made, not fall part.” For a moment the man's fake smile flickered, before he shook his head. He quickly snapped a hand forward, grabbing the damaged purse and tossing it behind him. "Ah, now don't be like that. I assure you, my stuff is good stuff! That one just fell off a cart, not sure where it came from, but I promise the rest is all of the finest quality! Now, what are you needing?" Pondering for a moment Crylon grew silent, before after a pause responding. “Need gloves. Leather, thick, strong, keep hands safe. Some for adults, some smaller, for children. Couple pairs each. ?” "Ah, of course, got that right here. That'll be... A gold miza a pair for the kids gloves, and two for the adult's each." Sensing the man was trying to test him, or more to the point swindle him, Crylon considered the price for a moment. Then he took half of it, and returned an offer. “Will pay that much, but for two pairs each. Two pairs child, 1 gold miza, 2 pairs adult, 2 gold mizas. That 2 pair, 4 gloves, 2 each hand. Will buy... Six, seven, of each, small child, adult, if have of good quality.” Holding his hand to his heart, the man shook his head. "Why, you sir think to swindle me! That much a pair! Ah, I will do it, but only because you are such a good customer, and buying so many pairs. And if you've got full payment up front." Crylon paused for a few moments, letting his pause hold weight, throwing his weight about in the negotiation as best he could. The man appeared affronted, as if he was losing out, but he also seemed quick to agree to Crylon's terms... Which made him think they were not such bad terms. “Yes, but after inspect wares for good, and pick out ones want. Only quality.” The man calling himself Waza nodded, gesturing for Crylon to proceed. He quickly picked through the items, till he found what he needed, and in good quality and repair. Not falling apart, with thin bits, or missing holes in the leather. Not cracked, or other such damage visible. Seems still tight, and no stitches missing. With his relatively limited knowledge of gloves, it was the best he could do, but he was fairly certain he had found the best or at least all decent items. He was left with six pairs of children's leather gloves, 5 sm each or two for 1 gm... Which totaled 3 gm. He found seven decent pairs of the adult gloves, totaling 1 gm each, for 7 gm total. All together, it was 10 gm, which would be reimbursed by Kelski once he got back to the Gem. "Ah, would you need something to carry all that in? Surely your going to be buying other things today, and will need a pack to keep your hands free? Only 2 gold mizas more." With a frown Crylon paused again, before admitting that his tactic had worked. He had forgotten to bring a pack or something to carry it all, left it at home, and would need something to carry it once he got the other equipment. Searching through the packs laid out, mostly on the ground behind the table, he found the one that looked of the best make, and of the finest quality, and nodded at it. “Fine. 2 gold mizas. Will take that one.” With that Crylon began to take out the money to pay for the goods, and began picking up and piling his newly acquired equipment. Waze paused, looking for a moment at the pack Crylon had picked. He stared at it for a moment, as if he had not seen it before and was considering not selling it, but then he saw the money coming out, and picking up the pack and feeling its heft to make sure it was empty, passed it across to Crylon. Crylon opened the pack on the top, dropped the gloves in which even added together did not seem to add any weight to the pack, and then putting it on his back headed off in search of the other tools he would need.
