Human appearance: Orion is a rough and tumble man, and his appearance shows it. He stands at an average 6'2, with a lithe frame built for speed and agility rather than strength. But, don't let this fool you. He can handle his own in a fight. He has a strong chest and tapered waist, with finely muscles arms and legs. It's clear that this man is in top condition. His skin is a light golden in coloration, marked in various places with scars. The most prominent of them is one under his eye, resting just on top of his cheek bone and wrapping around to meet the end of his eyebrow, a risen, circular scar on the front of his shoulder from being shot with a dart, and a few lash marks going across his back. He has a mop of black hair and sharp, angular features. A few things give away his Kelvic race, such as the increased size of his incisors, his deep brown eyes, whose color seems to take up most of his sclera and hold a characteristic mischievous and intelligent gleam, and his abnormally long tongue.

Animal appearance: Orion's animal side is of mixed breed, seeming to be a cross between a wolf and one of Mizahar's other dog breeds. He stands at roughly 25 inches tall and weighs between 58-61lbs. Much like in his human form, his body is lean and agile, with a broad chest and tapered waist. He's coated in a black pelt, coarse to the touch, which thickens and keeps him comfortably warm in the winter, and thins considerably during the summer (though he does remain rather warm), but always retains his collarette. He has wideset ears and a thin snout, and his fluffy tail is almost always swinging down at his hocks.

Character Concept

Orion pointedly seems to have very little care in the world. A pessimist at heart, he goes through life like he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder and takes care of himself. He makes it his business to be witty and sarcastic, which often gets him into trouble, and he isn't afraid to get in a scuffle. But, don't let him outward façade fool you. Inside he's still a scared little boy. This is something he doesn't let anyone see, as he's been taken advantage of before. He's grown a tough skin and the chinks in his armor are tiny, though still pierceable.

As a Kelvic, he has an innate need to find a bondmate. This is only strengthened due to his animal side being a mixed breed dog. He still actively looks, yes, and if the right being comes along that seems to mesh with him well he wouldn't say no. But, he's also skeptical. As a pessimist he naturally looks for the bad in others before the good. This leads him to make early judgements and throw them out of the running. In this way, you could call him 'picky'. This is just another way that he protects himself.

Character History

Orion was born in the slums of Sunberth. He's never known his mother, as the 'no good whore' abandoned them once she found a rich bondmate. Instead, he was raised by his father, Bernard or Bert. The bear Kelvic was a rough and tumble man with a 'grizzly' appearance, broad and bulky he threw his weight around in human form just as much as he did in his animal one. That weight often landed on Orion. When he was drunk, his favorite nickname for the young Perthford was 'son of a whore', as Orion inherited more from his mother than his father, but when sober he was simply 'pup' or 'kid'.

Most of his knowledge of thievery and his pessimistic attitude comes from Bert, who had his son helping him with jobs from a young age. After all, who would suspect a cute little puppy? A common ruse they performed was to have Orion sit outside, shivering and whining until some unsuspecting fool would pick him up and take him home. He would stay with them for the day, but once night fell he would return to human form and let his father and his merry band of robber in to take their pick. Most of the time there was violence involved, and occasionally murder, but Orion never took part in the latter. He never had the heart for it.

One day, when Orion was about a year old, Bernard went out for a drink with his buddies and never came back. Orion waited several days for him to return, but he never did, so he simply turned to what he was taught. How to thieve, trick, and move on. He learned later that some of the members of the band had had a debt to settle with his father, and they had collected with his life. Even knowing this, Orion stayed with them not knowing what else to do. One by one, the members of the band either died on a job, or abandoned him, until he was alone. He continues doing what he knows best; surviving.
