Monubia
Appearance
Race: Akvatari
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Birthday: 14th of Winter, 498 AV
Birthplace: Abura
Appearance: Monubia is slightly taller than average, standing at 5'9". Her curly, muted brown hair reaches to just barely below her shoulders. The majority of her upper body, most noticeably her face, is spotted with tiny black moles. Her bright amber-like eyes contrast against her medium, caramel complexion. Monubia has a few crooked teeth. The Akvatari's tail is a dark brown, though it appears black without very close inspection, and her translucent wings are similar to those of a Diaethria anna.
Character Concept
Monubia, true to her people, is often melancholic and tends to see the negatives in life. Though she is used to this way of seeing the world, and sometimes even finds it beautiful in its own way, most others are quickly saddened or put off after hearing her speak for too long. With such a pessimistic mindset, Monubia finds it difficult to trust others or situations, resulting in a lack of friends and social skills. She is unlikely to help those in need or take action in general. If she did witness an altercation of some sort, though she wouldn't act, she would definitely not forget, and it could still leave a large psychological impact. Monubia transfers her internal fears and conflicts onto a canvas, creating heart-rending yet bewitching oil paintings. She enjoys her peace and quiet as well as cold beverages. She has an aversion to most animals and the heat.
Character History
During the season of Winter, Monubia was born to two Akvatari parents in their home city of Abura. Shortly after her conception, her father moved on to another lover, and she was put into the custody of her paranoid mother, a small but strong poet and writer who was much more blunt and jaded than her daughter ever could be. A few years following her parents seperation, her mother decided to find a new life in Kalea, and boarded onto a Svefra pod, bringing Monubia along on the journey.
It was throughout their time spent traveling that Monubia was given lessons on poetry and short stories and could also explore her own interests, like painting. She also was taught about the "true nature of the world" and "the evils of people". Her mother was overly protective and became more and more distrusting of the others as they sailed on the ship. Contrary to her concerns, however, everyone on board was friendly and delighted to hear the stories and see the art they had to offer. Monubia thoroughly enjoyed herself and started spending a lot of time with the rest of the crew, even picking up on a some basic Fratava in the process. This only infuriated her mother further, who believed they would taint her only child. She decided that they should get off and settle down temporarily on the coast of the Western Sea once they reached it.
When the time had finally come, her mother lied to her, telling her they were being kicked off and that they had actually been hated the whole time. The two quickly left and built a small, secure campsite hidden in the mountains not too far from the coast. Monubia mentioned she saw something glowing at the top of the mountains and that they could investigate together, but that idea was met with hostility and resulted in her being forbidden from traveling away from the camp. They lived seemed outwardly to live in peace for a few days, but her mother continued to fall deeper into insanity, until one unfortunate day, Monubia awoke alone. A note pinned to a journal full of her mother's poetry, short stories, and unfinished works and ideas curtly informed Monubia that the beloved but crazed woman would be once again traveling but this time without her.
Heartbroken and betrayed a second time, the girl knew she could not survive alone for like, so she packed only a few essentials that she knew her wings could carry and flew the exhausting distance to the top of the mountains. That’s when she discovered Lhavit, and from the short period since then, Monubia has been moving in there and trying to get acclimated to her new life.
