Quill's Rest

Away from the academic constraints of the University, the Quill's Rest is a safe haven for those who want peace and quiet to write or sketch, and watch the sea roll in on the shore. Found in the upper foothills of the Ancient Quarter, nestled among the residentiary avenues, the Quill’s Rest has a wide view of the bay - the vista providing inspiration aplenty - and boasts a cozy, wooden interior, with a large fireplace, and plenty of private nooks to sit in and enjoy the quiet. Originally started by a writer with a love for tea, the Quill’s Rest has embodied its purpose wholly, creating a calm, if not slightly busy, atmosphere for scholars to study to their heart’s content.

Though it doesn't serve food, the Rest is Zeltiva’s resident tea house, offering the interesting Steamed Kelp Tea, and some other local concoctions. Unlike Kelp Beer, even the most born and bred Zeltivan has trouble stomaching it. It is often frequented by scholars from the University, who initially came to escape the hustle and bustle of the students in the University. However, the Rest has recently become a popular haunt among the quieter socialites, with a Steamed Kelp Tea fad doing the rounds. Luckily, there is plenty of space within the Rest for the professors to still find a little personal space.

It is discouraged to take up space without purchasing a drink, and the small counter where the clerk can prepare drinks is stationed just to the left of the door. The Rest is run almost completely by Andus, who can be found lounging behind this counter, writing or reading in between serving customers. When one walks in they are greeted with a nod of recognition and welcome, but he does not push sales in their face, waiting for them to approach his counter for tea or coffee instead.

Concept: Andus used to be a professor at the University of Zeltiva. After his retirement, when he pursued his passion for storytelling and writing, he had the Rest built out of a desire for a safe haven, with a beautiful interior and exterior, from which to write in undisturbed. Much of the cozy, traditional Zeltivan decor is meant to calm customers and create a peaceful atmosphere for them to focus on their studies.

Andus is a perfectionist, and perhaps a little obsessive, but his heart is in the right place. He is a romantic artist after all.

Employment

Due to Andus' obsessive behavior, and the relative ease of running the Quill's Rest, he does not employ help, preferring to care for the Quill's Rest entirely by himself.
