Unassuming and quiet on first impression, Dess can appear quite unremarkable and reasonably friendly with a sardonic sense of humor. But clear blue eyes harbor intensity, measuring situations and those around him carefully. A man of discipline and regimen, his purposes are often veiled in secrecy, as are his own personal struggles. His strengths are not easily revealed, his weaknesses even less so. What is apparent is that Dess has a dogged determination when it comes to completing a task or obtaining what he desires.
The Damazar family, in conjunction with the K'etir family, has operated a secretive order for many years within their veiled keeps in the Wildlands. While the K'etir are wielders of powerful magicks, The Damazar is a martial bloodline with a history of producing soldiers, warriors, commanders and strategists. While they themselves do not field a force of any kind, other than small bands for specific purposes, Damazars operate individually, or have found their way into the garrisons of cities, orders of warriors, ranks of mercenaries and members of bandit gangs throughout Syliras and beyond. The two families' purposes are kept secret, but foremost is the protection of the rare magic the K'etir possess and sustainment of their wealth and influence in the affairs of the region, for they have powerful rivals and enemies.
Dessarian from childhood was raised a Damazar warrior, though his temperament and skills were suited to a more monastic form of discipline, foregoing most arms and armor for the tuning of his body and mind as his weapons. From a young age, he befriended a K'etir youth named Kalistan. As adults, Dessarian serves Kalistan as a trusted advisor and commander, but more so as a best friend.
The K'etir family often birthed Kelvics. It was the custom between the families that K'etir Kelvics were occasionally gifted to Damazars to keep the ties between the families strong. When Kalistan's parents bore a young Kelvic female, Kelski was promised to Dess upon her maturity, But the kelvic child was stolen by suspected rivals. Infuriated, Dess and Kalistan began the search for the child, with no success for years.
In 519, Dess and Kelski were reunited and later bonded.

Ebon traveled to Sunberth with his Bondmate Sisala North. Sisala was a very powerful Konti healer of the Opal Order who felt called to Sunberth to assist its residents with their needs. As both her bondmate and apprentice, Ebon was diligent in his studies and working hard on becoming a healer like his mistress, However, fate intervened and Sisala was killed on the streets of Sunberth leaving Ebon stunned by the death of his bondmate. Broken, hollow, and grieving, the young Kelvic had fallen into hard times living on the streets.
Discovered being robbed by part of the Sun Birth gang, Ebon was rescued by a fellow Kelvic named Kelski and her Akalak companion named Aer'wyn. Becoming almost an instant tie between the two, Ebon was taken to The Midnight Gem for healing and has stayed there, where he was given a job by the Kelvic as a clerk for her jewelry store while he gets his life straightened out, his grief in order, and picks himself back up from the deep well of despair he's been in.
When Kelski moved from Sunberth to the Empyreal Demesne, Ebon moved with her and was able to openly become a healer. He is no longer needed as a clerk to the Midnight Gem but is now more of an overall spiritual and physical counselor and healer.

Ember is the daughter of Kalistan K’etir, Kelski's full brother. Kalistan sent Ember to Kelski to accompany a copy of an Architectrix Tome, a seed, and a splinter. Her duty is to watch over Kelski and report back to Kalistan secretly on the doings of his sister to validate if the rumors of Kelski's life is true. Ember will be helping guide Kelski in the use of Architectrix. She's not versed in it herself, but is used to living in an Architectrix structure in the form of K'etir Keep. Ember is aware of her short lifespan but volunteered for the mission for her father since she is an adventuresome sort and didn't want to stay home with her siblings.
Ember moved from Sunberth to The Empyreal Demesne to help her aunt with the new project and to keep tabs on Kelski for her father.

Kelski met Mercy when she saved her life after she was beaten and dumped by the Mudway. Soon embroiled in the horrible situation where Caitlyn was in danger from a Baby Farm, Kelski took Mercy in as a helper for The Midnight Gem to give her a legitimate job and a place to keep her baby safe. Mercy is an easy going young woman, totally devoted to her daughter, and who holds a tight connection to the land. There is no cost involved in adopting Mercy since she was a rescue and not a slave purchase. Caitlyn's upkeep should be free. Mercy will be paid common seasonal expenses as she is now in charge of growing food on the Empyreal Demesne.

Mosa is one of those rare Denval survivors that ended up ultimately in Sunberth. Herself and her family managed to make it to Zeltiva on the flotilla. However, Mosa grew tired of Zeltiva, and made her way to Sunberth, following her Fortune Telling suggestions. She was looking for more than the stuffy University City could give her and Sunberth definitely was it. It wasn't as if she was reckless or thirsted for adventure. It was just that she wanted a city that was constantly changing, evolving, and one that had more flair and flavor to it than Denval and later Zeltiva could claim.
For years Mosa was popular and sought after for her Fortune Telling ability and her gentle soft-spoken voice. Having a track record of being rarely wrong, Mosa thrived. It was only after her eyesight began to fail and her aging forced her to back off her work, did she come to realize she liked living in Tent City and witnessing the day to day comings and goings of its denizens.
When she grew tired of telling fortunes, Mosa would break out her violin and gently play it for the busking coin. She still plays a bit of violin, though arthritis has slowed her down considerably. And she will throw bones or read cards if asked. One just needs to figure out her location and have the coin in hand.
Mosa likes the company and is a great storyteller. She will even teach people Fortune Telling and Violin if they ask her nicely and bring around a hallway decent instrument.
Since Mosa had been mostly staying at The Midnight Gem over the winter as life in Tent City was rough, Kelski simply took Mosa with her from Sunberth to The Empyreal Demesne and has allowed the old woman to live with her since.

Having escaped the Demazar K'etir Massacre of 519 by being away from home, Darcee sought out the wandering Hattie Zrevan for refuge and joined her in Sylira where the managed to meet up with the remaining members of their family to regroup after the Drust caused tragedy.
Darcee is a quiet woman, not unlike the rest of the Damazar. She grew up within her family as an outstanding Herbalist and Philterer. While not combat proficient or magical herself, Darcee provides an amazing service to her family in her knowledge of herbs and how to put them together in new and interesting ways.

Hattie is the black sheep of the Zrevan family. Not wanting to follow in the footsteps of her parents, siblings, and even cousins... Hattie did not stay home and work on the estates of The Demazar or The K'etir. Instead, she wandered the world, looking for something more and learning to survive outside of the luxury her family was used too.
Hattie ran into the remains of the Demazar and K'etir family and has joined forces with them feeling obligated to see to it that they survive in the future. She's also found a kindred spirit in Mosa, and the two elder women have been getting on fabulously.

If ever there was someone who held the reins of the supply line and had an internal inventory of anything in a stock room she'd been involved in stocking that would be Lynneah. She has a memory that's impressive, a real gift for calculating in her head, and she can make supplies meant for one stretch for ten if necessary.
Lynneah is Hattie's daughter. She's always been somewhat embarrassed by her mother's wanderlust and inability to stay home. However, due to recent events surrounding the Zrevan family, she's grateful she had someone to run to and bring her daughter along.

Keesha is at that stage in life where she fails as much as she succeeds, but she does so with good humor and conviction that next time will be better. Fleeing the situation with the Drust, Keesha came with her mother in search of her grandmother to shelter in the most obscure part of Sylira until recent troubles blow over.

Toni is a man on a calling. Sent from the sea to solve more than one problem, this Iyvess caught wind of the new guild and after extensively questioning the Meraki, offered his services to them. Toni is an easy going craftsman who cannot properly ply his chosen trade beneath the sea. To that end, he has always sought out land dwellers to work with. He has an inherent love of all things wood and makes beautiful incredible pieces for furniture and larger projects like docks all with his own hands.
He particularly loves rescuing sunken woods and reclaiming them. He feels pre-Valterrian logs sheltered beneath the sea are superior lumber and utilizes them whenever he can.

Tessa is the daughter of a prominent Zeltiva Professor. She loves her father dearly, but there has and always will be a major rift between them because Tessa hates the whole University vibe and has always wanted to be outside playing with wildlife and learning in a whole different way. Her first experience with bees was when a nice swarm moved into her childhood treehouse on her Zeltiva estate and forced Tessa to learn how to co-exist with them if she wanted to keep using her outside escape space. Ever since that day, she's discovered a gift with wild bees (and tame ones) and has simply kept managing.
Under pressure from her father to either get a degree (or ten) or marry well, Tessa fled the city proper, introduced herself to the Meraki, and has moved in as their full time beekeeper. She is still something of a Wild Child and at times acts more like a kelvic than an actual human.

Rescued from the Sea of Grass by merchants as a child when her pavilion was killed, this displaced Drykas grew up as a Mage's assistant in Syliras. He was the only person that would take on a grieving child like Zala was at eight. She worked hard with the blind old man for ages. Balask treated her well, almost like a daughter, and she learned magic from him. When he died recently, she set off to find a place in the world. Her restlessness didn't settle her in Zeltiva but instead took her beyond, into the bay, where she found the ED and knew she was home.

Saegus is often pushing limits. And among the Nuits, his independence wasn't appreciated or required. Thus, after spending most of their life in Sahova, Dunstin and Saegus decided to leave the city of the dead for a more human friendly place. The ED suited both the brother's needs due to its welcoming nature towards mages and its need for more magical resources.
Of the two brothers, Saegus is the risk taker. He likes to push the envelope and hates to hear the words 'You can't do that.'. Inside him is a burning need, once told he can't, to do it anyhow and often he is successful.

Dunstin is the more mild mannered of the two twins. Coming from Sahova with his twin brother Saegus, Dunstin was ready for a new life NOT among the Nuits but someplace beautiful, magical, and yet more normal for their situation. The twins didn't travel far, but instead settled in a Kelvic Formed Mage guild called The Meraki and offered their services as teachers and mentors to see that the young group got off the ground.
The Alchemist himself is a huge lover of the creatively beautiful. Dunstin appreciates glass, and likes the ED environment since it provides some of the nicest sand for his glass making projects anywhere.

Nevar has a hard time fitting in. Although he is only half symenestra, people often feel due to this pale coloring that he is a full blood. And when they fear that, they think he is on the hunt for broodmare humans for Symenestra to take back to Kalinor and reproduce with. This is the furthest thing from Nevar's mind. He spent the majority of his life in Kalinor and rebelled against its cruel old fashioned ways. He couldn't wait to leave, and did so ending up in Zeltiva where he found himself utterly shunned and often refused services or even housing.
When rumor caught him about the Merakai, he sought them out and offered to work for them as a full time hunter. They happily agreed, not put off by his race or the rumors about his Symenestra half.

When she was on her way home for a visit, she caught rumors of the ED and stopped by for a visit. After suggesting they put in a mill to meet their basic building needs, Sona was giving funds to procure the proper equipment and then returned to set up the mill herself. On her way home, she brought one of her cousins with her to work as brute labor at the mill.

He's not actually the ambitious sort. Instead, he's happy doing what needs to be done and loves hard work. When he's not at the mill running lumber - since it does not need to run full time - he is often found with Dawson getting his hands dirty in the earth.

So he picked up his farming tools and headed for Zeltiva from Syliras and then volunteered his services at the ED when the time was right.
He is going to start out small, but as time and space provide, he will expand the ED farms considerably so the whole of the Guild will be well fed year round.

Jackson has heard the call of hot metal all his life. When he first heard of the Meraki and that they were hiring on staff as permanent residents of a new homestead out on Mathews Bay, he was skeptical. But taking a day trip out there with a Svefra friend of his Zeke who was also checking out the facility and location, they both opted to join up at the same time and become residents.
For him, it was the thrill of seeing someone really build something from the ground up and be a part of it. He could tell there was hard work involved, but that wasn't anything he was afraid of. He liked the diversity of people that he was going to be working with and for... and he liked the fact that the Meraki seemed capable enough to both provide for the little Demesne they were creating and to perhaps feed their members generously. He was frankly tired of Zeltiva's food rations and the constant starvation cycle.
This place looked bountiful and he could tell between the sawmill and the manor that was slowly forming, that there would always be need for his work.
