Finn worked as he talked with Kamilla, as he slowly felt more comfortable with their current situation. The heavy rain continued to rain down on them while it soaked everything in its path. He hadn’t noticed the cold until he heard his passenger’s teeth chattering as she stood next to the ship’s wheel, which he barely noticed over the sound of the rain hitting the sails and the deck. He agreed it was cold and wet but his work around the ship kept him moving a little more than her and he refused to let it bother him at this point.
Her answer confused him for a moment as he decided if his question was vague, simply misunderstood, or if that was sensitive information to her but it didn’t really matter anyway as he was only trying to pass the time and conversation was always nice so he continued on to himself as much as to her. “I saw you had made some marks on your hands earlier and wondered what that was about. Which doesn’t even count the water and air you worked with, nor the ice you made.” he talked as he continued his adjustments on the sail while the winds continued to slowly change as they moved in the storm although the waves continued to batter them occasionally and the lightning still cracked now and then but slowly moved off behind them.
With his sails full of wind and the ship moving at a good clip as he returned to the wheel near where Kamilla held on as he checked on the Pirate’s position. They moved along well themselves as the moved over and through the waves with the occasional lurch on the heaviest of waves or wind gusts as they battered the casinor. The other ship had slipped slightly further behind since last time he looked but the heavy rains also obscured his view as much as anything while only a silhouette of the ship was visible for the moment. “At least the rain is working in our favor and I think our lead has grown at least a bit also.” he stated the obvious. He watched the silhouette in the distance for a chime as he gauged his speed compared to theirs. “I’m thinking we might be just a bit faster at the moment.” he said as a small hopeful smile crept onto his face.
With the ship momentarily safe at least and although the pirates were still too close for his comfort but he figured he could take a chime for himself. He moved as quickly to the mast as the rocking would allow to retrieve the water skin which he took a long gulp of before he hung it next to the wheel for Kamilla if she should choose. “Help yourself to the water.” he said as he passed by her on his way to the cabinet next to the cabin door where he pulled out a piece of canvas.
He shook out the canvas and wrapped it around the shoulders of the drenched but still lovely woman. “That should shed most of the water for a good while and might keep you a little warmer too.” He knew it wasn’t much but hoped it helped as he stood and looked over the sails to make sure they kept abreast of any changes in the storm or wind.

Kamilla Circe Gordon
While she'd tried to casually derail Finn's question about her magic, it was to no avail as he caught and redirected the conversation right back to it with a frustratingly noninvasive way of doing so. She'd really realised it before, but the young svefra was surprisingly charming and charismatic for someone his age as well as in general. Above that, Finn he was handsome and a gracious host. Since their trip across the Suvan Sea had begun he'd been nothing but pleasant and attentive to her and her needs without ever seeming like someone who could easily be taken advantage of. He was somehow strong and gentle at thr same time. She couldn't help thinking that he must have been very sought after amongst the svefran girls of his pod and others.
She'd been so absorbed in her badly timed thoughts that it took her a good few ticks before she returned to the real world and the chattering of her teeth, instantly regretted it as the biting cold was felt once again. That was right, they were still in the storm, freezing from the rain and being tailed by the most repulsive, amd only, group of sea scum she'd ever met AND Finn was still expecting a reply to his very well placed trap of a question.
It seemed that over the course of their trip, Finn had been paying far more attention to her than expected, though she didn't know why she was so surprised. After all, she was the only other person aboard the tiny ship with him, so why wouldn't he notice most of the things she did. Regardless, she needed to say something and given how much he'd already seen and how much they'd been through together, hiding further knowledge about her magics almost seemed foolish.
"The c-control of the elements is called... Reimancy, and I can control all of the ones you m-mentioned as well as earth..." She managed to stutter out, having to pause in moments of intensified shivering before taking a deep breath to compose herself, annoyed at her feeble shivering while Finn seemed so unperturbed by the rain. "The marks were glyphs, magic writings that can effect magic in numerous ways but are useless on their own." She'd tried her best to simmarize her explanations into as simple a form as she could and hopefully succeeded.
Moving on, Kamilla let out a wavering sigh of relief as Finn pointed out that the rain was assisting them in their escape. "Good, with any luck we'll get away from those wretched pirates and never see them again..." She paused to look behind them in search of the enemy ship and spotting it's silhouette in the distance, "... Or at least till I can get some rest, then I'll make sure it's the last time they surprise us or anyone." After all, the pirates had been nothing but a monumental nuisance to the duo who were just trying to make their way to Syka undisturbed.
When Finn offered her the water she accepted, despite the thought of the cold liquid adding to her current freezing status, because she still had the taste of her own puke in her mouth from earlier. Thankfully, the drink wasn't nearly as cold as she'd feared and after a brief swish and spit, the puke taste was gone and replaced by a gulp of the refreshingly clean water. "Thanks..." she began, only to have to repeat it as the attentive svefra wrapped a canvas sheet around her to shelter her from the rain and cold, "... Thanks."
Kamilla sincerely hoped they'd be done with the pirates this time. She was freezing, light headed, exhausted in mind body and spirit and honestly she just wanted to curl up in a bundle of blankets and pass out for the next few hours. She prayed that it wasn't too much to ask but only time would tell.

He was mildly surprised when she answered his questions so easily but he also realized that he liked the conversation with the mage besides it helped keep his attention on the casinor and not entirely on the pirate ship that followed the pair. “Someday you may have to show me how to use magic, not that I would have your expertise but it might prove useful at times.” Finn spoke out loud as he thought about it before he realized what he said. “Of course that is only if you agreed to it someday, not that you have to.” He finished quickly so he didn’t press it before he continued to check over the sail lines.
"... Or at least till I can get some rest, then I'll make sure it's the last time they surprise us or anyone."
Kamilla statement surprised the Svefra, although he had no argument with it himself but he threw the well dressed woman a smile anyway but didn’t doubt her resolve or ability.“I would love to help or watch you do that!” he responded but knew his help was quite limited to be sure. He hoped to continue to move away from the pirates and get to Syka without any further issues though, once there he would find and send an Avikki gull to his people and inform the nearest pods of the events at hand. With any luck, his Svefra would get retribution for the pair if nothing else but he likely wouldn’t hear back even if they did.
The storm intensity lessened a little but continued to drop rain continuously on the duo as they sailed on. Although he hoped Kamilla was afforded a little protection from the sheet, they both continued to be drenched by the rain while he at least tasted the salt on his lips from the waves their ship crashed through sprayed them with sea water as his tavan suddenly reappeared out of the rain almost on top of them. She glided right into the boat and almost to Kamilla until she finally folded up her wings and dropped onto the deck before she walked over close to the cabin and tucked herself down as much out of the weather as the bird could manage before she looked to fall fast asleep or attempted to anyway.
Finn was relieved to see the bird back as he looked around behind them, the pirate ship was nowhere to be seen again. He double checked around them for anything at all but only saw rain in all directions, the lightning still flashed in the distance but it also continued to fall behind them and the thunder no longer shook the ship. He suspected it would be some time before the storm spent all of the energy and let the seas calm again and until then he knew he would be unable to leave his post at the helm for fear of his ship let alone the ‘friends’ that followed them.
He looked up and noticed the cold and wet mage again, it only took him a tick to decide that she would be much better off below for a while. “I think you have done enough for now and there is little you can do at the moment Kamilla, so why don’t you get below to dry off, maybe change clothes, and warm up again. Might as well rest for a while if the waves are not too bad for you.” He mustered as much authority into his voice as he could while he tried to leave little for debate but he doubted she would complain much considering their latest encounter. The small but friendly smile never left his face as he concluded “Good night.”
Finn continued with the chores of the ship as he sailed on and kept a watchful eye on his passengers. His lazy gull had seemed to glue herself to the deck near him and only occasionally gave him a look when he got too close to her or when the ship rocked to violently. He tightened the sails and tied the lines again as they slowly came undone in the winds, adjusting the ships course as they trudged onward in the hope of losing the pirates behind them all together. As the chimes passed he kept hoping the rains wouldn’t stop until night fell so they could slip away quietly before Syna arose in the morning.
