[Completed] The Halloween Challenge (10/27-11/3)

Welcome to Mizahar's Halloween Challenge!

Tis the season for ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night. For this week-long challenge starting today and ending Sunday night at 9pm PST.... feel free to write a spooky, creepy, or even a horrific story to honor the season of Halloween! We haven't had a holiday challenge in a while, so lets really get this one going as a NaNo Warmup! Your challenge can be a single thread or a series of threads. Content, Word Count, and possibly a vote by the site will determine winners. Prizes will be fun Halloween themed magic items.

Each participant must pick at three items and incorporate them into this challenge in some way or another. You can use more than three! It might be just a mentioning, or it might be a key element. Dress your story appropriately!

Great challenge!

I'll be participating using:

Blood,
Lit Jack-o-lanterns, and
A mad cook.
-added ghost to the mix too-

Although, I may end up using some other elements as well. Good luck folks.

Behind the Doorway = 5781 words.
Ennisa has been investigating her best friend's strange behaviour. She found out her friend's boyfriend is a bit of a weirdo. After trying to intervene to no success, she decides to investigate the boyfriend's house and discovers a creepy room with a pumpkin carved in the likeness of the ghost, a pool of blood from a pig's carcass, and the aforementioned ghost that freaks her the heck out and warns her away. The mystery's still not solved, but the thread is finished. That was a fun challenge.

I'm definitely jumping in on this one, and I can't decide what to use so I'll use some combination of ghosts, blood, bones, mysteries, and monsters.

I finished with 2,534.

A Chime Too Long - 3370

A Lark child asks Rohka to help him, to give him a reading. His slave friend Maya is in troule and he wants to make a sacrifice to Rhysol. He gives her his bloodstone necklace and Rohka begins to perform a ritual in the middle of the Temple of the Black Sun.

Who is the mysterious figure that joins them?!

Fun challenge! I got Costumes, Scary Noises, and Skeletons or Bones on a roll. I'll see how many more I can squeeze in too!

A Rattled Dance

Baelin sees a woman clad in a bone costume dancing upon the Gallows. He tries to help her, largely fails, and meets Jebediah the undertaker in the dust bed. Finished!

[Halloween Challenge] When Ghosts Walk The Night

The thread is complete. Dess and Kels discover a ghost in their tower. They talk to him, learn he is an ancestor and what happened to him. They investigate and discover his bones in the basement. They then lay his bones to rest next to his wife, thus crossing him over. It turns out the ghost was Dess' great great great grandmother's husband.

I'll be giving this a try, it looks fun! Right now I'm eyeing ghosts, graveyards, and maybe mysteries as my elements, but I might switch them up or add some.

Edit: Finished In the Dead of Night with 3,609 words. I used ghosts, graveyards, and mysteries, as well as scary noises. I plan on continuing this thread in a part 2 to finish the plot, but this is all that I'll have done in time for the challenge deadline.
