7 Winter 519, 7th Bell
Gus cautiously pushed against the door, slowly creaking it open as he looked out into the hallway. No one seemed present as he pushed heavily once to force the door to swing away from him, and stepped into the hall, glancing both ways.
Gus had decided that it was time to use the money that his parents had thankfully provided him in approval of his growing independence. His first steps towards that, as he had been thinking about it during a bit of meditation, would be to rent his own room. He had for now decided to rent a room daily, instead of paying ahead. After all, the entire city was open to him now, considering his age and the trial of the Magekiller. Gus stepped lightly down the hallway to settle that, and to begin the process of moving a few items.
Once that was done, Gus stopped and considered the room. It would do well for his purposes, not that there were many. He had decided to leave the plant his mother had given him in his parents apartment, simply due to the fact that his did not have windows.
That done, Gus listened as the 8th bell rang. He had plenty of time before class, but Gus decided to leave quite early, and take his time on the way there. Gus pushed his door open, climbed on the small block just outside his door, and reached up to stick the metal key into the lock. A short twist before removing the key with an audible click before Gus put it into his backpack. Well, more of a pouch really, some fabric sewn together in a type of drawstring bag that he could take the excess rope and tie around one shoulder and across his body.
Feeling the bag secure, he hopped down from the block, and made his way to the swinging door to the outside. With a short stop to push a way out for himself, he made his way with short steps out towards the plaza, glancing around curiously as he saw people in the midst of business after the dawn rest.
