[Sunberth] NPC/Location Requests

Postby Crylon Stonecraft on March 30th, 2019, 4:38 pm

Name: Jack, A.K.A. Jack One Name
Race: Human
DoB: 70 Summer 489 AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: N/A
Skills: Brawling 18, Carpentry 12, Construction 15, Gambling 20, Larceny 5, Masonry 30.
Gnosis: N/A
Appearance: Jack is a average looking fellow if ever there was one. Not young, but not old. Not tall nor short for a human at just under six foot tall (5'10"). He has sandy brown hair, brown eyes, and never seems fully shaven though he keeps the rest of his hair on the short side.

History: Born in Sunberth to a prostitute and a Shipwright, Jack grew up never knowing his father and ended up an orphan when his mother vanished one night when he was five years old. Because of this he goes by his single first name, which has gotten some to call him Jack One Name as his proper title as if in mocking. Not that you would know this from Jack, as he seems to take it all in stride and not respond strongly to either name.

On the streets for a short bit of time, Jack ended up living at the orphanage, and there learned a bit of trade skills he uses today to make a living.

His main focus was on Masonry, something he had a bit of a knack for, though never seemed to fully master even after years of work. Its unclear if this is due to lack of talent, or lack of interest, as Jack seems never that focused on his work. To him its more a means to an ends, living and having coin in his pocket, more so than any actual love of the craft.

He spends most of his employed time moving from one worksite to another, spending a few days here or there assisting with some side part of a job or focusing on his main skill. The rest of the time he spends drinking or gambling, the latter appearing to be the reason he is always short of coin and looking for work.

Name: Tycho Grimfist (Tycho Woodland)
Race: Human
DoB: Spring 90th, 494 AV
PoB: Syliras
Title: Daggerhand Big Brother
Skills:
Boxing: 76
Brawling: 50
Weapon: Dagger :64
Intimidation 40
Endurance: 35
Cooking:40

Additional Info:

Tycho is a Syliran born lad who found himself all the way to Sunberth thanks to dear ol' da. Whatever his father's reasons for moving them all the way to Sunberth Grimfist didn't know nor cared. All young Tycho knew at the time was that he was easy meat if the youngboys father own mugging happened to be indication. Eventually his old man fell down the shaft and left Tycho all by his lonesome. Unlike his deceased old man Tycho was made of sterner stuff and his survival instinct gave birth to a desperation to survive. That desperation turned the outsider boy into one of the meanest thugs that eventually found itself into the clutches of the Daggerhand, adapting Grimfist as a new last name and becoming one of the Gang's bully boys and eventually mean enough to challenge a big sibling, taking their place.

He became known for holding grudges, which in Sunberth isn't an unusual trait to have, but combined with his desperation tobe viewed as tough, givesbirth to an obsession to teach those outside the gang who embarass him a hard lesson in manners.

[Sunberth] NPC/Location Requests

Postby Asterope on February 28th, 2020, 2:41 am

Forgot to post this, but here's a city NPC that was previously approved through the HD when Sunberth didn't have a ST!

ImageName: Imogen Heartwood
Nickname(s): Im, Immy
Gender: Female
Race: Human
DoB: Spring 25th, 509 AV (10 years old)
PoB: Sunberth
Skills: Acrobatics - 30, Acting - 42, Begging - 45, Cosmetology - 12, Gardening - 25, Larceny - 55, Running - 60, Stealth - 58, Unarmed Combat - 10, Weapon (Stiletto Dagger) - 22
Language: Common (Fluent)

Slightly small for her age, both shorter and skinnier than the average 10 year old, Imogen looks youthful even for her age, and is often mistaken for being a few years younger than she actually is; something she has come to use to her advantage. She has peachy skin usually covered in bruises and scrapes and a layer of dirt that obscures her faint freckles, a small snub nose, and wide, large honey-brown eyes. Her blonde hair is short, with blunted bangs, and usually frizzy and slightly greasy; she learned about colouring hair at a young age from her mother and has taken to dyeing the ends of hers pink with whatever she can get her hands on, whether it be fruit juice, wine, or crushed flower petals.

Imogen is one of the many children that roam the streets of Sunberth without a true home; her mother was a prostitute who raised her on her own until Imogen was about seven years old, at which point she became very sick and passed away. Imogen had already taken to pickpocketing and odd jobs to help them survive, as many children in Sunberth do, so the transition into full street life was not overly hard for her.

She wasn't alone for long before she ended up being brought to the Orphanage by Jillene, and while she continues to live there, she dislikes the crowded building and prefers to spend her time on the streets. Imogen dislikes direct conflict; she prefers to pickpocket or to use her appearance and begging techniques to swindle people of their coins rather than any more aggressive approach, and she steers clear of the scraps among her peers as much as possible. That said, she won't hesitate to defend herself if she has to, and does get into the occasional scrape.

Imogen is a lively child full to the brim with curiosity and cheerfulness, despite her surroundings. She is sly and mischievous, and has a surprisingly quick wit and sharp tongue. She has learned the hard way not to be naive, but she still has kindness in her that the city hasn't yet stomped out, and she seems unbothered for the most part by her circumstances.

Notably, Imogen manages to find the beauty in the small things; she has an ever-expanding collection of trinkets that include feathers, pressed flowers, broken jewelry, sea glass, and particularly shiny or pretty pebbles that she hoards carefully. She also has what she calls a 'secret garden', which is a small patch of wiry grass and wildflowers that she found growing in the rubble of an old building in the Sunset Quarters; this is her secret spot and the place she most enjoys spending time, and she has begun to try her hand at gardening by growing additional flowers there.

Also, here's another NPC for submission, and a location to go with! :) Let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Bright Fortunes

Image

Usually found somewhere in the Seaside Market, the exact location ever-shifting and somehow never far from a rickety cart that sells flowers, there is a rather worn yellow tent. The flaps are folded back; inside, the ground is covered with carpets and cushions. Lamps and candles light the interior, and flowers decorate the space, hanging in garlands and sitting in vases. There are a few crates lying around as well. A wooden sign outside declares 'Bright Fortunes' in yellow paint.

A young woman with wildly curly white-blonde hair, dressed in vibrant yellow, sits at the table. She most often has a deck of cards in her hands, but it is not uncommon to also see a crystal orb or a cup of tea or stones or even bones between her fingers. A plate of baked goods is almost always present on the table as well, and visitors are encouraged to take as much as they like; truth be told, the goods aren't usually very good...more often than not they are burnt, flavourless, or had too much flour dumped into the recipe.

The woman who runs the tent smiles brightly at all those who enter, even passerbys, and will always invite anyone who meets her gaze in to have a seat and have their fortune told; 'after all', the woman tells everyone who enters her tent. 'The future is bright!'

Aithnerissa
ImageName: Aithner'issa
Gender: Female
Race: Konti
DoB: Summer 82nd, 411 AV (108 years old)
PoB: Mura
Gnosis: 2 marks from Avalis (Divination level 2)
Skills: Calligraphy - 30, Cooking - 20, Cosmetology - 45, Drawing - 55, Dual Wield - 46, Fortune Telling - 85, Observation - 88, Painting - 52, Philosophy - 58, Sewing - 60, Storytelling - 36, Weapon (Suvai) - 78, Weaving - 22
Languages: Common (Fluent), Kontinese (Fluent), Tukant (Basic), Fratava (Basic)

Aithner'issa, who often goes by Aithne, is an eccentric and somewhat strange woman. To those who know little about Konti, she looks no older than a teenager, but she is well nearing the halfway point of her lifespan at over 100 years old. Still, she enjoys the illusion of naivety, and doesn't usually say anything to contradict those that assume she is very young.

A fan of all things bright, cheerful, and beautiful, Aithne is much the same. She is a pleasant and bubbly person with a cheerful and energetic demeanour; however, she is not stupid or naive, and she has proven herself with the pair of suvai she carries on her more than once.

Aithne's favourite colour is yellow, a fact that is made blatantly clear by the fact that she is almost always wearing a vivid or garish shade of the colour, even down to her make-up. She has pale skin and vivid blue eyes, and a mass of white-blonde curls that she lets fall loose and free, often adorned with flowers in some manner or another. Pale yellow-blue iridescent scales adorn her forehead, cheeks, and run along her limbs, marking her clearly as a Konti.

Born and raised for much of her life on Mura, Aithne was marked by Avalis at birth and grew up honing her fortune telling skills. Over her life, she picked up various other creative skills, some of which she is better at than others. Eventually, her calling left her to lead Mura; she spent some time in Riverfall before traveling with a group of Svefra for awhile, finally departing in Sunberth, where she has lived for the past few years.

Aithne is most often found in the Seaside Market; she tells fortunes in various methods from her small, bright yellow tent that she moves around frequently. She can often be found setting up shop near Lana's flower cart, as she fell in love with the woman's flower crowns and the two became friends over time.

She tries to remain positive and optimistic even in a city such as Sunberth, and has tasked herself with bringing some of her brightness and positivity into the city and its citizens; no matter what fortune she tells, she always tries to put an optimistic spin on it, and she always greets and bids clients farewell by telling them that their future is bright.

[Sunberth] NPC/Location Requests

Postby Resolve on February 28th, 2020, 7:15 pm

Approved! Bright Fortunes will tentatively be at M8 for the current version of the map. Since a fixed location doesn't reflect the moving nature of Aithne's tent, that "M8" might change in the future to something more fluid.

[Sunberth] NPC/Location Requests

Postby Baelin Holt on March 24th, 2020, 10:48 pm

I’m a terrible role model, I have a handful of city NPCs that I got approved via the HD and never posted anywhere for others to use. So here’s a collection of NPCs!

Approved via HD, lives and works at Brega’s, used here
ImageName: Rose Nightfall
Race: Human
DoB: 32 of Summer, 494 AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Prostitute at Brega's House of Happy Endings
Skills: Seduction 30, Persuasion 10, Negotiation 10
Gnosis: None

Additional Info: Rose has been one of Brega’s whores since she was a girl. Adept at getting both men and women to spend their mizas on her, Rose flirts like she breathes. She relies on her seductive abilities as both a method of sales and as a familiar way to chat, and she’s no stranger to smoothing out a customer’s potential discomfort with sweet words and a soothing touch.

Approved via HD, works in Commons and lives in Sunset Quarters
ImageName: Tobias Hildebrand
Race: Human
DoB: 12 of Spring, 581 AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Tanner
Skills: Tanning 62, Negotiation 38, Weapon (Knife) 27
Gnosis: None

Additional Info: Life is difficult; a fact Tobias is well aware of. Every day, he gets up early and works on hides that still need to be tanned. And every day, as Syna crests, he and his son cart leather to his stall in the Commons. Every day, he haggles and wheedles. And every day, he comes home exhausted and spent. A never-ending and all too unsatisfying grind. With his wife long since dead, the stress of having to raise a kid on his own, and the unending grind of his daily life, Tobias sought relief in the form of ale. Lots of ale. In the beginning, it was only to take the edge off after work. Now, he spends his days hungover and his nights intoxicated, all in a long, exhausting spiral of existing.

Tobias doesn’t remember most of his nights, but he’s seen his son’s bruises. And while a part of him recognizes that this can’t go on, another, far more persuasive part can’t imagine living without ale to ease his burden. So he drinks, he tans hides, and he sells leather in the Commons. Day. After. Day.

Approved via HD, used here
ImageName: Lily Blackburn
Race: Human
DoB: 87 of Summer, 508 AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Raider in the Sun’s Birth
Skills: Acrobatics 34, Brawling 29, Weapon (Shortsword) 23, Intimidation 17
Gnosis: None

Additional Info: For as long as Lily could remember, she’s wanted to be a Dragoon. She grew up in the Sun’s Birth―her mother having joined the Dragoons’ ranks shortly after Joander took the Gated Community―and has always had the ambitious dream of one day being the Warmarshal. Lily would stick-fight with the other kids and get into brawls with whoever she could get riled up―whatever she could do to prepare herself for her dream. The only flaw that she could find with her grand plan was her mother’s insistence that she stop. No matter how much Lily insisted or reasoned or begged with her mother, her mom simply wouldn’t budge. She didn’t want her daughter to be just another sword among the Dragoons, and she told Lily as much over and over again.

Lily used to resent her mom for that. But now? She just wants her back. The night of masks and ghosts had claimed her mom as one of its casualties, and now what used to be a fun pursuit for Lily has become an obsession. Furious resolve drives her: she’s determined to become a Dragoon so fearsome that her enemies will quake in their boots at the very mention of her. No one comes in and attacks her home and people like that. No one.

Approved via HD, used here
ImageName: Ifra Moran
Race: Human
DoB: 20 of Winter, 586 AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Weaver
Skills: Weaving 46, Persuasion 32, Weapon (Dagger) 29
Gnosis: None

Additional Info: A long-time member of the Seaside Market, Ifra used to be a regular face among the daily peddlers. Her garments may have not been the fanciest, but they’d do your average Sunberther just fine. A generally pleasant person, Ifra had a knack for convincing people to buy some of her nicer pieces over the standard ware, and was always able to take a day of too-few sales in stride.

That changed when she came home to find her two young kids missing. An older child―left in charge of watching Ifra’s and a handful of other kids too young to be left alone―hadn’t even noticed that they’d wandered off. The next several days had been a blur of panic, terror, and desperation that all culminated in the terrible discovery of two small, dehydrated bodies tucked into a side-alley of the Sunset Quarters. The death of her two children has changed Ifra. She can still be found selling garments in the Seaside Market, but the loss has left her raw and scattered.
