A Whole New World (Crylon)

She smiled as the man spoke about a crow mimicking language. From her spot in the pool, she focused on the sounds she'd learned at the Gallows in Sunberth. And she let loose several cries of the Skull Crow, laughing after she finished. "Yes, all crow learn many tongue. Make them better hunter. Smarter hunter." She waded closer, to the side of the pool closest to him, resting her arms on the side and her chin upon those.

And she listened to his words. He spoke of many colors of the bow. Colors that had been seen, and those that had not. It made noise but not really. Kopesha knew what that meant. It was like how she could feel the life in Chokaji's chest when she would lay upon it. She could feel his heart thumping, but there was always that intangible feeling of life therein too. And she remembered the pain when that was gone.

And when it materialized an arrow in his hand, Kopesha startled, swearing in her native Tawna, "What the Hai?!" She had startled backwards a bit. Magic! Curiosity was quick to take over and she edged back to the side of the pool, and she watched him make another.

She snorted in jest at his question, "No, bow no make arrow. Not normal." Then with excited mirth in her voice, "Is magic." Shaking her head and still smiling, she climbed up out of the pool, the water cascading down her nubile form. She walked over, grabbing her bow case from her pack. She opened it up, pulling the horn and wood bow that belonged to Chokaji. She always felt comfort when she held it, as though he was there with her, helping her to hunt.

She placed a hand on Crylon's shoulder, "Come. No more look. Time do." She waited for him to stand up, as her eyes scanned the courtyard. Plenty of things to use. "Pick up bow. Hold with weak hand." She was left handed, so hers was held in her right hand. She held up her bow, showing him where she held it, showed him how her fingers gripped it.

And she began to teach him much like her mother had taught her. "Bow not tool. Bow piece of you. Bow like hand, like foot, like eyes." She then directed his attention down her body to her bare feet. She moved them into a firing position. She preferred to use her right leg as lead, to match the pointed nature of her bow. Her other leg was back a bit, her foot turned outward, opening up her hips. "Bow use all of body. Much important. Forget one thing, all break. Plant feet like tree. Strong, hard." She then gestured to her knees and thighs, "Small bend, like in river. Give strength to bigger," she said showing how her thigh muscles flexed in this position.

Her hands led upward. Her stomach was thin but she kept her spine straight, and her stomach was slightly flexed though not held taut. "Strong, but be like grass." She twisted, trying to convey that you moved at the waist. Her hand moved up to her diaphragm, "Big air in," she said as she inhaled through her nose deeply, letting him see her rib cage expand and lift. As she released the breath, "Air out when shoot arrow."

She repeated the breath, now showing him the complete cycle of arm motions and breathing. She showed him how she held and pointed the bow now, twisting at her waist to aim. "Lead arm strong, firm. Back arm, serpent, strong but move free." She then breathed in as she drew the string, and as she exhaled, she let it loose, letting him hear the snapping.

Then she grabbed one of her own arrows, returning back to her normal position, showing him the entire process all at once, though slowly. She took her position, nocked her arrow, pulled the arrow back, "Relax. Calm. If relax, aim with eyes, body follow." Then she smiled, "Chair." And on the exhale, she loosed the arrow. It didn't have far to fly, twenty feet and it hit the edge of the chair, glancing off and embedding in a plant. She scrunched her nose at her poor shot. "You do now."

A Whole New World (Crylon)

Postby Crylon Stonecraft on September 12th, 2020, 2:26 am

Crylon frowned in confusion at the woman, wondering why she was making odd bird sounds. If nothing else it was distracting when he was trying to focus. Then he realized what he had just said, and that... Apparently the woman had not been listening at all to what he had said. Or at least she had taken what he said, listened to it, and assumed he meant something other than what he had said.

“Why you make bird sound? I say crow, speak like person. Use words. Better I use, common. Not say make bird sounds. I say what say, not say other say.”

Perhaps, Crylon thought to himself, this was a human thing? It did seem to happen quite often when dealing with humans. And non-Isur. But then, Isur were rather precise in their speech and so tended to be more literal than non-Isur. So perhaps it was that as well.

His concentration broken, and having gotten the main gist of what he had wanted to see, Crylon let his aura sight fade and felt his use of djed diminish to nothing. The colors and sensations of the aura sight quickly faded into the void of the empty air leaving him seeing and sensing only with his more mundane capabilities. He felt tired from his efforts. Not like he was about to pass out, but like he could do with a good nap and wanted nothing more than to sit down.

He had not figured bows normally made their own arrows from the air, having figured some kind of magic was at work, but he felt it did not hurt to check. He did not really know much about their use, and was by habit a clarifier even if he was already ninety nine percent sure.

“Is figure magic, but... Is good, make of sure.”

Focusing on the bow in his hands Crylon vaguely noticed Kopesha rising out of the water, but did not bother looking over at the moment.

When he felt a hand on his shoulder he knew she had approached, and turned to see the bow she was holding. In some respects it was similar to the one he held, being a bow of a similar size, but in other regards it was quite different.

He glanced over at her for a moment, realizing she had disrobed at some point and was still wet. Likely, he reasoned, she had done so to go for a swim. Being an Isur himself he did not overly care about her nudity, having been startled much more by her random bird noises. At her insistence Crylon rose to stand beside her.

Isur were as a whole a people obsessed with fitness and perfecting ones body, so nudity or open flesh was quite common a sight. He himself often wore little more than pants or similar limited clothing, and often wore an open chested shirt or vest the rest of the time. And he certainly did not cover his arms, blessed as one was by Izurdin. He noticed her and the bow all at once, paying about as much attention to her nude form as one might when taking in a marble statue of a woman holding a bow. He did not ignore he, looking, but not really overly interested or focused on her.

At her direction, he assumed her intent was to teach him some of the basics of bow usage, he took the bow in his right arm which was his more normal flesh arm. He had to adjust a few times to try to copy the positioning of her hand and her grip, but after moving about his fingers for a bit he felt he was close to her grip.

Next was the positioning of the legs and feet, which Crylon also tried to mimic. This reminded him a bit of his former combat training, though not exactly the same.

One foot forward, the other back, facing the target as such, turned as such. Legs, knees, feet. Following her direction he bent about, and took in a breath... And held... And then out. In, hold, and out. Turning at the waist like it was a axle to change his aim rather than moving the entire bow. Which worked for changing direction, but he was unsure how it would help with changing height.

He mimicked the motions, but was careful not to focus on pulling an arrow for fear he would summon another and loose it by accident. However soon enough Kopesha went and fetched an arrow, and fired it off. Using, to his discomfort, a chair as a target.

“I could make, to use as target...”

And she fired, striking the chair.

Taking his focus back to the bow Crylon reached for an arrow, suddenly pulling back another of the length of wood and metal which had been manifested by the bow. The third such arrow. He moved his chest, breathed in, angled by turning at the waist, pulled back the string and held it... Held... And released.

His arrow if nothing else went in the correct direction, but it missed the chair entirely to clatter to the floor after rebounding off a wall. That would chip the stucco...

“You know... If make hurt thing, I am one have fix.”

Letting out a large yawn another wave of tired struck him. For the moment he was pushing through, but he felt quite drained from his magic short as it had been. But then he was not all too skilled at the magic, so perhaps that was as much a factor as the length of his usage.

“Read aura, is make... Tired. Need rest soon.”

Kopesha snort-laughed at his comment about having to fix the chair, rolling her eyes as she walked around the pool. She picked up his arrow, happy to see he was able to fire in the correct direction. She also grabbed the chair she'd shot, carrying it draped across her back as she returned back over to him. She set the chair down between them, pulled her arrow out of the wood, setting both arrows on the table. She pointed down at the small hole the arrow had formed. "Is scar. Scar tell story. Tell story of you learn bow. Story no need fix. This scar no hurt no one. Not broken."

He announced that he was tired and needed to rest. She nodded at him, setting her bow down, getting dressed. "Practice more. I check when next we meet, Crylon." She smiled at him, "I come here from Sunberth. Terrible, smelly place. I not from there. I from sands of Eyktol. I am Chaktawe and my nice given meeting you."

She walked over to the pool, scooping up a handful of water. She brought it to her lips, sipping some softly, before offering the same to him. If he took it, she expected him to finish it. If he didn't she would return it back to the pool. "May Makutsi watch over you, may Brother Crow challenge you."

And with that, she grabbed her stuff, showing herself out so that her new friend might rest. It had been an eventful day. She should probably return to her tent before it got too late. Sunberth at night was an extremely dangerous place. But having access to this world was a treasure to be cherished. She would return again, and she would seek out Crylon when she did.

She left and wound through the outpost toward the Dovecote. There, she said a prayer of thanks to Xyna and to Eywaat for guiding her to this place. She spent some time helping clean up, not that there was so much to do as the keeper kept the Dovecote pristine. And then she returned back to Sunberth. And once on the other side, she also worked to help clean up there. She still didn't fully understand the teachings of this goddess, but she would pay respect to her nonetheless.

A Whole New World (Crylon)

Postby Crylon Stonecraft on September 24th, 2020, 12:55 am

At her odd explanation in order to wave away the damage to the chair Crylon looked with a confused frown at the odd woman. Struggling once more with common and cursing himself for his lack of finesse in its use Crylon nevertheless tried to make himself clear.

“You try, go shop, do same. Tell scar story. See if okay, shoot arrow in thing. Is think... Damage is damage. If own, do with thing own. I guest, not own. So if damage... Fix, replace. ”

“Scar person, tell story. But not scar purpose, avoid scar if can. And thing, scar, not same as person scar.”

As her request Crylon practice he simply nodded, acknowledging her words as she dressed and prepared to leave. He knew of Sunberth quite well, having been there before. In fact it was where he had met Kelski, and which had led to him joining the Meraki.

“I been Sunberth. Live there, time. Before leave, come city join Meraki.”

While the odd woman sipped at the pool water and bid farewell Crylon sat on one of the nearby chairs. It was quite comfortable, so he laid back, raising a single hand in a farewell wave.

He could tell the woman was speaking to him, but he found his eyes were growing quite heavy... The chair was pulling at him.

He blinked and found his eyes had been closed for more than a moment. He blinked again and the woman was gone. Then his eyes closed, and they stay closed as he drifted off to slumber.
