Alexander Of Zeltiva
Appearance
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Birthday: Day, Season, Year.
Birthplace: Zeltiva
Appearance: Alexander is bronze skinned with medium long curly brown hair and is clean shaven. He is 182 cm tall and weighs 80 kg. His body is of medium build and lean and muscular as the result of hard physical training and careful dieting. He has heterochromia iridis causing his eyes to have different colors, left eye brown, right eye green, he believes this to be Gnosis mark but it isn't. Alexander takes great pride in his physical appearance and will regularly take time to groom and bathe, including clipping his nails, shaving, washing and combing his hair. Normally he smells slightly of perfume from anointed oils he puts in his hair and rubs on his skin. He is quite handsome, but this is diminished by his prominent nose and bushy eyebrows. When in casual situations, and temperature permitting, Alexander usually wears a short sleeved white tunic with an elaborate floral pattern embodied in purple, a leather belt with a gold plated buckle and leather sandals. If it is too cold he will sometimes don a red cloak and white pants over his outfit.
Character Concept
Alexander believes himself to be the offspring of his beloved mother and one of the Gods, though he does not know which one. Determined to prove himself to his godly parent and gain their approval, he travels the world in search of opportunities to commit great deeds and gain glory. He believes that when he has proven himself worthy, he will shred his human body and ascend to the level of godhood. And so Alexander tries his hardest to act as befitting of both a great hero and a demigod. Although good at heart, he has a tendency to act arrogantly, patronizing and pompous due to his beliefs about his heritage and status as a hero. He is a strong believer that actions speak louder than words, thus he is often reckless and rash much to his own detriment.
Alexander is willing to converse with just about anyone despite race or creed. Not knowing exactly who his godly parents is, he tries to stay open minded, fearing that by judging specific worlds views or races he might offend his godly parent. And so despite being a hero, he doesn't usually have anything personal against the people and monsters that he slays, as they were created as the gods intended and are only a mean to an end. Despite his fixation with the gods, he isn't particular devout or observant of religious rituals, but he tries to respect all the gods in his own way, considering them his extended family.
As he travels he will try to make contact with the gods at their places of worship, hoping to either gain knowledge of who exactly his parent is, or be told in specifics what he must do to ascend to divinity.
Now here's the twist, Alexander isn't actually a demi god. He just believes himself to be so, because of his mothers indoctrination. He holds this belief so strongly that even if he was told to his face by an actual god that he wasn't of godly decent, he would believe that they were merely trying to deceive him or test him in some way and continue his quest unfazed.
Character History
If one wants to understand the story of Alexander one must start with his parents. Both of Alexanders parents were born in Zeltiva, his mother Olympias to a wealthy family with many connections in both trade and to the Administrative Committee of the Sailors' Guild. His father Phillip on the other hand was born into a family of fishermen, eventual managing to become a sailor on one of Olympias family's ships. The two met when Olympias accompanied her father on an inspection of the ship Philip was working on. They got to talking when Olympias father wasn't looking and took an instant liking to each other. Quickly they agreed to meet again in secret, knowing that their relationship would be frowned upon. So they met in town every time Phillip was in port, soon falling in love. They hid their romance the best they could until one day Olympias began showing signs of pregnancy's while Phillip were out to sea. It didn't take long for her family to find out and she was disowned.
Having to leave her family home with no belongings or prospects, one of her relatives took pity on her and rented her a small apartment for her to live in, as well as giving her a small allowance to live on. She waited in her new apartment for Phillip to come home, but he never did. The ship he had served on had been sunk in a storm. Olympias was overcome with despair and her mental health quickly deteriorated.
When Alexander was born, Olympias claimed to have seen a beam of light appearing in front of her. It told her that all was not lost, for her child were not Phillips, but instead granted to her by the gods. Should she raise him to be a great hero, they would give back to Olympias all she had lost. The proof of Alexanders divinity she claimed was in his different colored eyes. Already unstable Olympias accepted her vision and did her best to raise Alexander to be the best hero she could. Although poor the same relative that paid for Olympias apartment and food agreed to pay for rudimentary education for Alexander.
He would spend most of his early years being taught by a private tutor and closely watched by his mother. She would tell him stories of great heroes of times past, stories of the gods, and stories of his glorious destiny to come. Alexander would eagerly listen, becoming ever more convinced of his divinity.
When he was twelve he was finally allowed more freedom and started mingling with the other children of Zeltiva. It did not go well at first, there were many rumors about him and his mother. He was horribly teased and even more so when he tried hoarding his divinity over his fellow children. They did not take such claims lightly and Alexander would often get into fights. If he ever started to doubt his divinity he would come home to his mother that would reassure and dote on him and tell him of his impending greatness. Though he started to not mention his divinity in public and eventually managed to make a few friends.
When he became a teenager he started taking the preparation for his ambitions seriously. Figuring that he would need to be in good shape to slay monsters or defeat evil tyrants, he started training his body and doing menial labor. As soon as he could he enlisted with the Zeltiva city guard in order to learn how to handle weapons, and though he did learn a little most of his time was spend helping the older guards handling drunk sailors. Having saved his money from his many years of working, he finally decided to set out to meet his destiny at age 22 and bought the necessary equipment and supplies need for his journey. He said farewell to his mother and booked passage on a ship headed to the mainland, hoping to find great deeds to accomplish and hopefully some answers about his divine origin. Alexander first sets his sights Syliras, hoping to make contact with the cities renown knights in his quest for glory.
