Welcome to Gossamer's Cauldron!

November is the stupidest month to have a NaNo! It's honestly crazy busy for people in retail, college folks have finals, and the weather is turning dark and dingy so no one is wanting to do more than take a good nap in their spare time. Despite all that, you guys did really well. Several people tried, multiple people finished, and one person knocked it out of the park. These are the people I'm going to reward!

If you finished NaNo, I will allow you to pick FIVE objects of your choice (your PC must own them or be able to easily acquire them in thread) into my Cauldron and I will craft a magical item for you from them! You never know what is going to come out of this thing... and the more words you wrote the nicer the prize is going to be.

For example, you can use colored candles - which mean things - or scents, gemstones, written things like a poem, or even just simply random things like a misc feather you find on the ground! Just make sure its something you can get your hands on as a PC! You can use pre-existing magical items, or even dump in living things which have been done before... that poor cat!

I'll take some time to think on the items and put them together in my brain. Once I have them all crafted, I will post them in this thread and you can claim them in your own thread. Once claimed, you must let me know so I can add them to your SS threads.

In regards to your claiming thread, you'll need to write out a thread or a post within another thread, where you creatively dream you add your items to a magic cauldron and make the item yourself in your dream. Good luck and have fun with this.

Alric's Reward From The Cauldron!

Congrats on being the top winner of NaNo and killing it with over 80+K words!

You added an egg, a dew-covered stone rose picked at dawn, a rough and much-repaired cloak, a flaming log and ash from your fire, and some of your blood.

In your dream, you add these things to the cauldron. The ingredients all melt together and form a liquid mercury-like substance that you are able to stir all night. When the cauldron has done its work, the liquid will shrink down, as if draining from the bottom, but reform into a grey mottled bodysuit that will always fit you whatever your body shape is.

While wearing this suit, which has long sleeves (though they can be rolled up in the summer) you will be warm and comfortable, or cool and refreshed depending upon the season. Wearing the suit will nourish you the equivalent of a small meal a day so that you will never completely starve. The suit itself makes you immune to normal fire, and the damage of any small bladed weapon such a dagger. You can still be struck as normal from any other weapons, such as swords, maces, and high-velocity weapons like arrows or stones from a slingshot. This suit also grants you a bonus to your climbing skill. It will boost you one level in climbing to the bottom rung of the next level in attempting a climb. So for example, if you have a 5xp in Climbing, you will jump automatically to a 26xp in climbing if you attempt a climb while wearing the suit. If you have a 74 in climbing, it will automatically boost you to 76 in climbing if you attempt a climb while wearing it. Once you have reached Mastery in climbing, the suit will allow you to cling suspended to anything (tree, wall, cliff, etc) you've attempted to climb while wearing the suit with no effort and no fatigue.

Moritz's Reward From The Cauldron!

Grats on finishing NaNo and you added the following things to the Cauldron.

A Twilight star, fresh sand from a Sykan beach, a lump of Okomo hair, cold iron tiger hook sword infused with soulmist, and finally sea water from the Suvan Sea.

As you add these ingredients to the Cauldron in your dreams, you see them blend together at the bottom of the cauldron in a swirl of tiny bluish-green particles. It's as if all the items were torn apart and separated into micro-ingredients. Instead of liquid in the cauldron, the bottom is filled with a sort of kinetic sand that takes on a life of its own. The Twilight star is the only thing that does not dissolve and instead seems to shrink into itself and becomes roughly the size of your thumb.

You will feel compelled to reach in with your non-dominant hand as if attempting to dig through the sand to see what's left. When you do this, the Twilight Star will embed itself in the back of your non-dominant hand while the kinetic sand will swirl up your arm to adhere to your arm like a second soft flexible layer of skin. The sand will then sink into your body and become one with it.

You will notice that while the Twilight Star is always visible, the gauntlet the sand forms is not. It seems to recede and retract back into the twilight star when unwanted or unneeded.

Upon concentrating on it, the sand will emerge from your skin and Twilight Star and form a blueish-green gauntlet that will effectively protect your arm from any sort of cuts and punctures. At will, a twin pair of blades about eighteen inches long will slide from the back of the gauntlet becoming an extension of your arm. They end in hooked blades and have retained the soulmist permanent properties.

You will also notice immediately that the color of the twilight star will always reflect your mood... scared, angry, curious... and if your body and any part of this arm along with it are submerged into the sea, your emotional state will get broadcasted to all the sea creatures within a two hundred foot radius.

That means if you become scared, the star will take on a fearful color, and all the sea life around you will become fearful and skittish. You will have to experiment with your emotions and note the color of the twilight star to determine what the various colors mean. If you are happy, the sea creatures around you will be happy. If you are scared, most of the sea creatures will be scared. In this way, the user can protect themselves from attacks such as hungry sharks by being scared and thus scaring the sharks away.

In addition to the transmission of emotions, the Twilight Star in the back of your hand will glow enough to illuminate you in a 20-foot radius if you raise your arm up towards the sky and let it be unencumbered. To activate this all you must do is will the light into being.

This gauntlet will only come off at your death. It will exist on you with your okomo form and human form. The Okamo form can utilize the gauntlet's abilities just like the human can, though the blades cannotbe summoned while wearing the gauntlet in the Okomo Form.

Tazrae's Reward From The Cauldron!

Congrats for tackling the ever challenging task of Nano and succeeding!

You added the shed iridescent skin of one of your Mussurana snakes, a Protea Flower from your own garden, one of your Ixam's emerald scales, a fist-sized stone of Chrysocolla retrieved from Kihala's Shrine and an orange candle to represent joy, energy, education, strength, attraction and stimulation.

As you dream, you add these things to the cauldron. The ingredients all melt together and form an churning iridescent substance that you are able to stir all night. As you stir, you are bombarded with images of the jungle, of leaping and climbing the tangle of trees. You see images of diving into the river and tackling a large fish. You see images of weaving and dancing your way through the jungle underbrush. All of these leave you with a feeling of great freedom and escape from the confines of society. When the cauldron has done its work, the glistening liquid will shrink down, slowly at first, only to eventually reform into a single iridescent scale attached to a loop of tightly woven snakeskin.

Upon retrieval from the cauldron, the scale may be worn as a necklace. When first worn, an amazing experience will occur. The scale will flare with brilliant iridescent light and painlessly embed itself into your flesh in the spot between the base of your neck and just above your breastbone. It becomes seamless with your skin and the snakeskin loop follows suit. Whenever you focus on the images you experienced in the dream; those of the jungle and the freedom you felt, a soft clicking sound will be heard as the scale seemingly unfolds into countless other scales that spread across your body. As the scales quickly unfold and spread, your body will undergo a remarkable transformation. Your limbs will painlessly reshape themselves as will the rest of your body. You will fall to all fours while growing a tail; your neck lengthening and your head widening and elongating. Within a matter of a few seconds, you will completely transform into a jungle Ixam much like your companion, Bree.

The transformation and resulting feel of the new form is completely unlike that of a Kelvic. You do not share the core natural instincts of the new form although you do benefit from many of the senses as well as other aspects of the Ixam. Such a feeling of freedom and wonder can become addicting.

The size of this form is equivalent to that of a young adult: 9' long, 5.5' tall and 3 feet wide at 750 lbs.

You may choose your Ixam form's coloring.

You have the carrying capacity of a Jungle Ixam for your size as well as all of the other allowed carrying, pulling or load weights listed in Lore.

You have large claws and jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth.

Climbing is effortless as an Ixam and equivalent to an Expert level skill for the sake of maneuvering through the jungle or similar environments.

You will find that, being cold-blooded, basking in the sun or cooling yourself in cold water will be felt greater than as a human.

Fresh meat will taste so much better than if you were in human form and vegetables will have no real taste at all.

You will see, smell and taste things with greater vibrancy than you would as a human. Everything you experience is a bit brighter, more defined and literally tickles your senses.

Your agility will be heightened to a level comparable to a wolf as Jungle Ixam are often viewed as the wolves of the jungle. Equivalent to an Expert level in dodging and balance.

You can speak with your own voice that can be understood by Bree and other humanoids. You can also be understood, at a more basic level, by other non-sentient Jungle Ixam as well as understand them; at least their intent. You can hear your own voice as you speak but to the Ixam, it comes across as a series of clicks, hisses, growls and chirps.

Any possessions, clothing, gear, etc., will not change with you. So be wary of this when transforming and take precautions.

You will be able to sense the movements and basic intentions of other Jungle Ixam who may at some point be considered a part of a pack that you are also a member of. As Jungle Ixam are pack-oriented, they tend to function almost like a single entity. Through their vocalizations and spatial awareness in regards to one another, they are excellent pack hunters.

Skills or magic that require a fully functioning human form will be difficult if not impossible for you to exercise while being an Ixam.

Finally, by taking the form of the Jungle Ixam, you will place yourself at a specific place in the jungle food chain. Crocodiles, large constrictor snakes jungle cats and many others can pose a great threat to you while in the form of a Jungle Ixam. While you possess many of the senses and physical traits of the Ixam, you have the mind and instincts of a human. This has the potential to cause even the slightest gap in reacting to a threat as human thought tends to override natural instinct. Your increased size and agility make you formidable, but to many other predators in Falyndar, you are a potential meal. Big and agile as you may be, you are not the biggest or the fastest in the jungle. This is primarily why most Jungle Ixam operate in packs; not only for success in hunts but for protection.
