A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on January 25th, 2011, 6:17 pm

Season of Winter, Day 60, 510 AV

Jaelyn gave a soft sigh as she walked the streets of Syliras. Raynard had told her to go out and have a bit of fun, that even a Knight shouldn't devote all their time to training and work, but she had no clue what to do. Raynard had forbidden her from visiting the Stone Gardens, or anywhere she could train, and he had even told her not to take her sword with her.

It felt wrong to be walking around without her sword, and just as wrong to not be working on her skills. It was little more than a year until she could become a full Knight, and it felt like she was still lacking terribly in skills. She was adequate with a sword, though she could definitely be better, but her focus so far had left her other skills lacking and she had to work twice as hard to make sure they were ready.

Giving another faint sigh she stopped and looked around at where her wandering feet had taken her. Finding herself in front of the Welcome Center, within a short distance of the Main Gate, she turned her gaze outside the city. Maybe a walk outside would be useful... she might be able to find a way to do some practice out there.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on January 25th, 2011, 6:35 pm

Jokor shivered in the cold as he stepped back outside,he pulled out his coins and began counting the miza he had left, maybe he could get a new shirt and pants out of it maybe even a pair of boots. The ones he was wearing right now where almost so worn they where barely resembling clothes.
Seeing that he had 1 gold coin and 4 silver ones and some coppers he smiled. If the prices where the same here then they where where he came from, he could be warm tonight. If he could find the store anyway.

Not wanting to search the entire city for a simple clothing store he grabbed the first passerby by the arm. Coincidentally it was a rather young woman only a few inches taller then him.Though since Jokor was quite short that wasn't that hard.
"Hey do you know a cheap clothing's store around here? I am new in town and I don't wanna spend the rest of the day searching for one of those."
He just kept his grip on her not wanting her just to ignore him and waited for an answer.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on January 25th, 2011, 6:57 pm

Before Jaelyn could complete her thought she felt a hand on her arm. Turning to see who would grab her so suddenly she was surprised to find a short, very scruffy looking, thin boy. Assuming he was a beggar, she had started to reach for a pocket to give him a gold Miza, but paused when he asked his question.

She could certainly understand why he would want new clothes, but she doubted he had the money to purchase such things judging by the state of his current clothes. Which meant it was her duty to help him, because no one should have to wear such poor excuse for clothing during the Winter.

Giving a faint smile to the boy she nodded in response to his question, "Yes, I know somewhere nearby. Let me show you to it," she turned and started to walk, assuming the boy would come along as he still held to her arm, "I'm Jaelyn, by the way."

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on January 25th, 2011, 7:29 pm

Jokor was initially surprised that the woman didn't glare at him and tell him to bugger of, but instead gave him a faint smile and answered him, heck she even wanted to show him where it was!
Seeing no other reason to hold her arm anymore he let her go and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"I'm Jaelyn, by the way." Jokor just nodded as she mentioned her name. "You can call me Jokor if you want, so if you don't mind wan't to tell where most shops and stuff are? Like I said I am new in town and I don't want to waste a day or more trying to get to know the city."
He followed her, trying to mentally map the way they where walking.
"So," jokor started still rubbing himself to keep him warm as he did. "You aren't a stuck up bitch that ignores people who look like me. How does that come?" Jokor threw it out in the open, probably offending a few people that heard him but he didn't really care. besides walking in silence always irked him a bit.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on January 25th, 2011, 9:43 pm

"A pleasure to meet you Jokor," Jaelyn said with a nod of her head to the boy as she led the way along one of the lanes to Stormhold Citadel, "And I wouldn't mind at all. Most of the shops are located in the third tier, which is where we're going, and anything else you want can usually be found down at the bazaar in the fourth tier."

Jokor's next comment caught Jaelyn completely by surprise, and she almost tripped and fell on her face from the shock. She'd never heard such coarse language from someone who looked to be around her age. Turning to look at him, she paused in her shocked exclamation as she saw him rubbing his arms against the cold. Here she had been ready to lecture this poor boy, who probably couldn't help the rough upbringing he had had.

Quickly undoing her cloak she wrapped it around his shoulders and started to fasten it around him as she replied, "I am a Squire in the Syliran Knights. There are many traits we aspire towards; generosity, patience, integrity, tolerance, and honor. I doubt you could find a Knight that would simply ignore you, especially when you ask for something so simple," finishing fastening the cloak around Jokor she gave a small smile to him.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on January 25th, 2011, 10:05 pm

Jokor tried to memorize most of the locations where they where though those tiers she was talking about didn't mean anything to him.
"What are those tiers you are talking about anyway? never heard people talk about them before."
When Jaelyn almost tripped over her own feet Jokor couldn't help but snicker a bit, It was a funny sight.
Jokor widened his eyes in surprise as the girl unfastened her cloak and draped it over his shoulders quickly fastening while she began to speak.
"I am a Squire in the Syliran Knights. There are many traits we aspire towards; generosity, patience, integrity, tolerance, and honor. I doubt you could find a Knight that would simply ignore you, especially when you ask for something so simple," She gave him a small smile as she finished fastening the cloak.
Jokor just looked in confusion as she began talking about things like honor and tolerance, though he made a mental note to be carefull around her, she was one of those knight people.
"I dun know half those words you just listed, but I know striving for honor is a stupid thing, gets you killed fairly easy in my experience."He fingered a bit with the cloak. "Thanks for the cloak though." A small smile made its way on his face when he finally wasn't freezing for the most part.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on January 25th, 2011, 10:29 pm

For a moment Jaelyn thought about lecturing Jokor about the true meaning of honor, but that could certainly wait until after she had gotten him some decent clothes. So she just settled on a simple, "You are most welcome."

Standing up she continued walking towards Stormhold, answering Jokor's earlier question as she walked, "The tiers are the different levels of Stormhold, where most everyone in Syliras lives and works. Third tier is where we're going first, and is the level here on the ground," she motioned with her hand at the entrance they were approaching, "Below that is fourth tier, where the bazaar is located, along with storage and shelters for emergencies. Above third tier are the second and first tiers, which are for use by the government of Syliras, and the Syliran Knights."

Jokor just shrugged and continued to walk, listening at her explanation of the tier system.
"That is simple." Jokor answered after she was done with her explanation. While he didn't have a solid grasp on what a goverment actually did, he figured it wasn't to different in structure from a normal gang, the most influential persons stuffed their pockets while the lowest members where only allowed to pick from the leftovers.
He walked with her for a few moments in silence not really knowing what to say now.
"So how far is it to the store?" Jokor threw out, more to get again a conversation going then anything else.

OOC: maybe with your post we arrive at the shop? I don't know a lot to say anymore right now :)

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on January 26th, 2011, 3:11 pm

Jaelyn nodded in agreement to Jokor's statement as she led the way into Stormhold. In silence the pair walked through the hallways and corridors, taking a couple turns as they went. When Jokor asked how far it was to the store, Jaelyn turned and motioned with her hand just down the street, "It's right there."

The sign indicated the shop was named "An Elegant Weave" and with a wave of her hand, indicating Jokor should follow her, Jaelyn entered the store. It certainly didn't look like a cheap place to buy clothing, with several beautiful and fancy outfits on prominent display, and half the store was dedicated to the selling of fabric. Heading to the half the store that was full of clothes she began looking over what was there, "We will want to get you a tunic and trousers, nice warm wool probably, and maybe a cape to help against the cold?" she glanced at Jokor in her cloak, "Unless you wish to keep my cloak, but it seems a bit too long for you."

Jokor just looked at Jaelyn as if she lost her mind when he saw the fancy shop.
"I don't think I can afford anything from that store, looks like the stuff its made from is already to expensive for me." She didn't head his remark and just went inside anyway, Jokor just shook his head, oh well, maybe he could try to get the price down a bit and at least he wouldn't be buying crap.
"We will want to get you a tunic and trousers, nice warm wool probably, and maybe a cape to help against the cold?" Jaelyn began to talk as she walked to the clothes racks, giving him a quick glance.
"Unless you wish to keep my cloak, but it seems a bit too long for you." Jokor looked down at his feet at that remark seeing that the cloak was dragging a bit over the ground.
He shrugged at that remark and unclasped the cloak and shook it of before throwing it back to her.
"I'll buy one for myself, If its to long it hooks behind everything when you are running." He made his way to the clothes racks and began digging around for a decent cloak in his price range, it shouldn't be that hard to find right?
