15 Summer 522
As usual as Moritz woke, there was a heady moment where he was both awake and asleep. Neither and both. Letting his mind wander for a bit in that state he let his body go free, until finally some odd distraction took his attention and woke him up. Opening his eyes he silently rolled out of bed, making his morning ablutions and getting dressed in his button up suit as usual. It was one of the few constant things he kept on him, both as it was a gift from a former mentor and combat master, and useful for his shifting.
Heading out the door barefoot he began to stretch, letting the morning sun wash down on him and experiencing the hot wet air of Syka. As he bent down to touch one toe and then turned to do the same with the other however he was interuptted by a sound. A single loud caw, and then the next thing he knew a mass of feathers was crashing into his back and knocking him over onto his hands.
Puzzled the Kelvic turned to look and saw that the same crow was back, a few feathers bent a bit from the impact but otherwise none the worse for wear. Apparently Moritz was a soft landing, as was the ground around him.
Wondering what the crow wanted, not often directly interacting with him but just keeping about, he helped the bird right itself and brushed it a bit to remove the dust and grit from its body. "Fine, fine!"
Apparently telling Moritz he was fine the Kelvic stopped his ministrations, only to see the crow hop about again looking down at the ground. Had it dropped something? Looking up the Kelvic tried to figure out where the thing had come from. One moment there was nothing near, no one close to him, and the next... As is appearing from nowhere the bird was there, making a noise and colliding with him as if mid flight. How had the bird got there? Had he just been distracted, or had there been some trick to sneaking up and appearing as he had? Or perhaps the bird was just sneaky...
Regardless Moritz looked about on the ground, trying to see what the bird had dropped, when he suddenly saw a glint of something metallic. Without thinking he pointed at it, only for the bird to snatch it up in its beak. After flapping its wings a bit and hopping about it returned to Moritz, holding out its beak and offering the thing to the Kelvic. He wanted him to have it?
Carefully Moritz took the thing, finding it to be a small round... Coin? Though not of any money he had seen before, it did look like a metal disc or maybe coin. It seemed to have some marking on it, as well as a small whole where it could be threaded.
"I can have it? Where did you get it?"
As if pondering the crow tilted its head, looking at Moritz as it hopped about. After a chime it spoke, looking at the coin, then Moritz, then out to sea. "Yours. Your. Found, water."
Water? Being on the coast finding the coin thing among water did not narrow it down much, so he tried to press further, but besides a few odd words Moritz did not understand he got nothing more from the crow. "Found. Water, and stone. Water, and stone." He was unsure if that was a place, its name, or perhaps a description, but the oddly talking bird seemed unwilling to speak further. Having explained things the bird then turned and flew off, alighting to the top of his house and beginning to preen on its bent feathers.
"Well... Uh... Thanks then."
