55 Spring 523

Heading out from the deep smell of the city, Moritz found himself on some rockier ground. Not quite the same as Lhavit, Moritz still felt more at home in this place with uneven rocky soil and land compared to the smelly city center with its massive crush of people. From what he had been told he was near the Dust Bed Ridge, though not were the actual ancient cemeteries and such were. Having been there or in the area before, and having been given simple directions, he did not have too much trouble finding the spot. Particularly since the rest of the land near where he was going was barren or wrecked buildings barely standing.

Where Moritz ended up going he saw quite a few people coming and going, people bringing stuff that would be used for building he assumed... Finally he arrived at what seemed to be the edge of his land, his acre which was marked off with some fencing that seemed new seemed to have been mostly cleared. Moritz recalled Goldfinger mentioning an old building being there before... Some kind of... Summer home? He was also unsure what that was just as much as Goldfinger. Did it mean the person only used it in the summer? Or they had multiple? Or was it some kind of design style? He was unsure if it was any of those, but decided it did not matter if it did not affect his house to come. Besides a few stone pillars, nothing else seemed to be standing he could see on the surface. When he got close to the center of the people moving Moritz saw the man who seemed to be in charge, and he assumed he was the builder.

"Ah, hello. I'm Moritz. And you are..."

Not looking up right away, the man kept talking to other people for another chime, before finally turning to meet the Kelvics eye. "Ah, your the one eh? Names John. All we need is your final okay before we get going. We've cleared the land around here where we are building, marked off the the edges of your property... Left that bit over there, as it seems usable, but tore down the rest as it wasn't worth keeping. Follow me."

Without looking back the man charged off, moving along and pointing out spots marked off in the dirt and with small wooden posts marking the edges of rooms roughly. As far as he could see there was no real blueprint, just masses of material and people and the main builder in charge eyeballing things so to speak. "Right, so I heard what you wanted, and how much you can spend. So walk with me, and I'll point out what I'm seeing. Just keep up, and it'll go well, and we can get building already."

With another nod Mortiz followed after, listening and watching as he painted a picture with words and sticks much clearer than a drawing would likely be to the Kelvic who had never built anything.

As he walked along John pointed out things to Moritz, keeping it simple so even the Kelvic who had not built so much as a dog house could keep up. "Alright this part here, I see as the front area so to speak. I figure we could put a common area here to use for that purpose, before letting people further in. Some benches and such for seating, you know. A nice welcome area, which lets people split out. Of on each side, there will be a hallway leading into a pair of rooms on either side of the main welcome common area, so a total of four rooms with each pair sharing a hallway and bathroom. From there, you'd head through the back of the common area and come further in.. Come along this way... Which would lead into the training area."

Here John paused, letting Moritz examine all that he had seen. The design seemed basic, but also suited his purposes. The welcome area seemed a sort of hub, with rooms off to the sides rather than connected further in... Which also meant people could come to the rooms without having to pass through the training area. A good idea. There would also apparently be some seating here. Perhaps if he got a few small tables, it would serve as a eating area for himself or at least one or two people, if not serving as a full dining room. But then he would only be serving a person or two, so he did not really need a fully functioning dining area...

From there John continued on to describe the training area, which seemed to have the stone support posts from the old building integrated in. Most of it was new, but that part at least and possible some of the foundation would remain... "Right so here would be the training area. Some nice mats or such to soften falls to cover this area... Maybe some shelving or racks for training weapons... That sort of thing. We'll work out the specifics once we finish the structure itself and see what it can hold."

Nodding along Moritz confirmed he was following, and listened as the man progressed further onto a few of the almost final details. "On this side here will be the kitchen, a small but simple one, should more than suit your needs. On the opposite side will be your cottage, a nice one by most measures, with a small attached bath. And if you look over here... Out the back end of the training room, will be a small covered patio or deck with some seating and the like."

Nodding along further Moritz guessed along with eating in the common entrance area someone could also eat out here on the back deck with a view... Or perhaps he could have some seating for eating and the like in his room.

"It all sounds good, and like you have it all worked out. I'm glad it could all get done within my budget."

With a grin and a nod John took a few steps back towards the front of the work site. "Well good then. We can get going. Based on my current schedule... We should finish around the end of the season. So it might be move in ready by the last of Spring, or 1st of Summer maybe." With that he seemed to dismiss Moritz, ready to get to work and not wanting the Kelvic getting in the way of it.

91 Spring 523

Having waited quite a good bit of time, Moritz was finally ready to purchase his house. In the time since he had seen the first worksite and groundbreaking, he had gone by the place a few times. While making sure to not get in the way he had checked on the places progress, and seeing how it would all shape up. He had also gone by Goldfingers a few times to fill out some paper work, and to make some payments.

Rather than hauling out close to five thousand gold mizas all at once, he had made several smaller payments of a few hundred to five hundred or so gold Mizas a visit, keeping his days spaced out and a bit random. Technically he had a magic item that let him store all of his money at once, but since it was Sunberth he wanted to keep that a secret and so pretended like he was handing over all of the money he had on him each time he came by. Plus he felt like there was less risk of carrying around apparent smaller sums than a huge sum all at once on the final day. Today would be the final payment, and once he made that he would be fully in the clear. Likewise he had gotten a message the night before that John and his workers had finished the day before, and for him to see Goldfinger the next day to work things out.

Coming into the familiar waiting room, Moritz headed inside. Since he had an appointment once he let the receptionist know he was there he did not have to wait long before being brought back to see the man in charge. Passing past several locked doors Moritz eyes as always pondered what was behind them before moving on to see Goldfinger. Inside his room the man was smiling and waiting for Moritz, several papers and things spread out across his desk. "Moritz, right on time. So, ready to make this official?"

With a small grin of excitement himself Moritz nodded back to Goldfinger, glad to finally be finishing all of this and having the property properly his.

"Yes. Its been most of a season, but I'm glad I can soon move in and that the place will be ready and mine."

Smiling and nodding along, it seemed like Goldfinger was listening along but Moritz wondered if it wasn't true he was just happy to have the money and he was a good actor in truth. "Right, well all we need is your final payment, and to sign a few things, and the property, land, and buildings on it will be yours full and clear. That will be... 637 gold mizas, and 5 silver mizas."

With that made clear Moritz pulled out the allotted amount of funds, having to then wait for Goldfinger to count his way through it all until he had confirmed it was all there.

Right then, just read over this, detailing the parts and such and costs, and sign on the line here... And also on this paper here, and here on this one... And you should be good.

In the end the property, land, and building process had cost a total of 4,637 gold mizas, and 5 silver mizas. It was most of Moritz savings, but he hoped it would make a proper home... And once he got back to it he would then be ready with a piece of wood taken from a window in Lhavit, which would be placed in his new home to make it an Arch structure...

With a smile Moritz signed on the various papers, waited for Goldfinger to confirm all was in order, before the man finally grinned and stood up to shake Moritz hand. "Alright, its all official. You have paid me all that is due, so it is all properly yours. Though, if you ever want something else built, just let me know. Maybe I'll convince a favor out of you yet... Keep it in mind, okay?"

In response Moritz nodded along, but in truth had no plan to do so. Certainly not any time soon. If anything this place was more than he needed, and he would be focusing on the new place and caring for it as his mother had Infinity back in Lhavit... It was a serious thing, but he planned to do it right.

A Home Found II

Having finished at Goldfingers and having properly transferred the rights to him full and clear, Moritz headed out to see his new home. While he was not planning to move in until tomorrow since it would take some time to move his possessions along to his new home, he still wanted to come today and get things moving. Namely, he wanted to look through the final structure, and set into motion it being an Arch structure.

Heading towards the front he once more passed by the simple wooden fencing that served as a marker for the edge of his land. Going from there he headed towards the only structure on it, the front end sitting near the middle of the plot and back end closer to the edge. Heading inside he saw the front area had been finished, with some seating and such and some odd but nice paintings on the wall. Unsure who had painted them or where they had come from Moritz passed onward, heading into the more important part... The training area.

This bit he would be seeing a lot of, and spending a good bit of time inside of. Looking closely he saw it had been all done properly, and even had some things John had not mentioned before. Along with the racks of wooden weapons there were also some targets where archery could be practiced, and some dummies for practicing combat. There was also a few stacked sets of thick cloth armor far sparring and softening blows.

Heading back into the common area he went to each wing of bedrooms, quickly looking inside the simple rooms to find the beds and things inside. If needed they could be improved later with some nicer furniture, but since he currently had no other guests there was no rush for it. These along with their bathrooms were all more or less the same, and so he passed on back through the common area to the training room.

From there he headed into the kitchen, finding the cookware and equipment he would need for making meals properly. Currently it had not been used and was clean, but he did not doubt before long it would all be a mess and smell of freshly cooked meals.

Turning towards the back of the structure he saw the back porch or deck, a covering over the top and some short walls making it a nice place to go in all but the worst weather... It also had a nice sea breeze coming in at the moment making the air fresher, certainly fresher than the burning clouds of rankness in Sunberth proper... Though perhaps it would not be as nice when the wind was blowing out to sea and carrying that rankness.

Lastly he moved back inside an to the final connecting door, finding himself in a decently appointed one room cottage. It had most all he would need to get by, though he planned to use the rest of the structure as well. A bed, a place to cook albeit simpler than the kitchen, along with tables and chairs for sitting and eating. Through that was one final door for his own private bathroom, with a small tub for bathing and other ablutions.

Having gone over the entire thing Moritz finally went into his pack and took out the piece of window sill from Lhavit. He had told John to leave a spot open for it to be placed, explaining it was symbolic and a thing from his home town that he wanted to have be the last piece to be placed in his new home. John being sensible had also left a hammer and some nails on the table, the hammer to be retrieved later.

Placing the last bit of wood into the open spot on a windowsill Moritz took the hammer and nails and silently pounded the nails in to affix the wood to the structure.

At first he felt nothing, but after a few moments wait Moritz felt a sudden connection, and a burst of happiness and excitement. It reminded himself of being a young child awakening in the morning to find a new day. After that the building grew quiet, perhaps focusing on spreading itself outward, and Moritz passed back a smile and happy thoughts.

With that Moritz headed to the bed, tired from the days events. Tomorrow he would head back to the Drunken Fish and bring all of his things here, officially checking out of the place and moving into his new home.
