Appearance: Coming in at 6' and 160 lbs, Willis is tall by Konti standards, but short by Akalak standards. To be fair other than his height he looks like he is only in his early teens despite actually being older, which may mean he still has room to grow as he matures. Still with his mixed Konti and Akalak heritage as an Akontak it is unclear how much longer he will continue growing for or how tall he will grow.
With skin a dark shade of cyan, white hair, and pale gold colored eyes he tends to attract attention among non-Akalak. Of course with his contrasting Konti features he does not quite fit even among Akalak.
Having a mix of features from both the Konti and Akalak Willis has gills just as a Konti would allowing him to breath underwater, along with common traits of a Akalak including their special inner eyelid allowing infravision.
Other than his coloration his general build, size, and structure seems to more closely resemble a Konti which gives him a slightly more androgynous appearance than the more commonly rugged Akalak male. Due to his age it is also unclear if this will change in time, or if he will never be a truly rugged adult.

Character Concept Being an Akontak, Willis Efram is home to two souls, both sharing residence in the single body. Considering each other their brother and best friend, the two could not imagine being apart.
Willis(light personality): Willis for his part is rather straightforward. Honest, to the point, and often interested in the world around him and learning new things. He tries to be kind to others, help when he can, and protect those he cares about. He is however at times a bit distractable, and can lose himself in some new topic or idea without realizing. He also has a deep interest in anything about magic, and if given the chance will ask many questions of anyone when it seems they are open to talking.
However not having had much chance to discuss the topic prior to arriving in Syka other than a few safety tips his understanding of it is limited to what he has worked out on his own, and his own almost instinctive grasping of his own djed within him. It is not doing the magic itself that thrills him, nor a rush from using more, but rather the idea of understanding himself and the world around him along with its magical inner workings that brings glee to his eyes.
A few words to describe Willis are studious, kind, and an optimist.
He loves to learn, is freely kind and friendly to others, and perhaps sees the world a bit more positively than others. In his experience things often work out if he puts in a good effort, and so he does not see many a task as impossible, just something he has to work towards. He sees his brother as a good person, but one that at times must be reigned in, and who can sometimes get a bit out of hand. Still in the end he loves his brother, and would go to the end of the world to help him.
Efram('dark' personality): Efram is in one word, a prankster. Not openly malicious, his idea sessions with Willis for pranks often have to be reigned in by his brother when they end up going a bit too far as his other side is quick to point out. Still nothing brings joy to his face like making a good joke, or playing a prank on someone. Still he has rules about them, and so he keeps himself from doing anything that might harm someone or their property... But other than that he is quite free with them.
Part of this is out of respect for the agreement between Willis and Efram, and part of it is just because Efram is not truly a bad person but simply someone with an odd sense of humor. Only those he deems enemies would truly be in any risk, and at that point it is less of a prank and more of Efram doing what he thinks he must.
Another part of Efram is that he likes to exaggerate his actions. Overacting, being excessive, and putting on a show, is another thing that he finds humorous. This tends to be taken in a more positive light than his pranks, as simply being one who likes to put on a performance. He particularly likes it when others play along, even when he is being so exaggerated or excessive. He can be quite playful, and is often the first to jump into something needing doing.
Some kinder words to describe him might be decisive, friendly, and realistic. Once he decides to do something he follows through, and feels no qualms about doing what he deems to be right. He also tries to see the world as it is, and cares deeply for his brother who seems to see things a bit more cheerily. He sees Willis as someone he at times needs to protect, and is not hesitant to put in the hard work to do so.
Like Willis Efram also has an instinctive grasp of his djed, but sees magic more as a means to an end than something to study just for the sake of it. He takes it serious in practice, and tries to improve to better himself and his brother's chance to get out of a bad situation, not out of an inherent drive to learn. Still he is a planner, and thinks things through whether plotting out a prank or using his djed, and so is not one to use it flippantly or without care.
Character History
Secret :
Willis Efram was born a slave in Ravok. Of course growing up he did not know this, being treated quite well and living a relatively nice life as he grew. Clearly his owner, a member of the Ebonstryfe tasked with watching over him, had plans for the youth. However it seemed he had no plans to enact them until he had grown, other than the normal religious teachings of Rhysol in Ravok.
Willis for his part did not really care for this, and found no interest in such boring teachings at such a young age. Instead he liked to play, but being who he was he did not often get into trouble. He spent most of his time with the woman he was told was his mother, a Konti by the name T'ana. She raised him from a baby, and was one of the few people he saw other than his owner. A healer and a hypnotist, she was a strong believer in helping people, and only used her magic to help people deal with their mental trauma.
Growing up he was never mistreated, abused, left hungry, and was always cared for. This did not really change until around the age of 7 years old, when his brother Efram arose. Quickly the two boys in one body became the best of friends, and would often talk back and force in their internal monologue without anyone else being the wiser.
Efram, being who he was, tended to act out and question things a bit more. Once he arose he started asking many more questions, much to the annoyance of his owner. One day Willis Efram found the man practicing his magic, Voiding, and so asked some questions about it. Clearly not thinking much of it the man gave some basic details about it, and then shooed the boy away.
Much to his surprise when Willis Efram tried to figure out the magic, he took to it almost instinctively. He had a general awareness of himself, and following even those vague instructions the man had given him he quickly enough learned how to use the magic by working his djed in the correct fashion. None of it was taught, or fully understood, the boy just came to the action as if on instinct.
The Ebonstryfe man, even more surprised to see the boy using magic, quickly dragged him off to a place Willis Efram had not been to before. He did not quite remember what happened there. Some kind of test. Or experiment. Or perhaps just the man trying to figure out the boy. Afterward all he recalled was pain, and a sense of loneliness. When he was returned home T'ana cared for him and his aching and limp body. He never knew what exactly they were trying to do, but afterwards he found he could also use Projection, though whether that was intended or not he never knew.
It was at that point T'ana acted. Worried for what might come next for the boy once he recovered, and what the Ebonstryfe had planned for the boy she loved and raised, she confessed the truth to the Akontak. She was not truly his mother, but had known his mother and been friends with her. She had made a promise to protect Willis Efram, but now he needed to leave and go to Mura to find safety. Still the Akontak youth loved her as a mother, and even if she was not his mother by birth he still considered her his mother who raised and loved him. For some reason she would not say anything more of his parentage, perhaps trying to protect him, but he was unsure from what. Or perhaps she was trying to protect his parents, if they were still out there and alive.
As a healer she had promised to never harm anyone, but at that moment she knew what she had to do. Driving herself nearly mad in the process, she used her magic, and accosted the Ebonstryfe man, forcing him to bring Willis Efram to freedom and to get him out of Ravok. In the end he did manage to get the Akontak boy out, but died shortly after sending him off on a caravan for his betrayal even if it was not his choice. T'ana, half mad at that point, also ended up leaving the boy behind, and ended up being killed once others found out what she had done.
By then though Willis Efram was on his way to the coast, and seeing the ocean for the first time. Escaping into the water where others could not follow he fled, keeping to the waters and moving down the coastline night by night. He slept where he could, ate what he could, and in the end ended up in Nyka. Eventually and after nearly a year of leaving Ravok he found passage to Mura from Nyka, by then he was almost nine years old.
Arriving on Mura the Konti cared for him, and explained what they could of his past. However besides knowing of his adopted mother T'ana they did not know further of his parentage. He stayed there for several years until he was twelve, living among the Konti isle and among the Konti. He spent that time learning a bit about the magic he could use, about his people the Konti and Akalak, and of his own nature as an Akontak.
He also spent time playing, making pranks, and of Efram otherwise making himself a nuisance when he could. Surrounded by his mothers sisters, and the other young Konti, he never quite felt like he fit in.
In the end when he was twelve they sent him away, to Riverfall to learn more of his Akalak side of the family before he was to undergo a trial at 15. By the time he arrived in Riverfall he was nearly 13 years old. There he managed to see a bit more similarity in the Akalak, but like with Mura he did not quite seem to fit in either there. Still he underwent training, learned a bit about combat, and when he was 15 underwent his trial with several other Akalak youth against a glassbeak.
He managed to survive that as well, and when it was time to learn a new skill or trade he decided on one that interested him, leatherworking. Having seen many leather hides through his time, seen objects and goods made of various types of leather. Bags, armour, and other sorts of things... He found an interest in it, and decided to make that his undertaking.
Unlike magic he did not take to this craft quite as quickly, but still he toiled away for several years and got decent at it. In the end he kept at it until he finally ended up leaving again, hearing of Syka just across the Suvan which perhaps had a need for someone who knew the craft he decided to spend some time there and see what he could learn or experience. Perhaps he would even find a home, or a place where he fit, something he had never really felt among the Konti or Akalak...

Special Abilities -Underwater breathing- Similar to a Konti an Akontak have both lungs and gills which allows them to breath in air or underwater in fresh and salt water.
-Natural Swimmer- Swimming is the skill of moving and staying afloat in bodies of water. As an Akontak swimming is an inherent racial trait. They are natural swimmers without any training and cannot receive XP in Swimming.
-Infravision- like an Akalak, Akontak have a special inner eyelid that sweeps across their gaze from the outer corners of their eyes to their inner tear ducts which cover their lenses and give them Infravision when and where they desire it. This trait can be used in daylight and in the darkness.
-Two Souls- Just as an Akalak, an Akontak has two souls in one body, Willis and Efram sharing their body as brothers.
-Konti Gift- Having spent time on Mura, Willis Efram has also awakened his Konti gift of Weather Sensing: Willis Efram's gift allows him to sense -for the general area he is in- the coming changes in the weather. He does this by simply focusing on the air passing over his body, which does require him to be in an area with active air current as opposed to underwater or in an area sealed off with no air flow. When he does this he gets a sense for the coming 24 bells forward for the current area he is in what all weather changes will occur. For example around when it will start or stop raining, if it will just be a light rain or a heavy deluge, when a sudden windstorm might come through, or when the temperature will suddenly drop or leap.
Limits :
It is limited to that time frame out, and to the general area he is in. For instance being in Syka he can sense the coming weather for that area close to him, but he would not sense a storm only hitting an area miles away in the jungle, or across the Suvan in Riverfall.
This is limited to “natural” weather changes being predicted, so ones caused by unnatural causes (such as gnosis that allow one to change the weather like Raindancing, some kind of direct divine intervention, or a sudden unexpected djed storm caused by something or other) would not be sensed in advance, only once their inciting event happens. At that point they would be treated the same as any other weather events as they play out.

-Toolkit, Leatherworker’s- 70 gm (SP) >This includes all the tools necessary for a character to soak, tan, boil, wax and sew leather armor, essential to both construct and repair such armor.
Weapons/Combat related
Heirloom: Suvai of his Konti "mother" T'ana
Suvai :
These are three-pronged weapons carved from the shed spiral horns of a white ocean whale. Complete with spiral handles they are used almost exclusively by the Konti women. When they draw blood, the Suvai tend to weaken the person they cut or pierce, so its highly likely the horn the Suvai are carved from is inherently poisonous to those not Konti.
-Scabbard, Dagger (for his Suvai)- 2 gm (SP)
Housing Location: Syka Currently Residing: The Protea Inn
