To say that Xylia knew very little of the world she lived in would be a gross understatement. She had seen almost nothing of the world she lived in, and knew even less than that. Only a year old and nearly full-grown by wolven standards, her life had already been filled with useless trauma that left her feeling more alone and lost than she should have. Yet as with all coins, there were always two sides. Xylia was vulnerable in her lack of knowledge and her longing to be connected to someone again as the loss of her siblings had left a large hole in her soul. But on the surface, she was cold, stubborn, fiesty and temperamental.
After passing the strange golem on the harbor, Xylia had walked past and off the docks before stopping and standing to the side so anyone behind her could pass. Slowly her calm grey eyes turned from the left to the right, taking in the landscape that was so alien to her. Lifting her nose slightly she sniffed the air to lock all the scents away in her memory, and looking for any scent that would speak of danger or trouble. Although she initially reacted as her true predatory nature dictated, Xylia did not have enough knowledge of her world to really understand danger in all its truest forms.
Finally she determined that the single road leading into the island would lead her to her destination. Her grey eyes still scanning the area she took her first step forward, letting go of the life behind her and embracing the life before her. Already she could see that the life ahead of her would not reek with glory or fame, or even wealth, yet she sought none of these things. Xylia was practical, preferring to hide in the shadows and watch over being watched in the light. So with a deep sigh she continued forward on her journey, the scents and sounds of the island slowly coming together to lock into her memories.
The road took her deeper into the island as the smell of sulfer on the air became more prominent. In the distance she could hear strange noises as above her dark clouds poured into the sky from one of the mountains. She had no knowledge of volcanoes and so simply referred to them as mountains of dark cloud in her mind. Before long though the young girl came upon a huge wall that absolutely dwarfed her. Walking through the outer wall she continued on toward the large stone walls and almost castle-like appearance of the building built into the dark mountains. Stopping for a moment she pulled out a hair band and pulled her dark hair out of her face. Then with no expression on her face she continued forward toward the citadel, figuring she'd better look into lodging before she did anything else.
