Timestamp: 20th of Winter, 511 Location: All Things Wild Reason: Introducing Brig to Morphing There was a lot of things in Haeli's life that was different now. The scenery for one, was a big change for her. Brig was another. He was unexpected, unasked for, and wholly welcome. But in many regards, they were worlds away form each other in thinking and personality. For one, he was clever and bold and unafraid of the world he lived in. Humans for him were just another obstacle he could easily avoid or outsmart. He could take them, leave them, or be amused by them in any given circumstance. Things though, complex workings, fascinated him. And in her quiet way she watched him, trying to get to know him, and figure out what it was that really made him who or what he was. The problem was, after a season, she still was constantly surprised. He made nothing into something on a routine basis, as if his whole personality was bent around changing the rules of his world and even the things in it. Junk became amazing things that extended her reach, fastened to walls, moved, whirled, amazed, and sometimes even glimmered and shined. Sometimes, late at night, even curled around him, Haeli wondered if he was real. Brig sometimes seemed larger than life to her, a fictional character stolen out of a fantastical tale from far far away brought to her ears by the lips of traders on a ship that sailed places far more distant than her mind could understand. And she loved him for it. Perhaps she put him a bit on a pedestal as well, for he would have laughed at her thinking if she had not grown used to avoiding such thoughts when he was near. Not that he was perfect. No. Haeli was acutely aware that he had his flaws. They weren't nearly as horrid as they could be. For one, in the true fashion of a raccoon he washed everything fanatically before he ate it, especially things raw. Secondly, sometimes she could slip into his workshop and he'd not notice her for bells while she watched him wander and speak to himself and plot if she remained quiet. Sometimes she'd speak, bringing in something that needed to be mixed for a while and perch herself up on a stool and watch him, talking to him while she mixed. The thing was, Haeli couldn't get over the feeling Brig was meant for something important in his life. And that something maybe or maybe not had things to do with her. She could just feel it on him... as if maybe this place in his life was just a stepping stone or a temporary shelter that he could always fall back on between whatever else it was he was supposed to do. And in that manner, she had the strongest feeling she was supposed to be in his life to help him along the way. Wasn't it supposed to be the opposite? Kelvics served their bondmates? Haeli wasn't wrong though. Everything about what she felt about Brig was right. He was so much more than the sum of his parts, but it was up to her to make sure those parts kept growing so he'd have the right tool to ultilize whatever it was he needed or was supposed to do. She felt, strongly so, that she needed to help get him ready. For what? She couldn't have said. It might have even been the reason why she hadn't become his lover yet either. Part of her was afraid she couldn't keep him and if she somehow drew close enough, she'd never survive having to let him go if their lives came to that. Haeli's entire psyche was built around survival and being able to anticipate things to come. Brig was something she hadn't spotted, didn't anticipate, and now never wanted to let go. But he was something she definitely wanted to survive. Even now, she ran her hands into his thick unruly hair and teased at a curl as he slept. She was sitting beside him on their bed, wearing not a stitch of clothing when she should have been already dressed for the day. She didn't need clothing. Not for what they were about to do. Unfortunately, though, the world wasn't made up of things she wanted. If that had been the case snakes would have never bitten, mosquitoes would have fed on tree sap instead of blood, and the wet season in the swamp would have been toned down or drawn out to not be so fast and furious like it was. But this morning, she was going to try to get what she wanted. She was going to try to teach Brig how to Morph. She didn't know if she could, but she was more than willing to try. "Brig, I know its really really early, but I thought we could try teaching you Morphing today?" She said, pulling back the covers he was snuggled under and immediately stealing his pillow. If he cracked his eyes open, she'd smile, lean close to steal a kiss, then add to what she simply said. "I'll teach you the little things, first, Brig. But then I'm going to teach you how to be me... and learn to be you in return." She added. What better examples, after all, than to learn from living models so close at hand? Haeli smiled, her enthusiasm infectious. |
