A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Jaelyn simply listened politely as Jokor expressed his doubt that the Knights could do such things. It was no real concern of hers whether he believed that some Knights were skilled in stealth or other things. That was not where her goal was, or her training. She had no real talent in the shadowy arts, and so it was understandable that Jokor, who had probably never met a Knight, would think it impossible.

When Jokor leaned forward and gave Jaelyn a rather disturbing look she felt a faint shiver run up her spine. For the first time since meeting the boy she wondered if he was actually dangerous. As scrawny and ill-nourished as he had looked she did not think he would be much of a danger to her, but remembering the strange weapon he had he could be a danger to someone else.

Giving a small shake of her head at Jokor's question, she pushed the plate towards him. She had no appetite to eat anymore. Quietly she watched Jokor as he ate her food. What should she do now? If he was dangerous then it would be bad to let him wander, but she did not have any proof he would be a danger. Perhaps it would be best to keep an eye on him for the time being, and maybe even see about reforming him.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on February 4th, 2011, 10:55 pm

Jokor got a happy smile as she pushed her plate towards him and just dug in not really noticing the obvious discomfort his question produced and even if he noticed he wouldn't have cared much if she couldn't handle how the outside world worked he wasn't going to teach her about it.
After having devoured the mean in just the same messy way as he put away the meal that came before this one he leaned back into the chair and let out a satisfied sigh. Now noticing Jaelyn was completely silent.
"Don't tell me you lost your appetite from me speaking about killing, your a knight to and as far as I know you are going to cut somebody to ribbons at least once."
He shrugged as he said that, the concept of death a bit to common for him to really faze him anymore.

"But anyway thanks for the food, you know any places where you can more or less sleep comfortably around here? I don't have a lot of money on me and I don't get a salary from my job yet."

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

"Well, I am just a Squire, not a Knight yet," Jaelyn replied to Jokor's comment with a faint smile, "And it was not you speaking of killing," she wasn't sure it was best to tell him what had bothered her though, and instead decided to give a half truth, "I was simply thinking of other things, and it seemed you would enjoy the food much more than I."

At Jokor's next question she nodded and stood up, taking a moment to put her chair back in place, and gestured once more for Jokor to follow her, "I know of somewhere you can rest. I'll take you there, and pay for the first while as well."

Leaving The Rearing Stallion she started to make her way towards Traveler's Row. She was not going straight there though, or going fast, as she had something she wanted to ask Jokor away from the crowd of the Tavern. Once they had traveled a short ways she spoke softly to him, "Might I ask Jokor, have you killed someone before?"

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Jokor just nodded as she said she wasn't a knight yet
"If you say so." he stood up and brushed some crumbs of his new cloak. When she mentioned her paying for the first while he just looked at her like she lost her mind. Before just shaking his head in confusion and following her back out of the door and into the large corridors of the castle-city.
They walked for a while in silence until Jaelyn suddenly dropped a question when they where a bit further away from the crowds.
"Yeah, I did. Why you asking?" Jokor just said his tone clearly portraying he didn't see anything wrong with killing somebody.
"I mean almost everybody kills somebody so its kind of a stupid question isn't it?" He continued to walk for a few moments before something shot trough his head again. He looked back at Jaelyn. "Say you know where you can get a weapon remade?"

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on February 14th, 2011, 4:59 pm

When Jokor casually mentioned he had killed before Jaelyn gave a small nod. Honestly she wasn't surprised, but she wouldn't assume such a thing. A few steps later she stopped and turned to face Jokor. Her face was just as serious as her tone as she asked, "Jokor, this is very important. Why have you killed before? Was it in defense of yourself or others?"

She ignored his question for the moment. She was not comfortable telling him where to get a weapon remade if he was as casual in his reasons for killing as the action of. Not to mention that if his reason was bad enough she might need to take him to the Knights. It would not do to have a chaotic murderer wandering the streets, but she doubted that was true of Jokor. Still, she had to ask.

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Jokor stopped and looked up at the serious face of jaelyn, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't really get what you are getting at here. The guy was rotten alright." Jokor shrugged, "Some bastard slaver tried to capture me, but the damned moron forgot to pack any weapons with him." Jokor snickered at the memory.
"So yes I offed him because I wanted to defend myself and I just hate slavers in general, those bastards." He continued snickering not bothering to stop it nor even knowing it was inappropriate.
"So you satisfied with that answer and now want to tell me where I can get my weapon reforged?" He paused for a moment when a small idea pushed itself in his head.
"And Buy a small knife, I need to get one of those one of these days."

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on February 17th, 2011, 8:51 pm

Jaelyn gave a small sigh of relief at Jokor’s explanation. While his laughing about the whole thing was certainly odd, and maybe a bit unsettling, it was good to know that he had killed for a good reason, and it had been an evil man he had killed as well. With someone else she might have been suspicious of them telling a lie, but Jokor had been almost disturbingly honest in all that he talked with Jaelyn about.

In response to Jokor’s question she gave a small smile and nod of her head, “Yes, I am satisfied with that answer,” she turned and started to walk once more in the direction of Traveler’s Row, “Sultros Blades, found on the third tier of Stormhold,” she gestured back to the castle, “Is probably the best place to go for weapon work. The easiest way to find it is to listen for the sound of a blacksmith working.”

It wasn’t much longer until they arrived at their destination, Traveler’s Row, and Jaelyn gestured at the long line of apartments that lined the outside wall of Syliras, “This is Traveler’s Row. They rent these places out to travelers to stay in. I’ll pay for your room until the end of the season, and after that you should be able to pay with your own earnings.”

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

As soon as jaelyn nodded and began to walk towards the place he could stay in. A bit relieved she was fine with his answer, He didn't want to get in trouble with the knights right now, from what he heard and had seen about those guy's he really didn't want any hassle with them before he had a few nice dark spots to hide for the rest of the year.

He carefully listened when she began to give him directions towards the shop he could get his weapon reforged, if you could call her rather vague explination a direction.
"Now that are clear directions." Jokor answered in a voice that dripped with sarcasm. "but thanks for them anyway, the listening one does make sense."
They walked in silence until Jaelyn stopped at a building that looked like they had carved it out in the outer wall of the castle, or they had build it inside it while they where building it, he didn't know which.
"Right then," He responded to her when she was done explaining what it was and what they did. "Lets go inside to settle that?"

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on February 22nd, 2011, 4:22 pm

A soft sigh escaped Jaelyn's lips at Jokor's sarcastic reply to her information, "I am sorry I cannot give better directions. It has been some time since I was last there, and I do not think I could give good directions. If you would like some time later I could come with you to find it."

Giving a small nod to Jokor’s question about getting things taken care of Jaelyn lead the way into the apartment turned office. She gave a curious glance to the cookies and tea, and the nearby sign indicating that visitors should help themselves, but passed on the offer. She was here to help Jokor, and not to partake of sweets. Giving a faint smile to the Konti behind the desk Jaelyn nodded her head respectfully before speaking, “I would like to rent a simple room for Jokor here for the rest of the season.”

“I have just the place,” Matilda replied with a smile, “All I need is the 32 silver to cover the cost.”

Jaelyn nodded, and after a moment of counting coins handed over the money to the Konti. Taking the offered key in return she nodded her head once more, “Thank you.”

Leading the way back outside Jaelyn took a moment to orient herself with the nearby appointments, and then lead the way to the one she had the key for. Offering the key to Jokor she gestured to the numbered door, “Here we are. Would you like me to help you get settled in?”

A Chance Encounter (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on February 24th, 2011, 7:48 pm

Jokor just nodded at Jaelyn's explanation of why the directions where so bad.
"Don't bother with that, i am used to finding things out on my own." he told her as he followed her inside of the building.

Unlike jaelyn who passed up on the tea and cookies jokor stopped and took one, giving it a curious glance before shoving it in his mouth in one piece.
"this doesn't taste to bad." Jokor muttered to himself with his mouth still full, making motion to clean up the entire plate of the cookies, one wouldn't see that he just had ate enough food for two people not a bell before.

Still nibbling on a few cookies he shifted his attention back to the two woman, immediately noticing something... odd about the woman, there was something that looked like scales growing on the woman's forehead and the backs of her hands and it looked like they where going on on her arms as well.
Giving a last strange look at the woman before he turned around and followed Jaelyn outside, keeping his question about the strange woman to himself, those things where vaguely familiar to him but he couldn't for the life of him remember where he saw something like her.
He was shaken out of his thoughts when Jaelyn asked if she should help him get settled in and offered the key to him.
"Eh sure, not much to settle in though."
