The Little Dead Schoolhouse Located in the northeast of the island, the Little Dead Schoolhouse (as it has been nicknamed by Black Rock's denizens) is the local school. It's a small building with only a few classrooms and the library. The library is open to everyone, and boasts perhaps the most extensive and complete collection of historical accounts on Mizahar. It was written, after all, by people that were there. The ghosts may or may not have moved on by now, but their recounts and recollections, remain in the library. There is, however, one glaring deficiency in the library's collection in that very little is said about the Myrians - history, habits, and so on. Five days out of seven, the school is used from morning from afternoon to look after the education of the youngsters of the island. They learn the basics - reading, writing, languages (and there are a number of them, thanks to the well-developed faculty), geography, mathematics, science, religion. History is widely considered the most popular for obvious reasons - it is taught by those who were there. In the evening, there are occasionally classes for others who are pursuing a greater education. The NPCs Secret : Berend Marris: Head Teacher Berend is the head teacher. He died some centuries ago, but because of his belief in education, he has hung around to make sure that the children on Black Rock have a proper teacher. He's mild-mannered, very patient and polite, and usually has no problems with the children. Except, well, for one student who transferred from the mainland when his parents decided to relocate to Black Rock. He has problems adapting, seeing as the last time he saw a ghost before coming to the island, it tried to suck out his soul. "He tests very well when he's not screaming," is how Berend puts it. He is in charge of the faculty at Black Rock, ghosts and living alike. Sara Lorres: Secretary Description Sara is the secretary at the school, and the go-to person for all questions and problems. She can usually be found manning the desk in the office and handling day-to-day affairs for the teachers and students. She is an extremely loyal devotee of Dira... and her daughter, who was drowned in a terrible accident, often attends classes.
