Exuberance, that's the best word to describe an escape for the day, Rikkard's hooves pounded into the ground as he moved, drumming into the wind. It was a cold morning, the sun was still barely up, but Arabella hadn't been able to sleep through the night. Laying in the darkness she had heard him out there, his nickers always got to her, and she couldn't resist taking off to watch the sun come up. It was hard to see on this day, cloudy out, and so windy, she had a chill to her skin. She commanded him to slow down, make it easier for her to look around, she wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet rather then the hustle and bustle Endrykas had to offer. Peering around there was no movement, everything was so silent, so still, it would have been eerie to most, but Arabella saw it as welcoming and slipped into a light canter. She could see the tree up ahead, it offered shade in the summers, but today it's leaves were still missing. They came to a stop and she got off, Rikkard snorted at her "Well I'm sorry you don't want to rest, but its sometimes necessary." she smiled at him, he peered at her, seemingly upset they had stopped their running. She rolled her eyes "You're to spoiled mister." she wagged her finger at him playfully "Much to needy these days." he huffed again and turned his back. Smiling still, Arabella sat at the base of the tree, curling her legs under her, she leaned her head back and closed her eyes. Sun made the innerads of her eyelids bright orange, she had to squint, for a brief moment it managed to peak through the clouds, she looked up, oranges and pinks decorated the sky. "See? Isn't that nice Rikkard?" she often talked to him, confided in him, it was easy to talk to someone who never told your secrets. Hot breath moved her hair around, Rikkard was sniffing at her, it tickled and she laughed. "Hey hey, stop that!" she put his muzzle and cuddled it to her face, he was warm and cozy, it comforted her. Arabella remembered the first time she had ever seen him, spindly little colt that he was, just able to stand up, he had been so precious, and he still was, always precious to her. He was only six now, young and hyper, always wanting to go. They had meshed personalities, he wanted to go and so did she, run away from all the problems she had, all the problems she was causing. This thought made her mind go to Eldon, but she pushed past it, not wanting to think of him right now, she had to stop thinking of him so often. He drove her crazy, and he wasn't even there, but she missed him, more then a normal person should miss someone. Rikkard moved away from her, prancing off to chew at something, she was alone now and sat in her own thoughts, stroking her fingers in the cold dirt around her thoughtlessly. So quiet, to quiet perhaps, maybe she missed the hustle and bustle when it was gone, would she always miss that sound? |
