Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Day 65 of Winter, AV 510
Location: The Great Bazaar

Syliras was as it typically was. Busy as could be. People all around. The Great Bazaar was possibly the busiest of all Syliras, and as so, it brought about the biggest variety of people. Here in the bazaar you could find nearly every person you wanted to find, or plenty of those you wished to avoid. You could find stalls of pottery or various fruits for sale, yet robbing a stall owner was possibly the stupidest idea ever. Stalls were guaranteed to have small crowds around them, which could both be advantageous, or troublesome. Where a purse taken in a crowded room made plenty of suspects, it also had the potential for plenty of witnesses.

The Bazaar was lit up bright with a blend of torchlight and rays of sunlight from various small windows on the outer walls of Syliras. As Jokor entered the place, he already got to scouting the area. Crowds were everywhere, moving in different directions, flowing against one another in what made an uncomfortable claustrophobic moment for the weak. Through all this, there were three primary targets that caught Jokor's attention. The first was a an old man that was sitting on a chair to the side of the massive room, the Bazaar. He looked like a person that had seen just about everything that life had to offer and then some. This darkskinned heavily wrinkled, thin guy was asleep, though next to his chair, a dog snoozed diligently. Some guard dog. However, next to the dog was a small box, decorated in a very fancy manner. Perhaps it had jewelry, or some sort of expensive yet small wares that needed such a small, yet locked, box.

The second target Jokor had seen was a young man that was particularly strong, he seemed like the type of guy that was naturally powerful, but was preoccupied with carrying merchandise in large crates from one pile on one side of the bazaar, to some stall on the other end. The problem with this target, though sporting a noticeably large purse at his side, as well as a body of muscle and no shirt to hide it, he was strong. He could probably pummel Jokor with ease all by himself, you know, if he caught the kid trying to steal from him.

Lastly, and seemingly most convenient to Jokor, was a Girl about his own age. She was walking through the crowd only a few paces ahead of Jokor, yet it was obvious she wasn't with anybody. She spoke to nobody, and nobody to her. She had on various pieces of jewelry, a silver bracelet on either arm, earrings of some sort of beautiful gem, and a pendant necklace that hung near the crevice between her breasts, which were partially exposed in that oddly cut sleeveless shirt she wore. It was also noticed that she too had a purse at her side, though it wasn't quite as obviously stuffed as the muscled man Jokor saw earlier.

These were the best three targets Jokor saw immediately. Each seem distracted or unaware of his presence, each all had something valuable on them where he could see. It all depended now on what he was going to take his chances on, or, perhaps, if he would turn spineless and flee without an attempt at all.
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Jokor on February 13th, 2011, 12:44 pm

Jokor carefully walked trough the crowd easily moving trough them thanks to years of experience.
quickly surveying the crowds for a suitable victim his eyes first felt on an old sleeping man, the small box that was sitting besides his dog looked very alluring, but it was locked and rather hard to get it while other people didn't notice him and his experience with guard dogs in sunberth was enough reason to leave the dog and his old wrinkled owner alone.

After a few moments of letting his eyes search the crowds and dismissing potential candidates his eye fel on a guy that was carrying large crates from one side of the bazaar to another. But the thing that caught his attention was the stuffed purse that was hanging on the persons belt.
Having selected his target he made his way towards him making sure that he was just another person in the crowd as he did so. He slowly put his hand on the sharp knife that he bought at the ironworks a few days ago,the movement being out of sight thanks to his cloak, intending to cut the purse loose and then get away before the man could notice it was gone.
As soon he was close enough he silently pulled out the knife, still holding it underneath his cloak however, and used the crowd to get closer to his unaware target his eyes searching for anybody that might have seen him.

When he was close enough he quickly cut the purse loose from the mans belt with the knife and caught it in his other hand and quickly shoved both underneath his cloak and out of sight hoping that nobody saw it. Before trying to meld back into the crowd and count his money when he was back in his room.

I got the cloak and other clothes in this tread, the knife will probably be bought in that one to. If not I'll just put up a short post in the ironworks for it.

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Attempt number one and Jokor was feeling good. Jokor have weaved through the crowd like a specter. Nobody would have tossed a second glance at him, and as far as his clever shifty gazes could tell, there were no second glances.

The crowds tended to lessen, becoming less dense as he left the attractive areas of the stalls and small shops, yet there were still lingering numbers of people, not in a traveling crowd, but engaged in some conversation. If Jokor tended to steal and hide, it would require him blending into the crowd, and very well.

Jokor was feeling good. Everything he did was perfect, except predict the immediate consequences of his actions. The purse that was visible at the man's side was bulky, which should have told Jokor it was heavy. The man was bent over, getting his grip around another large box when he felt the sudden drop of significant weight on his waist. He turned around. Jokor hadn't the chance to get far, just inside that small conversation group, which wasn't much, but it was something. Jokor noticed something about the group, or perhaps they noticed him was more of the thing.

As Jokor migrated into their small circle, he found that all of them got silent, each of their eyes were planted directly on him. His little hiding spot just turned traitorous. The man with the intimidatingly chiseled body was already moving towards them. Jokor was in trouble. Running might get him away from this guy, yet there were knights stationed at each exit, two a piece. It wasn't likely he'd manage to run past them with ease.

There was a subtle tug on his arm at first, almost gentle, but it demanded his attention none-the-less. Jokor turned around to see the girl from earlier, his third option. She took the purse from him and tossed it back to the large gentleman and said something in some language Jokor didn't recognize, she turned back to Jokor. She had managed to keep the large muscular man calm.

"That was dangerous. Come with me, these people don't like you." She meant the crowd, and Jokor could see the truth in her words and their eyes. They were discussing something personal.

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Jokor on February 14th, 2011, 12:13 am

Jokor gulped as the conversation of the little group stopped and he almost felt the gazes of the people on him, this wasn't good, quickly looking over his shoulder his felt his heart sink when he saw the big man stomp towards him. This was worse then just being in a bad situation, he was as screwed as a sunbertian whore!
Quickly weighing the options he had in this horrid situation he decided on the one that made the most sense for him, getting out of here as fast as a cat on the run for a bath.
Before he could even start running the girl he saw only a few moments before snatched the heavy purse out of his hand and threw it back towards the muscled man, shouting some words from another language to him.
When the man stopped in his tracks and left him alone, he was set on his edge there had to be something wrong here, nobody would just listen to some girl that popped out of the street.
He narrowed his eyes at her in suspicion, she might have saved him from a beating or worse, but he wasn't going to trust somebody that could just command somebody to stop that. Especially if she was talking in another language that he didn't understand.

"That was dangerous. Come with me, these people don't like you." Jokor barely restrained rolling his eyes at that sentence.
"Really they don't like me? Hadn't figured that out." He said voice drippign so much sarcasm you could probably see it.
He gripped the handle of his katar underneath his cloak, out of her sight.
"But fine, I'll follow you. If just to get out of here."

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Leviathan on February 14th, 2011, 4:42 am

The girl snarled at Jokor as she grabbed a hold of his wrist and began walking, quickly, from the group of people. She wasn't heading for the exits, but instead towards the side of the Bazaar where very little existed but a few crates that had yet to be moved sat and some man curled in a ball, snoozing his day away. "Awfully ungrateful for savin' your life, aren't yah. Don't be snappy with me you dolt, I'm not the one that goes trying to steal from the strongest man in all of Mizahar. Besides, even if you did steal from my brother like that, I'd have to knife you myself. He's really a sweet guy when you don't try to take advantage of him." She grinned as she turned around, pushing Jokor up against the wall and taking a step back. She was examining him. Perhaps trying to judge his character, where he was from, or why the hell he was trying to steal in Syliras, of all places. She threw a quick glance into the crowd, it was obvious that there was a particular knight watching them.

Jokor was the only one close enough to hear her curse under her breath.

"Anyway. I'm Yehnell, lived here in Syliras a while and longer than I'd like. What's your name." She glanced at the knight, who was still staring at either her, or Jokor. Regardless, she wasn't pleased that they were watched. The knight didn't see a need to leave his post though, but he suspected something. She grinned again as her gaze moved back to Jokor.

"You know what, don't even bother telling me. I like you better without knowing much about you. In fact, don't even talk. I need your help with someone. Nobody in Syliras is as brave as you are to attempt robbery in the middle of the bazaar like that. I like that even more than I like not knowing who you are. So, here's my proposal." Jokor could tell, long before she even told what her idea was, that she was going to force him to do it. Hell, she could just go to the knights with the man she claims was her brother, maybe even a few of that group that were staring into Jokor as if their gazes could shred skin, and with that many witnesses to his crime, the Knights would have no choice but to lock him up for a few days. He would, without a doubt, be set free with no ill done to him, but nevertheless, the Tank was not a pleasant place to be.

"Don't gimme that look. I promise it's simple. There's just this girl I know, a real snobby vajik she is. I want you to steal her necklace" The girl tapped the pendant around her own neck. "It's exactly like this one I have. She actually stole it from my sister." Yehnell frowned for a moment and shook her head. She didn't even have to look to know that the knight was still watching. "You don't look like the kind of guy to be wealthy and steal for pleasure, so I promise I'll make it worth your time. I'll give you my ring. My father gave it to me before he left Syliras two years ago. It's gold, worth good money. If you get me that necklace, I swear to you that this ring is yours. And, as a bonus, I won't rat you out for trying to steal from my older brother."

Yehnell gave a smirk immediately after she finished pleading with Jokor. It was a look of confidence. If he helped her, he could not only have a chance to get out of trouble, but he could get that ring and sell it for a good price.

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Jokor on February 14th, 2011, 11:01 am

Jokor couldn't help to snicker when she threatened to knife him.
"Now that was a good one," he let her push him against the wall though he didn't let go of his weapon. Following her quick look into the crowd he once saw the knight that was keeping his eyes on them, didn't do a good job with trying to stay hidden, though he probably wasn't even trying to keep hidden at all.
"Though hurry up, you know we are being watched and I don't put it above him to just throw us in the tank biased on a suspicion."

Jokor just shrugged when she told her name but refused to let him say his, not that he would have given his name anyway, though what followed did let him frown his eyebrows, He didn't like where this was going at all.
"If she stole it why don't you tell that to mister knight over there." He pointed to the watching knight, "unless there are some things that make it impossible for you to do so and I would like to know what kind of shit I am going to step into. Things always go wrong if they offer good money or heirlooms for a job that looks fairly simple. So tell me what is the catch here." He gave her a suspicious look. "Also if you are trying to frame me for something that smirk is a dead giveaway."

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Leviathan on February 14th, 2011, 4:05 pm

Yehnell sighed, thoroughly displeased that Jokor was being so difficult. If he wanted to get out of the open where they could be seen, he should have accepted already. She wasn't one to give up too quickly. "Alright, I'll tell you. She used to be a friend of my sister, and when my sister was stricken with illness, that whore stole several things from her. She never found out, she died soon after. I know she took things, but the one I truly want is that necklace. My father gave us those, like this ring, but it holds sentimental value for me." Jokor could hear it in her voice that she was reluctant to tell her story. It was probably fairly new, she couldn't be older than eighteen, and something just felt fresh about it. "Have you never had anyone that meant so much to you, to have lost them? You should understand how I feel if you had. Here, if you give me your word, I will give you this ring, right now, if you promise to do this for me. Will that be enough?"

Now Yehnell was pleading with Jokor. Before she thought she had him, but his reluctance to help unnerved her. "If she sees me, she'll suspect me. She knows that I know she took it. She doesn't sell it, doesn't want to. She claims it's hers." Yehnell fell silent for a moment as she pondered something.

"And after I get the necklace, I'll pay you five more gold miza. That's along with the ring you can keep. Please, I need your help."

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Jokor on February 14th, 2011, 4:46 pm

Jokor listened to the story of the girl, not really feeling anything of pity and he could probably give her a few barbs for it but he thought it was best not to say those she would probably hand him over to her brother as soon as she heard those things either way.
When she asked if he ever had lost something dear to him it didn't take long to answer, he didn't need to think a long time about accepting the ring right now it was a good way to get some tools he was thinking about getting.

"Never lost something like that before so I can't say I feel with you." He said in a blunt tone. "But fine I'll do the job, you got my word for that, how much is that ring worth though?" He held out a hand, urging her to hand over the ring.
When she mentioned that after he handed over the necklace he would give him another 5 GM that he wouldn't even have asked for he just grinned.
"I already said I would do the job, but I'll hold you for that. Now just a few other things I need to know about my target. You know the usual, where she lives places she is, how she looks and things like that."

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Leviathan on February 21st, 2011, 6:19 pm

The young woman sighed, shaking her head slowly. "I figured as much. You didn't seem like one, for some reason. Anyway, it doesn't matter." Without so much as a hesitation, Yehnell peeled the ring from her finger and slipped it into Jokor's hand. The ring obviously held no sentimental value to her, not like her sister's lost necklace. Sentimental, she was willing to give up quite a bit for it, obviously. Yehnell smiled as she glanced back, the Knight was still watching them. They weren't too conspicuous at the moment. She looked back at Jokor.

"I'm not a jeweler, or whatever those people are called. My father claims he bought it was hundred gold miza, but I'm not likely to believe that. It looks valuable. In fact, if it isn't, bring it back to me and I'll make sure you get your pay still." Yehnell nodded slowly.

"You don't have to worry about where she lives and how to get to her. I can set that up. She doesn't trust me, for obvious reasons, but if she doesn't know I'm involved, she'll fall right into our trap. There's just one thing..." Yehnell paused a moment, her eyes just stopped blinking as she look at Jokor with a look that said 'do you have what it takes?' "How well can you kiss a girl?"

Devious Decisions [Jokor]

Postby Jokor on February 21st, 2011, 7:55 pm

Jokor stashed the ring away in one hos the many hiding places he had on his body when he got it, not reacting to her comment about not seeming like on, whatever she meant with that anyway.
He arched an eyebrow when she offered to pay him when the ring turned out to be a piece of crap. But shrugged it off..
"Sure fine by me." He really didn't want to go and look for deceptions right now, that knight looking at them right now might as well just decide to come over and question the petch out of them. So he didn't really want to make this last longer as it had to.

He nodded when she said that he shouldn't worry about where she lives and told she had a plan ready.
"Sure if you got everything planned already, you could just explain your plan to trap her." He looked at the yehnell, confusion creeping on his face as she kept staring at him as if looking for something.
"ehm why are you looking at me like that?" He got his answer a few moments later.
"How well can you kiss a girl?" Jokor looked at Yehnell with a dumbfounded expression on his face, a blush creeping on his face.
"why are you asking that for!" he stuttered out, making it obvious he had no experience at all.
