[OOC: Due to the player made the other thread and has left I am just going to show what Vick did afterwards so I don’t take over the thread they made.]

Hours later....

He forgot all of the human as he clapped his little hands as he looked at the box that was put in his lab. More bones but this time of the Jamoura race. However just the skulls laid in the box and none of the other bones however Vick paid that no mind whatsoever for the skulls gave him so many choices as he took out his notebook off the his crude bookshelf and with haste he started about writing notes upon the pages with fresh ink and a quill.

  • Use Jamoura race as a area effect binding the skulls in one item.
  • Aim for small radius of effect.
  • Main key: Intelligence.

After he warped up his short but thought out notes Vick begin to form ideas of how the skulls would be laid about. Under the notes he started drawing out little ideas first forming a tiny box then placing circles around each corner. An S laid then inside the circles to show they meant Skulls.

Another drawing under that was the same format of the box but this time just two circles with the S mark in them yet they were on the far left and right walls close enough to where Vicks tables were and the door. The drawings were made very hastily but he understood the point of them as he nodded his before going to the work table that was filled with a mix of tools and other bones that gave him more ideas then any real value yet among the mix of metal tools laid a length of rope that had painted colors every inch along it which he used to take measurements of different things when he had to use it.

Taking one skull he took the rope to it which told him the the length of the skull which was needed for his next plan of ideas. The skull was just a bit under 12 inches which was was one foot in space which he wrote down on the same page as the drawings.

12 inches x 5 skulls = 60 inches / 12 = 5 feet

With just a nod he left his lab in search of the item he had thought of after doing the rather odd math problem on paper and not just on his head. He learned the basic understands of math throughout his years on the island for he was more or less forced to learn more then what his parents taught him for Boss did not put up with him lacking in the intelligence area of things.

The door swung open once more by the little child yet this time his arms were full of folded grey silk rope. Roughly he had about ten feet of it give or take as he placed it on his desk then closing the door once more. He knew he needed just about five feet of rope due to the skulls however he wanted a bit more space on top and he would tie knots in the rope which would slowly make it shorter. If he went with just five feet he would have ran out of space for all the skulls to hang off of.

He took the first skull out of the box placing it on the table. A small little foot stool was used to give him a height difference due to his small child like body. The first task for his idea was to cut a hole in each skull on the top for the rope to slide though. The opening under the jaw would be prefect for him due to less work and less bone to take off but this really was not the first time he had to cut into bone but it was the first time he did a idea like this.

The many tools he had on his table were not all of his tools as he hopped down to the floor moving another box from under the table pulling out rather old looking carving tools that he was given when he came to the island. The tool he took was a basic drill but unless the others it looked much newer with the shade of coloring on the metal. Due to the years he made sure to update his drill due to blacksmithing made it more useful since 310 Av.

With another nod and a push along the box sending it back under the table he moved back to his project placing the drill bit along the top of the skull and slowly turning the handle. He was glad he was dead for this would not only bore him to death but it would take a long time for the work. Would have taken more time if he had to worry of food or sleep but still ten Bells would not make much of a difference in his little head for once he was done drilling the hole in one skull he would just do the same to the others....

Vick at last was done drilling and forming holes in the top of the skulls as he worked on sanding the edges to smooth them out. He had already placed the tools for carving into them to the side along with quills and paints to form templates of the designs. A project that would take most of his time but he had nothing else to worry about besides the project.

Once the sanding was done he placed the tip of the quill along the black ink and he started working on the designs. He wanted to try to push his drawing skills in more than just circles and loops as he moved his hands along the surface of the first skull.

He was losing track of the time he spent on inking the outline of the skull, his drawing skills were getting better with each passing day as he focused upon the art. He still felt very far away from his goals but maybe one day he could sell his drawings for profit.

Vick never really was taught much about the ways of the world with gold but with research. He had to learn that the hard way but even now he was still learning. While he was skilled in his craft he knew it was still hard to sell but while the island did fund his projects he would have to fund them himself if he wanted to try anything new or at least different in terms of what the island saw.

The designs on the skulls took a turn in his eyes as his loopy designs became more darker, waves crashing upon the shores as even the waves themselves twisted and formed what looked like jaded thorn roses blossoming into life.

He was far from a master drawer but even with his skills he was able to show his feelings and show just a bit of what his mind was like and how twisted it was becoming as the seeds of time slowly made him more mad with power.

It was what took place with anyone really, being around mages for years just got to you deep down. He could not hide in his dreams for he never slept, he even forgot what sleeping felt like truth be told. Always working on something and always trying to push his skills but that is what he had to do for if he did stay put in the island he would just be another worthless number that could be used. Yet if he was someone with power than he could use others for that was the cycle of life upon the island of death.

For now he just focused his energy and time into drawing with his quill, outlining the image from his mind to the skull which gave life to his imagination each showcasing the same drawing with hints of details that were different such as the jaded thorns slowly coming to life.

It felt like days passed by as he did the drawings but at last he placed the quill down beside empty ink bottles. The skulls were already dried with the ink and new paint was near him of colors that ranged from blues to reds. He felt the painting of the skulls would just be shades of blue and red but he would still have to carve the words of power into them he knew first.

Thankfully he left enough space in the wave designs to form just a few words. He would just write one word for each skull since he had five working ones to play with but he would be coming the powers from each into a stronger effect. A feat that was not small by any chance but he knew he could pull it off as he had the confidence and will to do so as he took up his pick.

His Djed flaring to life as he summoned it from his soul, into his arm to the very tip of the tool as he started carving into the first skull. This was slow work but he felt he was getting it done faster with each passing trial.

The words were small, the circles around them ever so but he linked the circles to the drawing making the skull itself another circle in a sense. It was an artist circle in his eyes, a different means than just a plain simple circle that anyone could draw. It was showcasing his skill in more ways than he could understand or put into words.

He had laid the skulls in order and wrote the words of power into them, each holding a different word which read “Boosts Intelligence into the area.” Which was a simple goal but Vick just did not understand how the drawings would react with the old magical power.

Yet that did not stop him as he took the pain and made the black and white objects into colorful works of different shades of blue from dark sea blue for the waves to a lighter blue along the vines with red at the tips showcasing the thorns.

He had far more skill in drawing than painting but he would have to work on that in time. The colors he felt were smudged together and muted in a sense as they did not bring life to his idea but more or less made it look like they were just colors upon objects.

It was just something he had to deal with as he kept painting along the skulls. The colors were right but they did not feel strong enough to him. They did not blend like he wanted them to and felt more forced with ruining the drawing underneath but he just had to sigh as he finished the skulls.

In the end he just used the rope and tied the skulls together, they went in order from top to bottom to spell out the words of Boosts first with area last. A simple cut along his finger along the circles and once that was done the magic was sealed and alive at last.

“You are a worthless pluser, so be glad you are even standing in my shadow and do as I say.”

The words were cold as they left the childs lips as Vick looked upon the male human adult that was in rags. Vick had requested the use of a test subject to test out his new artifact but he was in no mood to be social towards the cattle that was so very replaceable upon the island.

The young man just kept his mouth closed as he nodded his head towards the young undead child. While Vick lacked the skills to be truly Intimidating he still could pull it off by throwing his magical skill around inside his office which was lined with dead body parts of magic that few understood. It gave him the upper hand and he knew how to use that to get his point to on the nonmagical livestock on the island.

“You will stay here until you understand what this artifact does. I don’t care if it takes all night. If you break anything then I will personally remove the skin off your limbs and use your body as a Malediction tool while you are alive. Do I make myself clear?”

“Y-Yes Sir.”

The man said in fear as he kept nodding his head. Vick just turned his head up at the low ranking person and went to his work, the bone in question was a simple cat skull that he picked up from a common item box.

Cat bones were far softer than humans, almost like rabbit bones so he just took his pick and moved along the top as he started carving the word into the bone as the man just kept looking at the hanging skulls that he just made.

The words within the bone was “See past the shadows” as he made circles around the bone yet mixed with drawings of lightly carved into the skull. They were like flames to him but he knew they were moving shadows but he would paint them soon as the night went on. The man within the room did not say anything as he did not sleep but just looking upon the bones that Vick told him to figure out.

The night turned into day as the man did not move from the spot but Vick paid it no mind as he painted the skull with black and red trying to show how the shadows moved back and forth with light to the user.

The idea he had in his head looked so better compared to the object he was looking at but he paid it no mind as he cut his self once again in the name of power as he filled the object with his will and let the magic take life.

He just placed the cat skull into a box for other testers to figure out but if it worked like he thought, he would sell it for around 60 miza. Or at least try to push to be sold for at least that amount as he left his office for research leaving the man to figure out the new skulls.
The day turned into night as Vick went back into the lab, finding that the man did not move from the spot but kept looking upon the bones. It had been almost two days and the human did not move but Vick at last paid him some mind as saw the man kept uttering words under his breath.

“Understanding the djed of the past host into focusing the lead circle into the focus point...”

Vick was almost taken back as he saw the man was understanding things about Malediction that Vick had to take years to learn. Yet he saw that the dark circles under the mans eyes were darker and heavier as he did not move to even eat.

It then hit Vick as his Auristics flared to life as he looked at the object and man and understood a bit more. It would seem the object did grant people more in terms of Intelligence but at the cost of anything else. With time he would gather they would go insane from it and could die but Vick felt nothing from the object so that made him reason it worked on a subconscious level.

He just smiled and hoped he was right but he would file a request for more testers to see if that was the case and to see how this man would keep reacting. He would offer this item up to the island for use and see what he could get out of it.
