Avanthal Geography question

Is avanthal located near the magnetic north pole of the planet? I suspect it might be due to how the aurora borealis functions, but would like some clarification for a plot idea I have.

Avanthal is in the northern hemisphere of the globe. You yourself as a PC would not know whether it is near the magnetic north or not. It is, in fact, not. The Aurora Borealis is visible all over the globe on Earth in the Northern Hemisphere depending on atmospheric conditions and time of year. I've seen it quite clearly and extensively in the States. I've also seen it really really clearly in Canada which is in the north but no where near the northern pole.
