A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

A young man, the worthless son of a wealthy merchant spoiled by his father's wealth, was walking in an unusual area of town for someone of his station. Most people of wealth did not enter the slums-type areas of Ravok, unless of course they were conducting shady business. What he was doing in the area didn't matter now, however, as the man quickly abandoned whatever plans he had when he began to sense he was being followed. He couldn't see any of the signs that usually gave someone away, but he could not shake the feeling that eyes were upon him...

Eyes were upon him, though he could not see the source, and he began to walk faster. The man's name was Wesley Therin, and his father Gabriel was an herbalist who often supplied medicine and poisons to the Black sun and Ebonstryfe. He wasn't the most well known or important merchant in Ravok, but it was his fathers connection, however small, with the Black Sun that was the cause of Welsley's trouble that night even if he didn't realize it. Wesley spotted something out of the corner of his eye, what appeared to be a man in dark armor. Moving faster he continued down the road, crossing a narrow bridge and taking a sharp right.

He saw the figure again, this time ahead of him in a shadow next to a building. Wesley quickly turned the other way and hurriedly went back the way he came. A cool breeze passed over the man and he heard a whisper next to him, "There is nowhere to run.." Welsey jumped at the sound and broke into an all out run crossing the bridge. His heart skipped a beat as suddenly the image of a man blinked into view, dressed in dark leather armor and a black cloak. The gaping wound in the man's chest made Wesley wonder for a brief instant how the man was still standing as he tried to stop. Welsey couldn't stop in time and ran straight into the strange man. A sudden cold washed over him and his body went rigid.

First Steps (Solo/Training)

Liam reflexively closed his eyes as the man ran into him and Liam entered his body. It always felt strange to possess, and he did not have much finesse when he did it either. Most attempts involved Liam merely walking into people and hoping to make something happen. This time the person had run into him, though it was exactly what he had wanted. Liam also found it worked better if the person was caught by surprise, and Liam had certainly surprised this time.

The first thing Liam did was to lock down Wesley's body, stopping him in his tracks. This much met no real resistance, as the man was already trying to stop. The second thing Liam did was to clam the man's mouth shut so he couldn't scream. The third thing he did was take a shaky step forward, putting one foot out in front of him and planting it firmly on the ground, letting it absorb the weight of the man's body as the second foot lifted off the ground. Liam could feel the strength in Wesley's legs as they shakily propelled him forward. Wesley wasn't the most physically impressive man, but he had muscles and mass where Liam had nothing. The feeling of moving a physical body forward even a few steps, while exhausting, was exhilarating.

Wesley didn't know where the strange man had come from, but he couldn't stop himself in time to keep from crashing into him. The moment he struck he felt... nothing, nothing was there but icy cold. Where the man should have been slammed to the ground was nothing, and Welsey's body felt like it had been dipped into a frozen lake. He tried to call out for help but his mouth snapped shut, following an order he had not sent it.

Wesley began to panic and his mind raced as he slowly became aware of another presence in his body, a presence that was ordering his body to move. Wesley struggled as his foot lifted off the ground, moving forward despite his mental commands to stop. He could not control his body as it took a second step forward, and then a third. Welsey was terrified. What if he never got control back? What if he was stuck this way forever, doomed to watch another's actions through his own eyes? What did this being want with him?

As he took a fourth step forward Welsey struggled again, stopping his foot in midair and teetering dangerously. He could feel the ghost pushing against him and his muscles burned as they struggled between moving and staying still. "I... will... NOT.. let you... HAVE ME!!" It took all of his strength but Wesley forced his foot down, and as it touched the ground he felt the ghost leave his body. The ice in his veins was gone, and Wesley only took a second to recover before taking off running down the street.

The man was fighting back, and Liam knew it was a losing battle on his part. He could not maintain control long enough to make the man give up; he just wasn't strong enough yet. But it didn't matter, this was only just the beginning. Liam had plans for young Wesley, the first in his attempts to crumble the Black Sun. But such thoughts were toward the distant future, and there were more pressing concerns to be dealt with.

Liam took another step forward and Wesley surged for control once more, freezing his body in place. Liam had encountered this before, and knew it wouldn't be long before he lost the battle. As Wesley teetered on one foot Liam considered making him topple over, but that man wasn't done fighting. As they both battled for control over the foot the man was gaining ground, so to speak, and reversing his step as Liam tried to push forward. Liam was running out of strength however, and the man won the battle and slammed his foot back down, expelling Liam in the process.

His energy spent, Liam watched as Wesley took off down the street running for his life. Liam glanced around, wondering if anyone had witnessed the ordeal, but the area was empty. The entire battle had only spanned a few short seconds, though to the combatants it had seemed an eternity. Liam sighed, though he had no breath so it was mainly just a force of habit, and looked back to the fleeing Wesley, who was now boarding a gondola and ushering the driver to hurry along. Once Wesley disappeared from view Liam also left, blinking away and searching for somewhere to rest and regain his energy. The game was over for the time being, but Liam had every intention to try again soon.
