Located near the edge of the Surya Plaza, this establishment is moderately larger than any other shop in the vicinity. It is primarily composed of two levels and is unique to the structures of Lhavit in that it has a wide yard housing a kennel, a cattery, and an aviary.
The first level of the shop is used for transactions and houses animals on display. It is spacious with clean blue walls, with a myriad of grooming tools hanging beside a door in the back leading to the grooming station. The second level is the breeding center where the young animals are born, raised in seclusion from the animals outside. It has various rooms here with plenty of towels, cushioned couches and basins filled with food and water. The second floor also includes two small, separate rooms; one is used to treat injured animals. There is a counter which is regularly sterilized, and medicinal supplies can be found in cabinets around the room. The other contains cages for when treated animals need to stay overnight or longer to recover.
Interested customers will be taken to the back, free to peruse the animal of their choice. Each area contains a large common area for the pets and side rooms for those feeling unwell or ineligible for purchase. Those animals deemed unfit are either released into the wild or adopted by Fai, who lives near the Okomo Villa on the Sharai Peak. Those with injured or sick animals may also bring them to the Pet Shop, where Fai will tend to them as best as she can. While these services cost kina, she is open to discounts and payment plans for those who need it, since helping animals is the most important thing to her; Fai would never turn away a hurt animal.
Fai is the proprietor of Piramba's Pet Shop, and daughter of the previous owner. She has continued her families' valued work to provide Lhavit with loving animal companions.

Breed | Description | Availability |
Boreal Owl | The boreal owl is a small owl measuring a wingspan of only 20 - 24 inches. It is mostly brown, with white flecking and streaking, and has a large head with large, yellow round eyes. It mostly feeds on small mammals such as mice, but will also eat insects. Due to it's varied diet and small size, it is a relatively easy bird to keep. They can be quite affectionate with their owners, but are unsociable with other birds. | Fairly common |
Chicken | Chickens are incredibly common poultry; they come in a variety of sizes, colours, and feather patterns, and lay eggs in varying sizes and colours. While some keep the birds as pets, chickens are most popular with those who live on the Sharai as a source of regular and fresh eggs. Both hens and roosters are sold, as are chicks. | Very common |
Crow | Similar to ravens, the main difference is that crows are a fair bit smaller than ravens; they have a wingspan of 2.75 - 3 feet on average. Similarly to ravens, they are common in and around the city; they are jet black birds, though they lack the iridescent sheen of ravens. They are also incredibly curious and rather intelligent birds, and enjoy hoarding shiny things. | Common |
Golden Eagle | Golden eagles live high in the Misty Peaks above the city. Golden eagles prey on a large selection of Lhavitian mammals including rabbits, marmots and even mountain goats. The wingspan can range anywhere from 6 – 7 feet wide; golden eagles are almost entirely dark brown, save for same grey on the inside of their wings and tail feathers, and golden spots along their crown and back of the neck that give them their name. The eagles are sometimes seen perched on the tallest buildings in the city, and there are few citizens who keep the birds as pets, training them with falconry skills. They are very intelligent and proud birds, and can be difficult to train due to their stubbornness. | Very uncommon |
Great Horned Owl | Great horned owls are large owls, averaging a 3 - 5 feet wingspan. They come in varying shades of brown, with darker barring on their bellies and darker mottling on their backs, and a white patch on their throat. Their eyes range from yellow to orange, and they are characterized by the tufted, feathered 'horns' on their heads, called plumicorns. While fairly common, great horned owls are not advisable to keep unless experienced, as they can be aggressive and are known for attacking their handlers. | Uncommon |
Horned Lark | The horned lark is an easily recognizable bird thanks to its bright yellow pattern. It is called a “horned” lark because in the summer, males have black, feathery horns. Unlike most of the other Lhavitian birds, the horned lark makes its nests on open ledges of rock, which makes them very vulnerable to predators. The lark is favored among bird keepers for its unique markings and trilling song. | Very common |
Kinell Kingfisher | This tiny kingfisher has an amazingly haunting voice that almost reminds the listener of a human choir chanting. They are brightly coloured, with iridescent purple backings and green and yellow plumage on their bellies. These birds are nocturnal and dwell in cavities found in the stone surrounding the Kinell Hotsprings. They are easy to raise and breed in captivity; they are very verbal, and do well with lots of attention. | Very common |
Merlin | Like the golden eagle, the merlin preys on rodents that live in the Peaks. However they are significantly smaller, with a wingspan of 25 inches, and so themselves are actually hunted by the larger eagles. The merlin is a very pretty bird; their backs can range from silver-grey to black, and their undersides from fawn to an orange tint. They make their nests out on the peaks, and they tend to shelter under overhangs. The merlin is popular among falconers – they are much easier to look after than eagles and are very striking. | Common |
Northern Harrier | The harrier is yet another bird of prey found among the Misty Peaks. Their wingspan ranges from 4.5 - 5 feet, and they hunt on the larger rodent species, such as the marmots. The male bird is grey with lighter under-parts, while the female is mostly brown. As with the merlin, they are very popular among falconers due to their size. When tamed, the birds can be used to aid in hunting small game. | Fairly common |
Peregrine Falcon | Peregrine falcons tend to live higher up in the Misty Peaks surrounding Lhavit. They have a 3.5 - 4 foot wingspan, and are typically coloured a blue-grey or brown on their back, with their chests being white to very pale rust, and barred a dark brown. Peregrine falcons are excellent hunting birds, and are renowned for their speed; particularly when they stoop, which is a hunting maneuver where they fly to a great height and then dive at incredible speeds. This technique is primarily used when peregrines are hunting other birds. Peregrines, while stubborn, are not very aggressive, and so not overly difficult to train. | Fairly uncommon |
Raven | Ravens are common birds in and around Lhavit; they are often found in the wild, but make their way into the city frequently as they often find better food with less effort. Ravens are relatively large birds, with a wingspan of 3.5 - 4 feet; their feathers are a glossy black, and often have an iridescent sheen of blue, green, or purple. Their beaks are black as well. Ravens are very intelligent and curious birds; they learn behaviours from watching other creatures, and so can be trained fairly easily, and can even be taught to mimic some elements of human speech along with other sounds. | Fairly common |
Rosy Finch | The rosy finch is a relatively uncommon bird found around Lhavit. They are very small, and have a light, chirruping call. They have pink-tinted brown feathers on their backs and undersides, with wing feathers being much pinker. The heads and tail tips range from grey to black. The rosy finch feeds on grain, seeds and small berries. They are a popular bird for bird-keepers due to their pretty coloring and relative rareness. | Fairly uncommon |
Snowy Owl | While having a better temperament than great horned owls, snowy owls are less available due to living far north among the highest of the Misty Peaks. They are larger than great horned owls, with a wingspan of 4.5 - 5.5 feet. Snowy owls are pure white, often with grey, dark brown, or even black bars or speckles over their whole body, save for their faces. Unlike other owls, snowy owls tend to hunt and be active during the day. While not overly aggressive, they can be fiercely protective of things they deem 'theirs'; but they can also be surprisingly affectionate. | Uncommon |
Willow Goose | The willow goose is a bird that has largely been bred domestically; it is by no means a pet bird, though. The feathers are used to create quills, and it is a popular meat among the citizens of Lhavit. The feathers are a marbled brown and white which are very popular for quill use, however the willow goose turns completely white in the winter season. As well as their meat, the eggs of the willow goose are also a delicacy. Willow geese are loud and raucous, and if they feel threatened, will not hesitate to try and take on creatures many times their size. | Common |
Cats
Breed | Description | Availability |
Alheas Lion | This beautiful cat began as an indigenous species to the Misty Peaks. While large in size compared to most domestic cats, alheas lions actually aren't very heavy, weighing 10 - 18 lbs and measuring 10 - 16 inches at the shoulder. Alheas lions have long, thick grey or brown fur, sometimes with darker markings; their fur is silky, and requires regular grooming to avoid mats. These cats have a thick ruff around their neck similar to a mane, which is the source of their name. One of the most fascinating aspects of the breed is their ever-changing eyes, reflecting their mood similarly to the Vantha, an effect caused by exposure to high levels of wild djed. They live in the forests of Alheas Park and are considered almost a sacred animal. Domestication is easy as they naturally have a relaxed temperament and enjoy being pampered. | Fairly uncommon |
Bat-eared Shorthair | The bat-eared shorthair cat resembles most other shorthaired domestic cats; they come in a huge variety of colours and patterns, and are a slightly smaller cat at 5 - 10 lbs. Their most distinctive features are their slightly broad faces, and their large bat-like ears that give them their name. These cats are very vocal and highly affectionate, and will follow their owner anywhere should they be allowed to. They require a lot of attention to remain happy; if not, they are prone to yowling at all hours of the night and scratching up furniture. | Common |
Bobcat | The bobcat is very adaptable and can live in the Misty Peaks just as easily as the city of Lhavit itself. They are relatively small for a wild cat, anywhere from 18 - 24 inches at the shoulder and weighing 15 - 40 lbs. Bobcats have a distinct spotted coat and tufted ears, and have a short bobbed tail for which they are named. They are considered exotic pets, and must be domesticated at a very young age. Even so, a bobcat will require a large amount of outdoor space as well as live food, and they can be prone to destructive and sometimes aggressive tendencies as they tend to be solitary creatures. | Very uncommon |
Cloud Cat | Cloud cats are small, fluffy cats with long, soft fur; that and their white coat colouring earned them their name. All cloud cats are white, with no markings whatsoever; they have a round face with a short muzzle somewhat similar to that of a squash cat's, and large round eyes. While not overly large in size, they are stocky cats, weighing anywhere from 8 - 15 lbs. Cloud cats can be somewhat aloof, preferring to not be cuddled or handled, but they do immensely enjoy being groomed, which is good since it's necessary to keep their fur healthy and knot-free. | Common |
House Cat | House cats are not a particular or special breed of cat; rather, any 'normal' or mixed breed cat falls under the category of being a house cat. Colouring, markings, fur length, and personalities may vary wildly; their sizes also vary largely, as they can be anywhere from 5 - 20 lbs on average. | Very common |
Laperm | Laperms are medium-sized cats, around 6 - 12 lbs, with thick, curly fur. They come in a variety of colours and patterns, and may have long or short fur; but their fur is always coiled or curled. Laperms need constant and careful maintenace of their fur to avoid it matting. They are very affectionate and loving cats, and often enjoy sleeping with their owners. | Fairly common |
Lhavitian Blue | Lhavitian blues, sometimes just called blues, are stout cats known for their short fur, which varies in colour from steel blue to navy blue; it is their fur colour that gave them their names. They almost always have green eyes, though blue rarely occurs, and weigh anywhere from 5 - 12 lbs. Lhavitian blues are incredibly friendly and sociable, and one of the more intelligent breeds of cat; however, they can be somewhat aggressive with people they deem strangers. | Fairly common |
Meezer | Meezers are medium-sized, slim cats, weighing around 6 - 10 lbs. They have light coats ranging from white, to grey, to fawn brown, with darker points on their muzzle, paws, tail, and ears. All meezers have blue eyes without exception. They are very vocal cats, and their meows are loud, deep, and raspy, which is what earned them their name. They are social, intelligent, and friendly, and require a lot of attention; they are also very active. Training meezers is relatively easy since they are smart, and it provides them with enrichment; they have been described as behaving more like dogs than cats. | Fairly common |
Mountain Cat | The mountain cat is unique to the Lhavit region. They live in wild packs around the Misty Peaks, making their home in crevices and rockfalls; however, they are also a popular pet. A few citizens have managed to domesticate the cats in recent years, and now the mountain cat is a popular pet for children. The mountain cat is only fractionally bigger than the alheas lion; they generally weigh 12 - 20 lbs and measure 12 - 18 inches at the shoulder. They are generally silvery coated with darker stripes and thick tails, however coloring can range through shades of brown and grey. While they can be restless and are very active, they are also very loving. | Fairly common |
Munchkin | Munchkins are a small breed of cat, weighing 6 - 9 lbs, and are characterized by their incredibly short legs and long bodies. A popular cat with women and children due to its cuteness, munchkins come in a variety of coat colours and patterns. Munchkins are very docile and affectionate, and will actively seek out their owners to cuddle; however, they can be very nervous around strangers. | Fairly common |
Ragdoll | Ragdolls are closely related to cloud cats; they share the same thick, fluffy fur, and also have a shorter muzzle than most other cats. Whereas cloud cats are always white, ragdolls may primarily be white or any other similarly light shade, with darker markings of varying colours on their ears, faces, and tails. Ragdolls always have blue eyes, and are usually large, weighing anywhere from 10 - 20 lbs despite not being very tall. Ragdolls are loving and needy, always needing to be near or touching their owners; to that end, it is not uncommon for them to try and climb or perch on their owner's shoulders, seemingly unaware of their mass. | Common |
Squash Cat | While cloud cats and ragdolls have short muzzles, the squash cat virtually has no muzzle at all, and is named for the squashed appearance of its face. It bears a rotund little body, usually weighing anywhere from 8 - 15 lbs, with lantern eyes and an expression of perpetual discontent due to its flat face, which results in a higher-positioned nose. It first became popular as a pet when discovered on incoming trade ships from Avanthal; squash cats tend to be quiet and are not the smartest breed, but they are very affectionate. The folds in their cheeks require routine cleaning to avoid infection. | Fairly common |
Dogs
Breed | Description | Availability |
Akinva Deerstalker | Akinva deerstalkers, also called deerstalkers, are large dogs with short fur that come in brown, black, white, fawn, and brindled. Despite their size, they are somewhat short, making them more stout and broad. Deerstalkers are commonly used for hunting and guarding and are exceptionally good with families and children; however, they are also often used in dog fighting. | Fairly common |
Bozderon Shadow Dog | Bozderon shadows dogs, also simply called shadow dogs, are a medium-sized dog. They have short, silky black fur, and their most striking feature are their eyes, which are red; while they vary in shade from maroon to crimson, they are never outside of the red spectrum. Shadow dogs are sometimes found in the wild in packs, and make for excellent guard dogs, being distrusting of strangers; they are incredibly loyal to their owners. Shadow dogs easily blend into shadows, and have infravision abilities. | Uncommon |
Imperial Watcher | Imperial watchers are a breed of dog ranging in size from large, to huge. Their very short fur comes in harlequin, brindled, black, white, or fawn colourations. Imperial watchers are used as guard and watch dogs, and make excellent protectors. They are loyal and loving, but fierce when needed; these dogs are excellent with children, in particular. | Fairly uncommon |
Inganu Deepwoods Dog | Inganu deepwoods dogs are medium to large dogs with medium-length fur that comes in black, white, or fawn colouring. They make excellent tracking and retrieving dogs, and are often used to find missing or run-away people by the Shinya. Generally, they make for good pets, with mild temperaments, though they do require enrichment if not being used for tracking, since otherwise they can get bored. | Common |
Jivatalus Ghost Dog | Jivatalus ghost dogs, or just ghost dogs, are small to medium long-haired dogs. Their coats come in brindled and spotted patterns, with multiple colours being possible. Ghost dogs are friendly, loyal, and sweet, making for excellent companions; they are keenly adept at detecting ghosts, and often serve as protection against spirits by warning their owners when one is around. | Fairly uncommon |
Kalean Spicecoat | Kalean spicecoats are medium-sized dogs and have long, thick fur as well as curled tails; made for snow and colder climates, they do well in mountainous regions. Their fur ranges in colour from cinnamon to deep red, which is what inspired their names. Kalean spicecoats make excellent hunting and tracking dogs and, should the terrain permit it, are also good for sledding. They are very loyal and generally obedient dogs. | Common |
Kiparon | Kiparons are large dogs with long fur; they come in solid colours of black, brown, fawn, red, or grey. They are very stout dogs, with curled tails, and are somewhat flat-faced. Kiparons are bred solely for the use of companionship; and excellent companions they make. They are loyal and lovable, making for excellent family dogs, and are incredibly protective of children. | Fairly common |
Mountain Dog | Mountain dogs are large dogs with long fur; they have a tricoloured coat, predominantly black with white chests and orange to red coloured markings. Native to Lhavit, these dogs do well in the mountains, and are used for companionship. They are calm, intelligent, and loving, as well as fiercely loyal; they are sometimes used to pull carts around the city. However, the breed tends to think of itself as an over-sized lap dog; it is not uncommon for a mountain dog to (attempt to) climb onto their owner's in order to be pet and cuddled. | Very common |
Ovatalis Terrier | Ovatalis terriers are small dogs; they have long fur, particularly around their cheeks, and come in just about any colour. Ovatalis terriers are lapdogs, and serve as pets and companions; they are particularly popular among wealthier older women in Lhavit. They are sweet and lovable, but easily excitable, and tend to be very vocal, with high-pitched barks. | Common |
Pastavik Water Dog | Pastavik water dogs, also called water dogs, are medium dogs with short, sleek coats; they get their name from their fur, which is water resistant. Water dogs come in fawn, grey, black, or brown; they are proficient swimmers and tend to love water, and make for good retriever dogs when water is involved. They can also be used as hunting dogs. | Fairly common |
Quarni Wolfhound | Quarni wolfhounds are large dogs with long, somewhat shaggy coats which come in the colours grey, brown, or blonde. Quarni wolfhounds serve as protectors of flocks and herds of livestock; they are so named as they are skilled in being able to fight off wolves. They can also be used for hunting. Quarni wolfhounds are most common on the Sharai Peak, where they patrol and keep the okomo safe from any wandering wolves or other predators. | Common |
Silkena | Silkena, despite not being overly expensive, are not very common in Lhavit; they are primarily traded in from Avanthal. As such, they are more expensive in Lhavit than where they are commonly found. They are medium to large dogs, with short fur, except for long feathering on their tails, ears, and sometimes front legs. They can be brindled, black, white, or fawn coloured. Silkena are multipurpose dogs; often used as hunters, they can also be used as guard dogs for protection. They are incredibly fast and can be aloof, particularly with strangers, but are very loyal. | Very uncommon |
Sykanis | Sykanis are small dogs with medium to long fur; their coats are white, but they may have markings of various other colours. Despite being small, sykanis make for excellent hunting dogs. They are very high energy and need to be allowed to burn it off regularly, or they may become destructive. They are also used to keep farms free from small mammals such as rats, usually by those who prefer dogs over cats. | Fairly common |
Trubliss | Trubliss are small to medium dogs with long fur and distinctive 'moustaches', and come in a wide variety of colours. Trubliss are kept as companions, or sometimes the smaller ones as lapdogs. They are docile and loyal, and make for good family pets, as they are very protective of children. They are often used as a quieter alternative to ovatalis terriers. | Fairly common |
Wolfdog | Wolfdogs are the product of a wolf crossed with another dog of size medium or larger. Breeding them is difficult, as while wolfdogs can produce other wolfdogs, the bloodline will eventually dilute and most of the 'wolf' aspect will be lost; this means that a wolf needs to be reintroduced to the bloodline every so often. Wolfdogs are large dogs, and their coat colourings can vary based on their dog parent; they are incredibly loyal animals and will bond deeply with their family, but are very restless and require lots of room to run and hunt. They are also very stubborn, but make excellent guard dogs if they can be trained properly due to their protective nature. | Very uncommon |

Ferret | Ferrets are the domestic cousins of ermines; closely related to the weasels, they have long, slim bodies, usually measuring around 15 inches in length, and come in a variety of colours and markings. While cute and small, ferrets are very high-maintenance pets. They are high energy and mischievous, and surprisingly intelligent; they require lots of attention and play, and with the right amount of effort, they can even be trained to do simple commands. If left alone or allowed to become bored, ferrets become incredibly vocal and very destructive. They have a tendency to steal shiny things no matter what. | Fairly common |
Rabbit | Rabbits are the smaller relatives of wild hares; while they exist in the wild, they are easy to domesticate. Rabbits sold as pets have been specifically bred to be slightly less high-strung, and to have a much wider variety of colours and patterns. Usually around 14 - 16 inches long, rabbits are docile, quiet animals, and don't usually like to be handled; they can be quite nervous, as well. Rabbits come in a wide variety of colours and patterns, and can on occasion even be long-haired; though such individuals are rare and require regular grooming. | Common |
Star Lizard | This tiny iridescent lizard survives on the nectar and insects found on flowers growing in and around the Kinell Hotsprings. They reproduce often and are favorite foods of all sorts of opportunistic birds and other smaller creatures. Primarily nocturnal, these lizards are fast, friendly, and make exceptional pets. Their dark colouring combined with white speckling is what earned them their name. | Very common |
