Serendipity (Robert)

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Location: Everstone Forrest, Wildcat Mountain
30th day of spring 511AV

She had faithfully kept to the main roads in her travels, riding at a measured pace so as not to strain her well loaded gilding horse. Extra time and effort had been placed in packing her things so that her gear didn't clatter, rattle or produce any unwarranted sound that would draw added attention. Even if the rolling hills of Sylira were relatively tame in comparison to the lands beyond, Sura considered it unwise for a lone traveler to tempt fate with meandering exploration or bold advertisement their presence to any creature within earshot. Despite her best efforts to remain inconspicuous and on course, caution finally yielded to curiosity. A small detour to Everstone wouldn't delay her but a few days, and the pull of a sprawling landmark of rock proved to be too great for the novice mason.

It was early morning and she feared herself lost in the cool mist clinging to the ground. Daylight was still sparse and the world blue and colorless in the absence of the full sun. Every unidentified snap of a twig or rustle of leaves took the form of wild beasts or slavers in her edgy imagination, leaving her constantly at the ready. Just when resignation to turn around and take the same route traveled back had all but settled in,the welcomed silhouette of a towering landmark came into view. She alleviated her horse of her light weight to scale the hill atop which it rested, walking alongside the animal instead with reigns in hand. As she drew nearer, the cat like shape of the boulder became increasingly clear.

Once she reached the feline formed rock, she drew her small webbed hand across its cool surface, fingers dipping into the shallow markings which may have hinted at a time long past when beings tried to shape it in some way. From what she could discern, however, the distinctive formation of the boulder had been carved out by nature itself and any semblance it bore to an animal was entirely by coincidental design.

Sura's attention has been so exclusively fixated on the boulder, that the the vast network of spires constituting the Everstone Forrest was entirely lost on her. As the sun breached the horizon, flooding the landscape with yellow light and pressing back the lingering fog, Sura finally came to stare in awe at the conglomeration of limestone spires. The small, pale konti was crested in the same golden light and remained just as still as the sprawling columns of stone.

Serendipity (Robert)

The Everstone Forest, Robert had heard so much about it while traveling as a youngster. Though his choice of careers had not yet taken him close enough to the stop by and witness the giant stone works for himself. Though he had always had a desire to see and explore them personally, instead of living off what others told him.

Thus he found himself lost in the huge stone pillars. Not really lost, he was in search of a decent place to stop and fill his belly. The hike so far had been relatively uneventful, but long and tiring leaving him hungry and thirsty. Robert was in search for the best possible place to rest and eat. He desired a good view of the forest, not wanting to miss out on his experience.

Robert stumbled upon an opening, or an entrance to the forest rather. A quick glance around showed him all he needed to know. The location in which he would stop was up ahead. Wildcat Mountain, it was the famed natural formation that looked like some sort of cat. It offered the perfect view of Everstone Forest, in all it’s glory.

Robert was hidden in the still present fog, the suns rays had yet to reach his position. His muddy boots were still hidden to his own eyes by a thin layer of fog. If he had been a little less experienced, or perhaps a tad less armed. He might have found the area creepy. But being who he was, and carrying his normal assortment of weapons I was just another day.

Robert had yet to noticed the small image of the Konti standing atop the hill he was trekking up. The sun bathing her in it’s bright early morning glow. He was busy watching were his feet fell, attempting to avoid all even steps on the rocky hillside. Robert’s climb was aloud, a silent onlooker would’ve been able to hear him approaching from a hundred yards away. At the moment he had no concern or worries, he was simply enjoying his first visit to the famed Everstone Forest.

OOCTimestamp, I am free any time after the 20th. So stamp away.

PS. I didn't want to startle her. So I figured I would make him loud and oblivious, allowing your PC to make the first move.

Her still appreciation gave was to increasingly edgy nerves as the certain sound of soles against soil stirred the quiet. Sura had first excused the encroaching footfalls as inventions of her overly alert imagination, but as they drew ever nearer, the approach of a fog shrouded stranger became difficult to deny. There were but a few moments to decide between fight or flight and Sura was undeniably predisposed to the latter. True, Konti were more capable then their light frames would suggest, but she was a pacifist at heart and adamant believer confrontation was best avoided when possible, and conflict only pursued when absolutely necessary.

Unfortunately, her present situation happened to be a rare one in which retreat would draw her into a position of compromised safety. Leading a horse down a steep trail is a steady incline was a difficult task, and yielding the high ground was never a good idea... or was that merely an expression? Perhaps she was confusing something she'd heard about floods or fire with chatter about battle. She was no tactician. Regardless, abandoning the hilltop and leaving whomever or whatever was about to crest the mountain at her back as she negotiated a difficult descent did not strike as her a particularly good idea. The best option was to stand, even if the thought of doing so made her stomach turn.

Her hand rested on the worn suvai tethered at her hip, but she was hardly a menacing sight. Though she'd reached the age of adulthood some seasons ago, the short, moon-faced and doe eyed Sura looked hardly a day over seventeen by human standards, and likely never would.

The well loaded horse was calm and still at her side, which she took to be a good sign, though the capacity of animals to detect danger or evil might have been another myth she'd overheard alongside the importance of higher ground. Her gift afforded her the luxury of knowing others at a glance, but her abilities relied wholly on sight. Perhaps she'd become overly reliant on that particular skill. When deprived of it, caution took hold of her - perhaps a little too aggressively. For all she knew the stranger would be an entirely amicable sort willing to provide directions and advice as to how to navigate the spires of the stone forest. The only sure way of knowing was to wait and see, though as a the murky sihuette drew into focous, she could already feel her grip on the tiny curve of her blade lessening and the taut tension in between her shoulders slowly unbinding.

OOCHeh no worries. A few good looks at him, and she'll practically insist on being his side kick.

Halfway up to hill, Robert’s eyes wondering to his desired destination. There a lone figure stood on the hilltop. Instinctively Robert’s hand shot up gripping the hilt of his longsword. Pausing, he studied the figure once more. Rather than being rash and making a new enemy, he decided to slow his pace still watching the figure.

He could tell the figure was a female. She appeared rather young, from the distance he was still closing in on. Robert let his hand slip from the worn hilt. He couldn’t see any visible weapons, why should he assume she means to harm him? “How goes it?” He asked roughly, breaking the tension.

Robert was wise enough to have learned, never underestimate someone. The most innocent appearing young lady, might have a poisoned tipped dagger hiding beneath her dress. As he cleared a bit more of the distance between them, he waved his hand in a friendly gesture. Obviously avoiding any quick or threatening movements. Also careful not to close the distance to quickly, thogh now there was only roughly 50 feet separating them.

OOCSorry for shortness, been a rough day. I sent someone to prison today, kinda bummed.
