Technical Difficulties

Thank the stars for smart phones.

Hey guys, Levi here. Seems my retardation has no limits. I have recently obliterated the Internet from my entire household, but wired and wireless. I have absolutely no idea how I managed this but I will be a rare sight until it is fixed. I'm sorry Temp, Archon, and Dusk for this inconvenience. I promise I'm trying to get this solved asap. Don't lose faith in me please! I swear to everyone I'm in a thread with that I'll make this up!

So yes, I'm going to be absent, I'm sorry Mizahar.
Levi, signing out.

I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.

Technical Difficulties

levi - were you messing with your router/port forwarding? have you factory reset your modem? write down your wireless/wired settings and maybe give that a go? it sounds like something has been altered in your other forwarding settings. also download the latest firmware for your modem if you can.

google is your bestest friend ever. speaking from a very recent port forwarding disaster after a power outage reset out modem. MESSY.

Technical Difficulties

I'm not sure.

When trying to connect my new desktop to the wireless at home (I used a Wireless adapter) my computer had a message that said something along the lines of "This network is not set up. Would you like to set it up?" At first I just connected without setting it up, but my connection was 'Local Only', and I was of course trying to get onto the internet. After this I tried to set up, which is where everything went to hell.

First thing that happened was that nothing could get on the wireless, not even the main computer that had both the internet modem and wireless router plugged into it. I was able to get connection on the main computer if I disconnected the wireless router, but that meant that the laptop I used to use couldn't connect anymore.

So yeah, it gets fuzzy but with several hours of cursing and tinkering with everything, I somehow managed to ruin the entire connection even to my main computer when only the modem was connected. I tried resetting the router, getting a new one and trying it, but that only managed to restore my main computer's wired connection, wireless is still down.

I don't know if any tech masters are out there and know exactly what I'm probably poorly describing or not, but if you can help, I will love you forever and ever.

Hey Levi.

I think you need to get the standalone connection for your main computer up and running and work from there. If you have that up, try resetting the router for the wireless. There should be a button you can press with a pin somewhere along its body to reset it to its factory default settings. That would reset its password too though. From there, try to set it up again. You may have to reinstall the driver from the disk.

For your new desktop, if you're running it with XP, make sure you have SP2 or higher or it won't properly recognize your wireless adapter. If you can't get SP2 from somewhere, plug the standalone internet connection on that PC first so you can download it. After that, install the driver for the adapter, yada yada yada, and you should be able to set it up. Good luck.
Apologies to everyone I'm threading with, but it's like the Danaides for me right now.

Is the router one that the internet company provided you with?

You could give them a call. Some of those guys provide free tech support. I have had problems with my internet too, and they have come to check it out that very same day, or within 1-2 days. Then, they fixed it, all for free.

Just an idea. <3

Technical Difficulties

It has been fixed!
My dad rocks.

Anyway, my desktop (as well as all wireless devices now) has connection, but it's incredibly slow despite showing connection as 'Excellent'. It takes it years to load a single webpage, and pages like Mizahar won't load at all, even when I give it ten minutes or so to do it. I'm just stumped on how to get this Desktop running at full potential.

So yes, as soon as finals are over (next week) I should be back in full force to get caught up on tons of stuff.
