Bottom of the Class (Jokor)

Hearing the sound of Jokor falling to the ground Jaelyn turned around, her sword at the ready. She tensed her arms slightly as his head lifted up, but it quickly fell back to the ground. She had not expected him to fall so quickly, but there was no point in beating him if he couldn't rise on his own.

"Do you understand now? I have certainly not killed you, or even drawn any blood, but you are not able to attack anymore," she spoke slowly and firmly, not celebrating her victory, but instructing, "You have a good option for that with your fists, but they will not work against someone armored," she paused a moment, thinking, "Perhaps you should study something that gives you a greater range for dealing with threats at a distance, like the bow."

The whole time she stayed where she had ended after her strike against Jokor, but her sword was now lowered and pointed at the ground. He seemed to have given up, so there was no real point to remaining fully on guard.

Bottom of the Class (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on May 13th, 2011, 10:57 am

Jokor let out a slight nod as he looked over his shoulder up towards jaelyn, only listening half as she was so sure about her victory and began instructing him about how she took him out without even drawing blood.
“Yeah about that,” Jokor quickly got back into his feet and lashed out with a kick towards her knee's trying to return the favor of smashing him face first into the ground while her guard was down. He doubted he would get her down with the force of that kick alone though, sure it would hurt and impede her movement if it hit right on.

“Let me give you some advice, if your opponent is down always keep In mind that he can be playing to get your guard down.”Jokor spoke, a grin on his face as he tried to take advantage of the fact that her guard was still down after his kick, his right fist lashing out towards her stomach aiming to knock the wind out of her.

Bottom of the Class (Jokor)

Jaelyn was surprised by Jokor's sudden rise and kick at her knees, but years of training and her distance away turned what could have been a crippling blow to little more than a glancing kick against her shins as she jumped back and away.

Her sword was still down as Jokor charged her and punched, but that didn't mean she was defenseless. Stepping back she brought her training sword up in a fast slash like a wall in front of her body, aiming to catch Jokor on his arm between his wrist and elbow. In actual combat she might have aimed different, but she didn't want to risk possibly breaking either of those joints.

"Good advice, I will remember it in the future," Jaelyn replied to Jokor's grin with sincere words and a faint smile.

Jokor let out a pained yelp as Jaelyn's slash hit him right on his forearm. Grabbing it with his other hand as he took a few steps back, letting out a few loud curses as he nursed the bruise from Jaelyn's hit.
"Fine fine, I give, I gotta work tomorrow and I can't run all over the city covered in bruises." He quickly stepped back from jaelyn, not wanting to get hit again for cursing like that, though he still wasn't really sure what the hell her problem was with that, it wasn't as if he insulted her with it.

As soon as the pain subsided to a dull throbbing jokor let lose of his arm.
"So what why do ya think I could ever get my hands on a bow? I can barely keep my head above water as it is, let alone that I could buy a bow, quivers and arrows."

Jaelyn frowned as Jokor cursed a few more times, but didn't move to strike him again. The lesson didn't seem to have taken as well as she had hoped. She'd have to try and figure out some other way to help him learn better manners.

Even as Jokor seemed to stop fighting Jaelyn kept her sword up and at the ready. After his previous deception she was not going to take a chance on him doing so again. She still answered his question, "It would take some saving, but surely you can afford it with your job. If you really want to learn to defend yourself I think the bow would be good for you. It gives you a good range, letting you defend yourself from a far greater distance than your fists or daggers."

Jokor rolled his eyes at Jaelyn's words. still keeping an eye on her sword and wondering why she hadn't jumped at him and tried to wack him with that wooden sword yet.
"Yeah two whole seasons of it and then some to get a steady supply of arrows too and that is if those shopkeepers don't try to suck every last miza outa ya. you sure that you can't loan me a that to practice with before I buy one?"
Jokor shoved his dagger back into its sheath.
"The more practice I get in the better isn't it?"

"I do not have one I could loan to you, and the ones here are for use by Squires and Knights," Jaelyn explained, but paused and thought for a moment, "If you would like I could use some training with defending against an archer. We could come practice here, and you could use one of the training bows then."

Walking over to the weapon stand she had taken her practice sword from she placed it back, "I do not know how to use a bow myself, but I know a few other Squires who do. I could invite one of them along to help instruct you."

Jokor gave a short nod when Jaelyn made the offer of him helping her train how to fight against an archer. It wouldn't be to much trouble and what she did say about him having almost no way of dealing with people at a long range did hold some merit.
“Yeah that sounds good for me, though you are sure people that ain't a part from the syliran knights can use that stuf right? I dun wanna get thrown into the tank for something as stupid as that.”

After that was said he walked towards his cloak that was fallen on the ground shaking it of a bit before pulling it back on. Giving another nod towards her when she told him she would invite some other squires to teach him about it.

"As long as you are training with me it will be fine," Jaelyn responded to Jokor's nervousness with a nod, "I promise you I will make sure of that."

Moving to a different stand she took a training spear, and gave a soft smile to Jokor, "I will come find you when I have someone ready to work on your training some more, and remember to try and be more polite to your teacher. I know it is frustrating, but she is just trying to do her job."

Walking back towards the training dummies she trusted Jokor to find his own way back out and to wherever he needed to go as she took up a ready stance with the wooden spear.

Jokor just let out a relieved sigh as she made sure that he wouldn't be thrown in the tank for using the knight's stuff. Giving a nod as she said that he would come and get him if she had found somebody willing to teach him how to use a bow.

“Yeah see you then probably.” He gave her a wave over his shoulder as he walked out of the training room and out into the main belly of the castle, letting jaelyn to her training as he searched for something to do.
